So I could start moaning about it being a puzzle game instead of an adventure game (like I read elsewhere ). Shame, rather liked the idea of a Jessica Fletcher game, used to watch the show when I was a kid.

Jessica: I've found the toaster, the dog on the ceiling and the scratching of a crescent moon on the table leg. Local Sherriff: Will you stop arsing about and solve the crime already. Jessica: I can't i've 10 more objects to find before it gives me the next clue.
Fascinating TV. Just as I'm sure this "game" will be. :

Though for a puzzlegame, it was still good

Why not, after all? It seems to me that there are plenty of adventure games - especially Sherlock-Holmes-themed ones, and there seem to be plenty of people who like hidden object and other casual games, so why not let both sides have a share of games? ^_^
MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
*ahem*
Sorry.

What you say is true, of course, Thaumaturge, if only it did not feel that we now get the HOG instead of the adventure. For instance: I was so happy when CSI NY was announced, that I ordered it without checking reviews first.
I usually finish a CSI game within a day of purchasing it, and I loved the dark, twisted stories of especially the first 3, which included Miami. However, about 15-20 mins after I started playing CSI NY, I uninstalled it,- it was inferior in every way - very basic 2D graphics, no sound, no animation, no meaningful dialogue. Gameplay consisted of clicking on objects that had not the slightest bearing on the case at all.. -need I go on? I just felt pretty angry that I had already spent my cash on it, and now I look carefully before I leap.
Of course I do not begrudge casual games a place in the sun, and I wouldn't mind playing them even... -but I don't like it if they take the place of more adventure-like games and series.

I'll admit that I haven't played the CSI games (I find the series fairly entertaining, Las Vegas more so than the others, as I recall, but haven't felt much attraction to the games, I don't think); what you experienced may, it occurs to me, just be sequelitis creeping in...
