Status : Offline | My favourite film of last year - very much in the style of film making we were discussing before (p.t anderson, David Lynch). Probably well worth saying before the nay-sayers get their oars in - not, by any means, a perfect film, especially in its deeply problematic plot thread that doesn't quite pay off because of its excessive complexity (i.e. the casual cinema-goer would more than likely say 'what the hell was all that about' rather than make pains to unpick the knot) but what a rush!!
Fantastic cast, fantastic soundtrack (Tears for Fears getting a long-overdue spotlight), deeply intriguing....
I was thinking about this film for days and days and only on internet research did I find out how much was really going on in this film. Did you follow the appearances of the 'fat man in red' through it dimi? That's an amazing detail that I totally missed.
And as for the rabbit. Oh boy, that's one scary bunny.

Probably not worth visiting if you haven't seen it, but you get an idea of what you're in for!

Called Requiem For A Dream. Slightly offbeat (Ha!) little movie :. And there is always one of my very favorites, Barton Fink.

| Deleted User | Donnie Darko I REALLY wanna see, Pi was fantastic, Cube was great too (watch out for the razor wire sequence in the first minute), Mulholland Drive was great and DID make sense Dimi (you just have to see it from the outside looking in) and Lost Highway was indescribably bizzare.
Other great films I'd recommend in my collection are Open Your Eyes (NOT Vanilla Sky), which will hit you where it hurts. and The Mothman Prophecies - possibly the most twisted Hollywood film EVER. Not in the sense that it has a twist, but the motives of the entity within the film and the accompanying DVD documentary are absolutely terrifying, considering it was based on a "true" story!

Haven't seen Open your Eyes yet, but intend to after Vanilla Sky promised what the original delivers i'm sure.
Mothman Prophecies was a cool film! Had my doubts about the authenticity but it made for a riveting watch. Scariest thing about it - Richard Gere is extremely fine in it, and he doesn't even have to tap dance.

Oh, yeah, Donnie Darko was excellent. I saw it twice and the second time it was even more fun than the first. I rate it even with Mullholland Drive as the best film of 2002.
BTW, Dimitri, you didn't really mean that ANYONE could make a David Lynch movie did you? I'm sure I misunderstood you.

Who knows where the screenwriter got the name "onnie Darko"?
I really love the cover of "Mad World" (originally by Tears for Fears) at the end of the movie!!
Remember, procrastinate now. Don't put it off!!

Good question - no idea.
But watch out for the impending sequel entitled Lonnie Lighto, a slapstick screwball romantic comedy where Lonnie has to travel back through time to stop himself from slipping up on a banana placed by a mischievous rabbit called Fred.
Hmmm.....

Nice cover, you're right. I loved hearing "Head over Heels" again too. I hunted out my old cassette and then went out and bought the CD. The power of movie manipulation.
