I made a post asking if anyone here was looking forward to Stronghold 3.
It's making a return to it's roots (IE Stronghold 1 style, no fantasy elements) and doing some things better/new, such as nighttime battles, physics, etc).
Stronghold 1 was one of my favorite RTS games and imo the best out there for castle building/defense/sieges. The depth to it is just unmatched in most RTS games.
A good recent video celebrating it going gold (it's out the 25th of this month). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymjhvKZVwOE

Status : Offline | Thanks for mentioning it, I didn't even know it was coming, but I've often thought I should fire up one of my Stronghold games again, since I never quite managed to master those games, (yet)
...so SH3 will probably suit me very well, since most sequels turn out easier, especially these days...
Interestingly some ppl who reviewed Game of Thrones actually mentioned aspects of it reminded them of Stronghold.
PS. It seems safest to tick the auto-copy box these days before posting... :

This thread is jinxed... look what's happening to that post...anyway, my post that disappeared thanked you for that explanation, Fnord. ..and I was saying that I've definitely put this game on my Xmas list.
Sadly, perhaps because of the bad reviews, it seems that my local bricks and mortar was going to carry it but it seems to have been suspended. So I might have to get this at an online store, which I still find a bit of a pain.

I've noticed this is what seems to happen to a lot of the posts that "disappear". Stiler had posted after you and that's how it ended up... :-?
However I had posted even before Stiler, and that post kept disappearing until I gave up trying to post it. [smiley=doh.gif] I'm now making sure to use the "copy" function when I post...

The ones after it are the ones that went way way down hill.

You can get HOMM5 and AC director's cut together for only $19.99

Not to mention a bunch of HOMM games for next to nothing. http://www.gog.com/promo/might_magic_universe_2?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_content=news&utm_campaign=premium_promo_botanicula

Status : Offline | Regarding HOMM6. Well, actually, it was the campaign that really irritated me because you couldn't build up your castle at the start and so on - you get limited quite abit. ..but now I'm doing my usual thing and playing a skirmish, and it's fun, fun fun! The creature are quite different than the previous games, and so are the hero skills.
I'm playing the barbarian faction at the moment, and the units are quite well developed. At least you can upgrade them, which is better than it was in HOMM 4.

I just bought Sacrifice, Castles 1+ 2 , Conquest of the New World and Lionheart on GOG for $2.99 each. Check it out, they have some other strategy titles (not that Lionheart is strategy) on half-price sale this weekend.
