Status : Online | Oh, I suppose I should start!
I went on a little spree myself, which is what got me curious about what everyone else was buying.
I bought:
Myst - Enhanced Edition: My boyfriend and I sat down to play it together one night and were very excited to share the "Myst experience" together... Unfortunately we couldn't get the game to work very well, even with dosbox. I couldn't resist buying this game at the low low price of 35 cents
Azrael's Tear: All the reviews I've read about this game say it's brilliant. This has been on my to-buy list for a while, so I decided to finally give it a go!
Nikopol - I saw this selling for a dollar on Ebay, so I checked out the reviews and what I read had me excited and enthralled. Had to have it
Shivers 2 - An Ebay seller had it on auction for $1.99 with free shipping. I have Shivers 1 but never played it all the way through, so I thought I might as well get the second one and have a Shivers marathon sometime
Nightlong - I have this game lying about somewhere, but I saw it selling on Ebay for $1.75 new in box with free shipping and figured I'd rather pay that than make the effort to dig through the abyss of my bedroom closet to find the game.
Anachronox - I've been reading reviews about this game that haven't got enough good things to say about it... Sounds like my kind of game!
Omikron: The Nomad Soul: Another one of those games I own but don't have the slightest clue where to find it. I found a new boxed copy for under $10 and thought it was a steal
Ripper: This is one of the first games I wrote down on my now multiple-page 'Adventure Games to Buy' list. I saw it selling boxed for $5 shipped on Ebay and snapped it up immediately
I've certainly had a happy day! And an expensive one.. I didn't even mention the non-PC adventures I bought : Oh well, I'm sick, and nothing cures a sick girl like shopping from the comfort of her bed!
edit: oop I've just realised Anachronox doesn't really count as an adventure game

| Deleted User | Well, to reply to you exactly, Arkadia, this is my last online order that I'm currently waiting for: Viva Adventure Anthology (for Riddle of the Sphinx and Omega Stone) I don't have Black Buccaneer either, but that wasn't a consideration.
XS GAMES NIRVANA Road to India ( Windows ) - pc
The Crystal Key 2: The Far Realm - Pc
Mummy / Frankenstein Bundle - Pc Last Half Of Darkness: Beyond The Spirit's Eye - Pc
Beyond Time - Pc
You ask why? What kind of a silly question is that now, Arkadia? : In my case, I think you already know the answer. It's simply: I don't have them yet, -that's why!
Damn! Now you've made me realise that I don't have Azrael's Tear either.... >
EDIT: Sorry to hear you are sick. Hope it's nothing serious and that you get better soon!

Status : Online | Is that Frankenstein: Through The Eyes Of A Monster in that bundle? I remember enjoying that game very much, long long ago. I was actually thinking about it today, wondering whether to purchase it or dig through my closet.. I have a closet-phobia, if you hadn't noticed by now!
Last Half of Darkness is a game I'm keeping a watchful eye out for. What I really want is to get a copy of Shadow of the Comet, but I can't find one for a reasonable price And by reasonable I mean under $25, because I'm cheap like that.
I like your answer Trav, it's mostly the same as my own. But I more specifically wanted to know why you bought THOSE games at that moment instead of other games! We'll both have them all some day.. perhaps.. maybe..

I'm not the kind of gamer who has lots and lots of games waiting to be played. Only three or four tops. Today I haven't got any game at all waiting since it's spring and the weather is urging me to do other things that sit in front of the computer.

I bought them because I have played the demos and also because the games have received good reviews from adventure game sites.
I have other games that I need to play before I play these games; this just means that I have something very nice to look forward to playing...

Status : Online | I bought The Lost Crown as it was made with the same engine I'm using for my game and it had many great reviews for an indie game. It's not my usual game choice (ghost hunting and all round eerieness) but it's a great buy. The only problem is the appauling voice acting for the main character and the fact you can't walk to anywhere you want (only arrows or hotspots allow you to go to a new place or to where you want to interactive with). Overall a really good game though.

I like your answer Trav, it's mostly the same as my own. But I more specifically wanted to know why you bought THOSE games at that moment instead of other games! Hm.. ok then :-[ ..the lowdown, mundane answer is, that at the store I'm buying them from, I got a time-bound special offer, relating to the fact I have VIP status there already, and, all those games (except for Last Half of Darkness ) were going for a reasonable price.
Last Half of Darkness is a game I'm keeping a watchful eye out for. That one I really wanted, regardless of price, because it being new, and a spooky story, I had read up about it, and just naturally wanted it because it looked interesting, and certainly my cup of tea. It cost me an absolute fortune, though! > the price of 3 other games put together! > I would actually have preferred it's predecessor, which I don't have either, but that store didn't have it.

Well, I guess one gets used to the limited mobility thing, with most AG's not being 3D.
I absolutely agree with the voice-acting crit there, though. It drove me up the walls! The worst thing about it, is that apparently Jonathan spoke in that halting way on purpose, to copy some film genre from the early 20th Century...!? :exclamation :-?

(Note: Black Dahlia hasn't arrived yet, it's coming by international surface mail and it's been almost a month. I'm a little worried about it.)
Before that I bought The Experiment ($4), The Crystal Key 2 ($1) and Atlantis Evolutions ($1) from the Midnight Madness sale at GoGamer. I couldn't resist for the price.
I also recently bought The Curse of Monkey Island from GameBoomers because they were selling it in the box with all materials and I've heard what others think of this game and I wanted it too.
It is just so hard to resist when what I think is a good game comes up for sale at a good price!!

I know apparently he wanted it to be similar to a B-Movie. I just don't understand this at all it makes no sense and doesn't fit with the feel of the game at all.

But it was only $3 at my local EB, and I'm interested in the subject matter. (I love X-Files, Torchwood, all that alien conspiracy stuff.) I haven't gotten motivated to play it yet, though I've installed it.
The next games I plan to buy are The Lost Crown and the Pins & Needles edition of the Dark Fall games if it's still available when I have some extra cash. I want to try The Lost Crown because I really liked the Dark Fall games, and the collection because I'm interested in the extended edition of Lights Out, and I can't find my copy of the first Dark Fall and want to play it again.

I keep trying to download the demo but it just won't work. I don't understand.

Status : Online | I'd like to know if it's good as well, loobiloo. I've played the demo and I don't think it's my style, but the fact that it's set in Hungary might mean I'll buy it anyway.
EDIT: Forgot about the topic: New games: Ceville - Played it already. Nice little game. Could've been better. More character interaction and less contemporary jokes and references would've been great.
Overclocked - Heard the story was good, and I liked Moment of Silence so why not?
Perry Rhodan - I think I got it for the graphics. They look spectacular :. I hear I might not like the rest: slow, unknown backstory, obscure puzzles, etc.
Older games: Callahan's Crosstime Saloon - Another one where they say the story and writing are good. I think I might need a lot of patience for it so won't be playing it for a while.
Myst and Riven - Got for free from Ang's giveaway at Mystery Manor. I have some catching up to do! (with a walkthrough most likely).
The Messenger - Another freebie. Time to see why LadyK puts it in all her trivias.
Nightmare Ned - Last freebie. I know next to nothing about this game except that it's cartoony and for younger players. It might be fun.

Because I took a ton of screenshots when writing my review and because it has some nice hats.

Technically, the last adventure games I've purchased were Mindshadow and Tass Times in Tonetown, both of which are included in Interplay's 10 Year Anthology (as well as Star Trek: 25th Anniversary, though I already owned it). Main reasons for getting it were that I love compilations, I used to be a fan of Interplay, Wasteland, which I'd been looking to acquire for ages, was included in it, and I got it for less than $20, shipping included.
If we discount the games included in the compilation, then my most recent purchases were way back in January and February, when I picked up Point of View, Tex Murphy: Under a Killing Moon and Undercover: Operation Wintersun.
If we don't consider online purchases, then I'm not really certain, been two or three years since I bought a game at a retail store. It should probably be Bud Tucker in Double Trouble, Dark Side of the Moon or Gabriel Knight 3: Testamento del Diablo, one of those.

| Deleted User | Oddly enough, the last two games I bought were from international sites, the games being DF Pins and Needles and So Blonde. Over the last few years though, when I saw something new that caught my interest, I'd just do an on-line transaction either here or through amazon. In either case I've found the service to be excellent. Still, it's not the same as I recall a few years back when I lived in a more urban setting with easy access to all the retail sites. (back when all the retail sites carried far more extensive inventories that is)
As for the issue of 'impulse buying' I notice being mentioned here, I see some of you are certainly finding some great deals. I say get em while you can. I should probably check this out myself since I've compiled quite an extensive list of 'games of interest' from reading the AG trivia threads here. Of course there's a dark side to this, at least for myself, as over the years I have tried to descipline my game playing activities towards completing one game before I start another. Having too many games would be...... Heck, I'm already starting to crumble. I've got two 'other' games I've started plus the AG titles - Sinking Island, DF Lights Out, Secret Files 2 demo, and So Blonde that I've started. (admittedly the latter I'll finish first) Oh well, so little time, so much to experience.
