Status : Offline | Hi Simon,
I'm a fan of FMV too 8-).
The best FMV adventures include the Tex Murphy series, Gabriel Knight 2, Ripper and Black Dahlia, as well as a couple of less known ones, like Byzantine: The Betrayal and arguably Temujin, which is sadly marred by an awful control system.
The 7th Guest and The 11th Hour are also worth playing, especially if you enjoy puzzles.
Btw, have you checked out the new Casebook adventures? I really hope a boxed version will become available so I can buy it :-/.
Edit: I just noticed that the Casebook games include an introductory Chapter 0 that is available as free download [smiley=jumping.gif] [smiley=jumping.gif] [smiley=jumping.gif] [smiley=jumping.gif]. You can find it in the developer's homepage that I linked above . I'm downloading as we speak, though I doubt the ancient laptop I'm saddled with till the Easter vacation ends will manage to run it .
This also reminds me of another freeware FMV adventure, Fate by Numbers .

Status : Offline | Hi simon, I'd never really played any FMV games up until recently except for Gabriel Knight 2 which included some sequences. But, over the last couple of weeks a new game Yoomurjaks Ring developed by Private Moon Studios - the makers of the Agon - has been released by download via The Adventure Shop. It's quite expensive & takes a long time to download but as it consists of 5 files you can download each one in sequence at your own convenience! The game merges FMV almost seamlessly with panoramic shots of your environment to present a totally immersive gaming world. It's a first person perspective adventure/mystery featuring famous Hungarian actors & a rapper! The game is in Hungarian but has english subtiltes & translations where appropriate i.e. inventory, notes etc. I think there is a demo available - it's a game well worth checking out altogether & especially fans of FMV!

Oh, this is good news, Nik! 8-) I've been eyeing the series for a while now, wondering how casual they are, and if they are worth trying to get hold of. It's also good news that you can play your download immediately, so won't you let us know what you think of the demo/Chapter 0 ?

Status : Offline | "Run just fine" may have been an exaggeration born from the exuberance Casebook 0's running at all caused :. While it is playable, it is obvious that my poor laptop suffers both from lack of RAM (easily fixed) and an on-board graphics card that is meant for Powerpoint presentations, not games. The gaming experience suffers for it as frame rates are choppy. Therefore those who are in a hurry to find out what the Casebook games are all about are better off downloading Chapter 0 for themselves rather than waiting for my opinion :-/.

Status : Offline | I feel the same way. A good FMV has something that I feel can never be acomplished with 3d and I have played many many 3d games. It runs on almost any computer and you can see what the actor is feeling or even thinking by watching his/her real life expresions and motions. Many of my all time favorites like Gabial knight 2, Tex Murphy and so on are all FMV.
