No, that's not it sorry.

From the same game:

I would have guessed that it's one of the Space Quest games by now, except that: 1) I'm not sure which one of the 6 SQ games - perhaps 5 or 6 ?
and
2) Those didn't sport crosshairs, If I Recall Correctly .

Though there was another space game... now what was the name of it again...  :

GreyFuss' screenshot is from "Zero Critical", a 12-year-old sci-fi adventure game created entirely by Istvan Pely and released by Bethesda. If you live outside North America, chances are that you haven't heard of it as it was never officially released in Europe or any other country other than USA or Canada (as far as I know). I bought it from an american ebay seller a few years ago and it's actually a pretty good game, considering that it is an one-man project.

Today it's a bit hard to get hold of an original retail copy but if you can find it anywhere on the Internet as abandonware, download it and give it a try. It's not a long game but it has an interesting story, logical puzzles and excellent atmosphere. If you're a fan of sci-fi thrillers I'm sure you'll like it.

Zero Critical it is Emmanuel5...good eye. Zero Critical was the 3rd game in the series and the only one that was in third person. Your turn.

Well, I've also played '"Symbiocom", which is supposed to be the second game of the sci-fi trilogy created by Istvan Pely (the first game was "The Majestic:Alien Encounter"
and it was also a pretty good game. Pity that I.Pely didn't give us any more games after "Zero Critical".

OK, give me some time to think of a game. I'll post a screenshot tomorrow.

Right, so we're still trying to guess Walsh's "space" game, and we're waiting for a pic from Emmanuel5.

Here's another one then, in the meantime, which I have no idea if it will be hard to guess:

Some of the UI has been cropped off the bottom.

Hey! I thought you didn't enjoy posting pictures Trav, but you have posted a wonderful example of a perfect screenshot of a one-of-a-kind game by selecting this thrilling intro.

I mean, just look at it: A spooky stormy night, a car that seems to be driving too fast on the verge of losing control - this vision offers only a glimpse of a life that is soon to be nightmarishly out-of-control.

Oh, yeah. One of the best. Markornikov nailed it.

Please proofread your posts carefully to see if you any words out.

Actually, now that you guys point it out, the two games do start amazingly similarly, but the screenie with the car is actually not from Sanitarium, but from this game:

It was released later than Sanitarium, and is perhaps not as well known.

Yes, this time you forgot to take Poirrot out of the picture,
otherwise it would certainly have been harder.

The car picture reminds me of Overclocked, but the library one doesn't...

Oh, what the heck, Overclocked?

Nope, it's older again than Overclocked.  Here's two more that should set you on the road:
all still from the same game)

She would certainly have been a dead giveaway, but when I saw Poirot, it didn't take too long to work out which Agatha Christie I was looking at.
Sorry!  :-*

PS. Emmanuel5, we haven't forgotten about you.  (Just got a bit carried away in the meantime
)  Just post your screenie anytime that you're ready, there's still space on board for you.

I tried playing it some years back on my Dell XP rig but I wasn't able to complete it due to some sort of crash/error message somewhere in Ch 4. I don't remember well but I think it involved some type of file corruption to my save files resulting an a serious loss of screen resolution and the addition of funky colors. At the time I just didn't have the heart to re-start from scratch.

Anyhow, in case I ever did give it another try, I wrote the following reminder to myself on a sticky note and tucked it inside the case:

"Save game at beginning of Ch. 4.
Do not overwrite!
Must play through entire Ch. without a save game."
