Sorry but I have to rant, really frustrated.

Ok, so I've been living in Italy, Palermo for about 1,5 years now and lately been interested in games more than before. This is a rather big city and we do have our hundreds of clothing shops and supermarkets and other special stores but very few game shops. The local book shop has an OK selection of games (what you'd normally find in a big general store) but very few adventures, and their "latest" section is horribly dated.

Anyway I asked my boyfriend to take me to a proper game store, I found it on google maps. It took us about 1,5 hours to get there by bus. In the website it said the store is specialized in computer games. When we got there, I found out they had exactly twenty PC games on display, 20 for each console and the rest of the store was dedicated for figurines. Disappointed, and feeling let down I tried my best to find at least something I was interested in, just so my bf wouldn't be upset cause we spent most of our Saturday hunting down the store, that seems to be the only one in this city (trust me, I've researched and researched more). Finally, I found a boxed edition of Atlantis II. My boyfriend went to the register to make sure it's in English as well and not in Italian only. The guy behind the counter just said "no, only in Italian".  I am still convinced that the game was in English because all the texts were in English behind the box. The guy just didn't bother getting off his ass and checking; a rather common behavior here. But I didn't want to take the risk so I left the game in the store.

Ok, so we went to a newstand instead to get a dvd to watch for that night. On our way back home, I noticed another game store called "Universal Games". I asked my BF to hop off the bus with me and we did. THAT store had FIVE games for PC, consoles and other junk on display. And that was it.

I'm really amazed how those two stores are able to survive and pay their rent. If you call yourself a game shop, you'd at least expect your selection of games is bigger than FIVE, or TWENTY and that your selection would be better than the LOCAL BOOK STORE.

Anyway I'm sticking to EBAY from now on, or grab a game from a newsstand if there's something I see that I like. Just had to rant about this for a little.

In conclusion and off-topic I'll say this:
It's not enough that NOTHING works in here from traffic to business, it's not enough that the shops are open only for 9 hours a day (in total), oh no! You also have to be unhelpful, lazy and rude. And then you wonder why nobody likes you.

Don't get frustrated ILoveYou. Sometimes here in Athens I get crazy myself not finding what I need cause some stores tend to sell particular game genres or they provide adventure games but really limited ones, the most catchpenny. You could choose to order games via the internet or visit a large city too close to where you live. Be patient, you don't have to be too frustrated. Just smile and enjoy the day at beautiful Italy!
