Apparently Interact is taking pre-orders.
I heard that they aimed for a release in April 2009, but according to the beta, I’m surprised that it will be released quite so early.

BTW --- The game illustrates very well the sordid crime ridden  underbelly of Victorian England.  Drunken unfortunate half starved wretches of prostitutes roam the fog ridden, dirty streets of East London at night, and Jack the Ripper’s murders are not for the squeamish.

The atmosphere is quite authentic.  The Cockney voice acting is first class- I can vouch for that having myself been born “within the sound of Bow Bells”.
Actually I was born in 1925, 2 years before Sir Conan Doyle wrote his last Sherlock Holmes story and I read all of his works avidly when I was a pre-teenager.
Since my paternal grandparents lived in Grove Street in Whitechapel, the scene of the hideous murders and the complete setting for this somewhat horrific game, I roamed the whole area a lot as a child in the early 1930’s and well remember the sights & smells. Horse drawn vehicles were still very common and my grandparents first house still had no electricity and all lighting was done by gas mantles. IIRC, their   toilet was in a small shed outside the back door.

Much of this atmosphere has been captured excellently in Sherlock Holmes Versus Jack the Ripper --- it is very far from glamorous !!!

Len, without giving anything away, would you say the ending was plausible? I admit that anybody who plays this who just has a cursory interest or knowledge in the Ripper isn't going to be overly concerned about this, but the problem is that Frogwares are now treading into real history, rather than the fantasy world of their previous games and the Ripper buffs will point out each and every distortion or inaccuracy relating to the actual cases.

I can handle history-bending for a great game.  I want more fantasy and less documentary in my entertainment.  Can't wait!!!!!!!!

I agree with you. I just hope that this latter game of the series will be more passable than the previous one which was really, really hard.

Hey, what’s up with those beta testers?  :-?

I take that as a joke, and as one of the beta-testers I don’t take offence.

However, “Don’t kill the messenger”.
Both dates, April 16th (not the 14th incidentally) and sometime in May (I personally wouldn’t count 100% on it being very near to the beginning ???) I obtained  from the GameBoomers  Forum.

We were told not to contact any other beta testers, (and I have ascertained that there is only one other beta tester from JA+), so I have not done so !
However, I guess that there are several beta-testers for Sherlock/Ripper from GameBoomers, but I have no idea how many or who they are.
Since I think that GB have close contacts with Frogwares, I took their dates as being authentic & official (which I believe they are) and both them & I posted them with good intentions.
