Status : Online | I started that game (Call of Cthulhu) with a friend and loved every second of the three or four hours I played. I played it in the US and had to go home to Australia though so I never got to finish it. Great game!
I typically only play survival horrors on consoles so unfortunately I can't really recommend any games, sorry Taurnil

BTW, I stopped playing Jericho. It got pretty old and redundant. Seems like the same creatures are in the entire game. I'll probably finish it at some point because I hate having loose ends hanging about.

Obscure does not use the mouse. Only the keyboard. That's really irritating.

I played Obscure on Playstation, but I really didn't like it. I played it co-op with a friend, and it was fun at first... but when we were about 5-6 hours into it we got stuck because of our health and lack of healing items. It was literally impossible to proceed so we would have had to entirely restart the game. It was very frustrating!

Status : Offline | Obscure is a really good game, but pretty hard and nearly impossible to play without a joypad. Haven't played O2 yet, but it's in my "to play soon" queue.
For PC survival horror games of course my first suggestion is Silent Hill 1-3 (SH1 is PS1-only but has been adapted to PC by incorporating the emu). Play SH1&3 first, which are the best of the series and are linked together, and then SH2 for what is probably the best story in survival horror gaming. Don't get too close to SH4 no matter what you hear!
Apart from those, the Resident Evils are always a sure bet. Of course playing RE1 and RE4 on Gamecube is the best choice, but at least you can also play them on PC. You could also try the Turkish RE clone "Kabus 22", which I haven't played yet but looks interesting.
I'm sorry to tell you though, but if you like survival horror then a Playstation is an absolute must. You are missing out on Parasite Eve 1&2 (1 is a bit more RPGish, but 2 is pure SH), Fatal Frame 1-3 (2&3 being probably the scariest games ever created and in the top 5 of the genre), Kuon (so so in the gameplay area, but brilliant in the atmosphere area), Siren 1&2 (Siren being hands down the most frustrating game ever created, but definately worth the trouble), Resident Evil Code Veronica (the best in the series when it comes to "classic" RE style) as well as RE0 (but that is GC only), Silent Hill Origins (mainly for completist reasons, but not too bad anyway) and tons more.
You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

Ooh I recently purchased that, haven't had time to play it though. I hadn't read up on it (found it for $3 shipped on Ebay!) so didn't know it was a survival horror. Lovely!

Yes that's true but I liked it anyway, and after some time you get used to the gameplay. I can't say the same about Obscure 2. I couldn't finish it because of a bug.

I forgot about Nocturne! I liked it too, but the gameplay is as annoying as Obscure, even more, so if you don't like Obscure you won't like this one.

a. I didn't like it because I found the atmosphere of the game non-est. b. Nothing really provoked me (story, plot) to dig deeper into the rabbit's hole. Furthermore I had very, very, very few ammunition to spend on enemies and after 30 frustrated tries in each case I gave up.
2. As for Obscure:
I liked it a lot (I played for 3 hours only) but the absence of the mouse made the game unbearable to be played. As Aya mentioned though, I may buy a joypad cause I still own the game.

I got pretty far in "call of Cthulhu" but finally had to give it up, just couldnt finish as the movemnent made me nauseaus and I couldnt take it anymore. :-/ Pretty creepy game though.
I have to agree with everything Aya has already said. Some of the best survival/horror games are on consoles sorry to say. And in my opinion the absolute creepiest and scariest are the "fatal Frame" games.

No but I'll google it!
@Helen
I watched some trailers on youtube and I agree that FF series are really creepy!

My personal recommendations are Cold Fear,The Suffering,The Thing and Aliens vs Predator 2(play as marine for maximum fear). Also if you download an emulator for Playstation you can play Playstation games on your PC.

Anderson & The legacy of cthulhu? In call of cthulhu: dark corners of the earth you don't get a gun until about midway trough the game. I found the first half of the game (pre-gun) to be one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences i have had to date. The puzzles were tricky, but not impossible, and the atmosphere was downright fantastic.
Have you played system shock 2? It's one of the few games that have managed to scare me. It's a great game, if a bit old (it uses the thief engine). As far as atmosphere goes, few games can beat it. The copy protection is not XP friendly tough, but there are workarounds Also, there are problems with dual core processors, but there is a simple workaround for that as well: http://www.thief-thecircle.com/guides/hyperthreading/

Fnord, thanks for your links and info re System Shock 2. So are you saying that if I disable the copy protection I would have better luck? I've already used an XP-loader to set the affinity to one core, (re the dual-core problem) but my game would still just freeze up upon initialising.
