Status : Offline | Been a while since a "Limited Edition" had me drooling all over the keyboard, as most publishers seem to think a printed manual is all it takes to charge an extra 20$ these days. Hope I'm not too late to order, as this has unsurprisingly generated lots of interest, even among people who already have both games (I only have the first one).

| Deleted User | If you're too late, I'll send you my "extra" . Well, the guy at the studio actually confirmed that those seperately sold manuals are also included in the deal. Anyway, let's hope you are still in time, though I'd be surprised if they're sold out this soon already...

Status : Online | Excellent news. I loved the original Dark Fall, and the sequel was good as well (though not quite as creepy as the first game, IMO). Here's hoping this one lives up to the original.

| Deleted User | Ooh, I wish all indies would take some marketing tips from Jonathan; - he has now sent this email, if you ordered the "Pins and Needles" package: Hello there! Thank you for ordering the Pins & Needles Limited Edition of Dark Fall: Classic Edition and Lights Out: Directors Cut. I am in the process of packing, printing and stamping each box, and expect to ship your copy, on the predicted date, of 30th March. I am limiting the editions to 300, so rest assured knowing that you are getting something quite unique. It's a definitive edition, which includes the two Companion Guides, (usually available separately), as well as a soundtrack Music CD. There are new tracks, on the CD, not heard in the previous versions of the game. My favourite is the rather sad, melancholy theme for Matilda Fly. It's a poignant piece, and a bit spooky, which captures her character perfectly. That's quite important, given her ghost will be returning to Dowerton in Dark Fall: Lost Souls! I will post again, once your package has been dispatched from Cornwall, England. Thanks, Jonathan
I might be silly, but I'm falling for it. I'm falling for that he makes this offer feel so personal and special. :
Of course, I suppose he is busy doing some clever PR in advance of DF3, but hey, it's working on me!

Remind me to look these up on Ebay in a decade.

Note to self: Get stronger glasses.
That having been said, it's time for true confessions. I've never played, nor do I even own either of the first two DarkFalls. [smiley=smile_blush.gif] I've always wanted to play them, though, so how could I pass up an offer like this?
Add me to the list of 'Pins & Needles' purchasers -- I just placed my order a little while ago. I'm really looking forward to this!!

Traveler, I'm with you: I'm falling for it hook, line & sinker. Even if PR is involved, I think it's pretty classy thing to do. [smiley=clap.gif]

| Deleted User | Oh well, at least I got the e-mail, saying:
Hello there!
Just to let you know that the 'Pins & Needles' Edition of Dark Fall: Classic Edition and Lights Out: Directors Cut has been sent to your door! Most of the packages went out yesterday, the 30th, and the rest will leave Looe Post Office, in Cornwall, at 4pm this afternoon. All the packages were packed and sealed by myself. All overseas packages are travelling by Air, and domestic packages will be delivered by your postie.
Registration Code: Each edition has a registration Code, which will need to be entered during the install. This code can be found on the DVD disk; right-click the disk, and 'explore', then open the 'Instructions'. You'll find the code after the first paragraph.
Once installed, you will find both games listed in your 'Start Menu', as well as the Ghost Stories, and both Companion Guides. These new guides are a great resource for puzzle solutions, and tips. Have a good browse, and find Tim's Hints and the ghost-hunting guides. It was very strange to write a full walkthrough for my own games. Both Dark Fall and Lights Out are quite non-linear, meaning there are several ways to progress through the narrative. A witty reviewer once commented that the "ark Fall games feature non-linear stories with a beginning, middle and end". That shouldn't make sense, but does in the context of the games, where a story can be pieced together in any order. The walkthrough's had to suggest a route, a linear route, through the games (which is a shame), but do give them a go, to see if my playtime is similar to yours. The Lights Out walkthrough, in particular, has boxed-out chapters about 'The Fetch Rock Mystery' which shine some light on the events taking place in the old lighthouse. It could be fun to compare my notes to your own theories, to see if there are cross-overs, similarities or complete opposites.
Lastly, enjoy the soundtrack CD! I was surprised, when compiling the album, to find how melodic some of the music actually is. Obviously, tracks like the Dark Fall Menu theme are lovely...thanks to my friend Kevin, and his glorious Welsh Harp, but others are a surprise. I particularly like the Matilda Fly Theme, which is melancholy and slightly surreal, but my favourite is the Lights Out End Title. There is something truly haunting about a lone morse message...an insistent beeping, calling out into the night...to an empty lighthouse, missing its keepers. I hope the new Directors Cut of Lights Out oozes similar atmosphere and foreboding.
For now, enjoy the new re-releases....Dark Fall: Lost Souls will be here, come late Summer(ish!), so I'll probably be chatting to you again, very soon.

I got my confirmation letter of shipping as well today.
Now lets see if I get Darkfall from across the Atlantic faster than I get an indie movie I ordered from around 5 miles away.
