Status : Online | I've started looking for 3D tools some 2 months ago... Well, mostly freeware or not-expensive ones, because I cannot afford 3Dmax, Maya or the like...
I found a lot of cheap 3D tools and most are quite all right, IMO (remember I'm a nwebie on 3D tools)... One will have this nice feature but will lack others, etc...
Anim8or, Moray, 3D Canvas, CyberMotion 3D, POVLab, Lightray, AMAPI 4.15 (this version is free), Behemot, Breezer, Blender, MagicModel, EasyModel, are some that I found out that are either free or less than 100 euros.
But I ended up with CyberMotion 3D, since it has most of the features I crave for, has a a great renderer engine and it's very straightforward to use...
My advice for people looking for 3D tools is go to google and look for those names I referenced... My guess is personnal taste and feel will decide your choice, although as I said CyberMotion 3D conquered me...
I think I found out also Simply3D but discarded it quickly, don't know why - but I'll try it again--- Anyway, although my current game is straight 2D drawings with PaintShop Pro, I'll try using 3D for my next game because it comes close to real life images with the advantage of not being stuck in real world... I look for designing great machines, amazing universes, dramatic landscapes and effects, different alien civilizations - things that you cannot get with photos...

Status : Online | I have to agree that learning to use POV-Ray as a modelling tool would be a discouraging undertaking especially for a newbie. Moray has an interface that is very like the one used by 3D Studio Max. It does not have the capabilities for doing mesh type modelling, but for those purposes I use Spatch. The Moray demo is complete and does not alter the image with watermarks etc. Using it, a beginner would be able to put together a simple scene in no time! Just need to remember that it uses POV-Ray as it's renderer, it does not have it's own built in
I'll try to get some images up and then let the forum group know!

Status : Online | Hi,
I've dabbled in 3D progs like 3D Max and Maya but the best program I've found for doing character animations (not for photoreal animations) is called Animation: Master.
Someone mentioned it earlier in this area. If you've ever seen "Alien Song" or "Killer Bean" these are some of the demos made with this 300$ software.
Look at the movies section of their website: www.hash.com (i think)
I haven't done 3D in a while because I am now working as a full-time student in 2D traditional animation course. I hope to work in the gaming world wether 2D or 3D.
Some samples of a character I designed and have since used in a animation exercise complete with lip-synch: http://www.tynan.150m.com/#projects
YOu can blow up the pictures full screen to see the details you can achieve.
I will try and update this website this spring.
Cheers, Daniel

Status : Online | Somehow I missed this before.
You've got some really great looking stuff there! I especially like the last creature created with 3D Max.
That blue guy is really weird, very cool. I couldn't get to the movies.
You seem to have a lot of pop-ups on your site!! Makes it hard to get around.
Nice art work!

Status : Online | Thanx Kathy,
The downside of a free website host is that you have to have pop-up ads and no room for things like videos. So I couldn't put up my animation.
