Status : Offline | Black Mirror was one of those games I thought had some potential at the start, but never lived up to it. Annoying gameplay quirks like the ones you mentioned, along with a story filled with gaping holes really turned me off, and my interest in it and hope I had for a decent game basically fizzled away by the time I was halfway through it.

I also liked that you could learn something about Samuel's past by clicking objects -- and not just get a description of what the object was. But puzzle quality was uneven, Samuel's manner of speech was really strange, the game had that nasty dead end if you used your gun before the proper time, and the story kind of fell apart towards the end. I still enjoyed most of it when I played it (at the time it first came out). But the original 2003 version of the game came with the version of StarForce that made USB drives inaccessible. So even if I still had the game I wouldn't replay it. I didn't have any USB drives back in 2003, but I certainly do now. They may have fixed this problem with reissued versions of the game, but I can't be sure.

Yes, I got bit on the gun thing. Spoiler AlertI had saved before I used the gun, but then got tired of using it to get out, then dying. So I overwrote the save game with one that puts me in front of the open door before walking out. Needless to say I wasn't a happy camper. :-/

Status : Offline | That bug bit me too. Fortunately I had a save from the beginning of the level that I hadn't overwritten. Spoiler AlertThey give you a gun. Isn't it natural to try using it on some of the other puzzles? I'd gone back to find more bullets, and looked all over the place, but couldn't find any. I gave up and checked a walkthrough to find the well-hidden bullet stash that I thought surely must exist, and was unpleasantly surprised to find there wasn't one.

All kidding aside, I thought it was a great game - and the even though you know you're going to need something but won't be able to interact with it until it's time deal made it even better.

Status : Offline | I liked Black Mirror too! I absolutely love British mansions and gloomy atmospheres so the whole setting was perfect for me. I was aware of the dead end beforehand and could avoid it, otherwise I'm sure I would have been very annoyed. But everything else about the game appealed to me, ending and all!

I liked the setting of the game but found it overall quite slow-paced. By the end I was struggling to keep up my interest with the story. My issues Spoiler AlertI didn't have the issue with the gun, so that wasn't a problem for me were all the loose ends. I was expecting to find out more about Samuel's wife, I wanted to see exactly how his grandfather (or great uncle I can't remember) died- that was left very unexplained.
And of course the ending was dramatic but too easy- what a cop out as far as the story goes!
All in all the game had a very promising story but failed to fulfill its potential IMO.

You don't know how fair I thought the rat puzzle was

However, I did find Nibiru much less frustrating than Black Mirror.
Hopefully Black Mirror 2 will be their best one yet!

My God the rat puzzle. I once had a controversial conversation on the question if it was right to use a rat Spoiler Alerton an explosion.
