I've played this game before, so don't worry about spoilers.

I'm really frustrated in replaying it, because while I'd like to finish it again, I've gotten to a standstill point where I've done everything that I can remember to do that doesn't involve waiting for a randomized event, and I can't get those to trigger.

Spoilers abound! Do not read further if you aren't finished!

I've knocked on Ben's door many many times, and he repeats the same dialogue rather than giving the room door combination. I don't remember what it was, and even if I did, this is a new install-- and the combo is randomized, so it's probably different. I know this combination can be found in a different place later, but...

I've listened to the radio about 30 times, with multiple repeated segments, but I can't get Emma to say the last two digits of the phone number without her voice being drowned out by static. I actually remember that phone number, oddly enough (only because by weird coincidence it's very similar what my own actual phone number was at the time I first played, so I think it's permanently stuck in my head) but you apparently can't just call her; until you get the number from her, the line is "busy."

The Sentinel is blocking the forest path, and I've returned over and over but it hasn't yet moved.

So... I'm at a standstill. I've done all the stuff at the Motel and Owl Barn that I can currently do, and now I'm just waiting for one of those three things to change.

Is there any way I can make the game trigger these events? Any particular sequence, or is it totally random? This is just really frustrating, because I know what's supposed to happen, but the right trigger events aren't going forward. Any way to "encourage" them to do so?

Hi Annacat! (Say, are you the same Annacat from MystCommunity? You may or may not remember me from MC, where I go by my "
'nified" name, Torahn'kyo!
)

If I remember correctly, there's another radio in Conrad's crashed jeep. Emma's broadcast can be heard clearly on this radio, so you get her complete phone number. (BTW, isn't there a third radio in one of the motel rooms?)  Calling Emma triggers the sentry stone to chase after her (Oh, her poor dog Wincey!  :'(), thus opening up the pathway formerly blocked by the sentry and the area near Emma's trailer.

Hope that helps,
T.

I am, and I do! Hi!

Yeah, I'm actually going back and forth between the two radios, and it won't give the last two digits on either of them after repeated tries.

I'm starting to think there's something wrong with my install, because none of the randomized stuff is happening, and last time I played this title I don't remember banging my head into this particular wall for such a long time. I've spent at least three hours doing nothing but going back and forth between radios, trying the wood path, and knocking on Ben's door... but I'm just out of other stuff to do.

I think if I have one more non-productive session, I'm going to try reinstalling the game to see if I can get things randomized a little better.

Thanks for the advice.

Hi again, Annacat!

You might have already figured this out by now, but you really do need to listen to all three radios (kitchen, motel room #2 and Conrad's jeep) to get Emma's full phone number. (I re-installed the game and re-played some of it to confirm this.) Turning on each radio to 15.3 for the first time (it doesn't matter in what order) gives you a different broadcast, and each successive broadcast gives you more digits of the phone number. (Does that mean you just missed the third radio?)

I think I over-explained this  :-[, but now you should be able to call Emma and, well... you know the rest! (I've replayed the game a few times now and have only seen the sentry stone at the motel room window twice.

No, but I only listened to it once, and it may not have... I dunno... registered, or something. Maybe I didn't play it long enough, and I know I didn't go back to that one. I forgot about it in my back-and-forth.

Thanks for the idea!
