There is another explanation, I promise you. Any member of this forum can see your email address.
I just logged out and logged back in. I can even see your email address not as a member. You must not have it hidden in your profile. You need to do that.

There is no reason to believe anyone sold your e-mail address when it can be obtained for free...

Don't accuse someone when you don't have any proof. Know you are upset but find out the facts before you start placing the blame then you can put it where it belongs not where your first impluses lead you.

You worry about ONE spam mail?? I get hundreds a month (exaggerating just a little) and I don't care! Why should I? I don't open any of them and nothing can happen. Maybe I am hacked 10 times a second...do I care? If you are a happy person this shouldn't bother you at all. I don't even bother activating spam control. As I said: I don't care.

| Deleted User | Ok Val,
If you're absolutely sure that it is impossible that anybody at JA headquarters could have sold our adresses then I have to say sorry for the wrong accusations.
And I will:
Val, I'm very sorry that I've misjudged you. I hope you accept my virtual flowers
And perhaps we can have a virtual dinner in a small Italian restaurant: http://www.florence.ala.it/natalino/
Just tell me when.
So if JA didn't do anything, then it has to be a member. Because only members can look into other files, n'est ce pas?
I think Elfstone did it
But seriously: What is the advantage of publishing our e-mail adresses? Can you tell me that, Val?
Well, Val, I hope you're not still mad at me. If yes, I will send you more flowers.
Diamonds? ???

I can see my own email adress when I'm not logged in and I'm getting no spams. Finding mail adresses to spam isn't hard, I doubt anyone would even bother to check out our little community to find mail adresses.
Or perhaps it was Elfstone??

Resistance is not futile, we're gonna win this thing, humankind is too good, we're not a bunch of under-achievers! We're gonna stand up, and we're gonna be human beings. We're going to get fired up about the real things, the things that matter! Creativity, and the dynamic human spirit that refuses to submit.

I can understand you being outraged but as I and everyone else has said, anybody could have come across your email because you had it public instead of hidden. I accept you apology. It did make me sad that you would say such things, though.
No member of this forum would have done the spam thing either. As far as what advantage there is to having emails public on this forum... there is none and you don't have to show your email. You can make it hidden.
Thank you for the virtual flowers. They are beautiful! I'll check out the restaurant, too, and let you know. And... diamonds could most certainly make me forget this ever happened.

Yep, and I'm not proud of it.
Living in a free world, but please hide your e-mail adress, because Sir-Nose-devoid-O-Funk is gonna get you!
But I will shoot him with my popgun.
Nice weekend to you all.

I take great offense at your suggesting we sold your emal address, but your concern is understandable!
As many have been quick to advise you - hide your email address in your profile!
I would be interested though to know what the spam was you received. If it was from another site or forum then we would know for sure that they are culling our members list and could do something about it. If it is just regular spam (Nigerian dictator, penis enlarger), then it was probably a web-bot or whatever they are called and little can be done.
For the record, I probably recieve about 70 pieces of spam per day. I did find a great service that elimates spam, but it costs $20 a month and I'm not prepared to pay that on top of my already $40 a month dsl charge.
