Deleted UserI'm very sorry to see that I've got an spamm e-mail with my Alter-ego e-mail adress.

The only people who knows this e-mail adress are here at Just Adventure.

Yep, I've got a strong indication that some admins are making extra money here.

And now that mine's is sold to someone. My e-mail adress will be sold over and over.

Although, I'm a very happy person, this makes me a little bit sad.

Didn't know people at Just Adventure would do this.

If the amount of spamming is too much I have to kill my alter ego.

May the Funk not be with you, who did this.

You can't be serious. I'm the only "admin" and no Moderator would do this either. Randy would get rid of them quick! I get spam all the time at forumadmin@justadventure.com and no one "sold" my email address.

There is another explanation, I promise you. Any member of this forum can see your email address.

I just logged out and logged back in. I can even see your email address not as a member. You must not have it hidden in your profile. You need to do that.

We can be heroes, just for one day.

If you don't want others to see your address, you have to hide it in your profile...

What?

Deleted UserFirst it was viruses and now spam? Yep, better hide from the public.

I've got a strong indication that you tend to make accusations without providing any proof. Your e-mail address is visible in every post you made and hence an easy target for e-mail harvesting webbots. There is no reason to believe anyone sold your e-mail address when it can be obtained for free...
I forgot my sig.

Yep, yours is right there for anyone to mess with, mine is hidden.  If you want to contact anyone or start a private email you can do it and then see if it is okay with the other party.  That is what I have done with one person and now we email back and forth.

Don't accuse someone when you don't have any proof.  Know you are upset but find out the facts before you start placing the blame then you can put it where it belongs not where your first impluses lead you.

Yes you should certainly hide your address.   We get tons of rubbishy email but certainly not from here.   As fast as we block it, it just comes back from a slightly different address, its a nuisance but I've given up worrying about it.

Maybe it was one of the members who never post anything. All the others are much too nice to do something like this.
:

You worry about ONE spam mail??
I get hundreds a month (exaggerating just a little) and I don't care! Why should I? I don't open any of them and nothing can happen. Maybe I am hacked 10 times a second...do I care? If you are a happy person this shouldn't bother you at all. I don't even bother activating spam control.
As I said: I don't care.

Some mail-hosts might also sell the mails of their users.

Deleted UserOk Val,

If you're absolutely sure that it is impossible that anybody at JA headquarters could have sold our adresses then I have to say sorry for the wrong accusations.

And I will:

Val, I'm very sorry that I've misjudged you.
I hope you accept my virtual flowers

And perhaps we can have a virtual dinner in a small Italian restaurant:
http://www.florence.ala.it/natalino/

Just tell me when.

So if JA didn't do anything, then it has to be a member.
Because only members can look into other files, n'est ce pas?

I think Elfstone did it

But seriously: What is the advantage of publishing our e-mail adresses? Can you tell me that, Val?

Well, Val, I hope you're not still mad at me. If yes, I will send you more flowers.

Diamonds? ???

SirFunk: Anyone could see your e-mail including EVERYONE with no exceptions.

I can see my own email adress when I'm not logged in and I'm getting no spams. Finding mail adresses to spam isn't hard, I doubt anyone would even bother to check out our little community to find mail adresses.

Or perhaps it was Elfstone??

Why Elfstone???
Resistance is not futile, we're gonna win this thing, humankind is too good, we're not a bunch of under-achievers! We're gonna stand up, and we're gonna be human beings. We're going to get fired up about the real things, the things that matter! Creativity, and the dynamic human spirit that refuses to submit.

It's ok Sir Funk. I can understand you being outraged but as I and everyone else has said, anybody could have come across your email because you had it public instead of hidden. I accept you apology. It did make me sad that you would say such things, though.

No member of this forum would have done the spam thing either. As far as what advantage there is to having emails public on this forum... there is none and you don't have to show your email. You can make it hidden.

Thank you for the virtual flowers. They are beautiful!
I'll check out the restaurant, too, and let you know. And... diamonds could most certainly make me forget this ever happened.

We can be heroes, just for one day.

Yep, and I'm not proud of it.

Living in a free world, but please hide your e-mail adress, because Sir-Nose-devoid-O-Funk is gonna get you!

But I will shoot him with my popgun.

Sir Funkenstein

I take great offense at your suggesting we sold your emal address, but your concern is understandable!

As many have been quick to advise you - hide your email address in your profile!

I would be interested though to know what the spam was you received.  If it was from another site or forum then we would know for sure that they are culling our members list and could do something about it.  If it is just regular spam (Nigerian dictator, penis enlarger), then it was probably a web-bot or whatever they are called and little can be done.

For the record, I probably recieve about 70 pieces of spam per day.  I did find a great service that elimates spam, but it costs $20 a month and I'm not prepared to pay that on top of my already $40 a month dsl charge.
