But it's the duration and addiction thing...Playing too much RPGs would kill me for sure (social life 0, sleep 0, concentration doing something else 0). I don't play Fallout or Morrowind because of that; I look at Soulbringer with care...

I wouldn't worry about Fallout... if you are a serious gamer, it shouldn't take you longer than a week

I forgot my sig.

Oh, I know that
In Fallout, you absolutely cannot expect to create your character in under 30 minutes. Fortunately there's just one
And finding ways to get most exp points is always fun...

Neverwinter Nights would be my first choice.

Arx has akward movements and takes some time to get use to but it does have the  setup as does Morrowind that I prefer.

You might also look at Divine Divinity.  Haven't played much of it because of Unreal and now Splinter Cell and not enough time.

Besides, I am no good at giving a review because really think it is individual taste in the end and you could debate til blue in the face on these things.

I don't like little tiny people running around and the shadows or whatever it is called where you can't see the next area (Neverwinter, Siege, Divinity).  Another bit older game I loved was Soulbringer.  It is funny how some games stick in your brain cells.  I knew that one for months afterwards.

I liked Unreal II .  The only thing that threw me was the fact that it was not a continuation of the first one (really liked the original).  For a shooter it was great and not easy and the ending missions were very good and the ending too.

Hitman One I hated.  I have Hitman Two but have not started it yet and hope that the bugs are out of it.  I should load it and play it, give it a chance.

NOLF2 was good but not as good as the first one.  That could be because you expect something different not just settings and anticipate more of the same quality..  Found the streets of India boring after a while.  Loved Siberia settings though.

Now, remember this is coming from a woman who played about half of Icewind Dale, then one day looked at the screen and thought why in the hell am I playing this, it is boring so took it off.

Alright, I have a slight problem with your post, well a couple actually!
1 - You said all the games seem to be clones so that is why the low ratings - erm! you havent given any ratings below 78%  - how can that be low?

2 - Hitman 1 ... bugs? - did you play the PC version? - I did and never found any bugs!
Also, if you didnt like Neverwinter Nights - I am sure you wont like Divine Divinity

Sorry! - I'm not trying to be argumentative, but I am in a sort of argumentative mood!

Bow down before the one you serve&&You're going to get what you deserve !

To answer you as best I can, I really don't know how to rate a game.  That is an honest answer.  I could have given lower ratings.  Here we go:

Neverwinter Nights, Dungeon Seige both 70's or less but then again it is personal preference.  The majority of players don't mind very tiny people running around their screens, I do.  I tried not to be bais because of my hangup.  The games run fine which is important.

Arx had a lousy demo and think the game (what I played of it) could have been good except for the controls and his arm looking like he had broken it five times.

I am happy with third person, heck, loved Soulbringer.  So maybe I should have been more honest about my preferences but I wasn't that is for sure.

No, I am not wild about Divine Divinity but you know what?  I am trying to get over my hangups.  I played Torment, etc. and was okay with it but still you have a party like in Icewind Dale, where you lose them because they are so small.  How can you get involved?
ivine is one I will be playing off and on.  I need to see if I can get through one of them.  But don't you think they are all basically the same?  Storyline is different but graphics, etc. is about the same, just a different setting. You are probably right, I won't finish Divine Divinity but heck will give it a try.

Hitman 1.  Yep, had a lot of problems and again that could have been my computer.  I am loving Hitman 2 right now and since there aren't any new adventure games am trying to share time between Splinter Cell and Hitman 2.

Oh, it is fine to argue or debate, I am fine with it as long as it is understood that I am stubborn and hard to move from a stand (bet you are the same) also you were right to argue the points, very good observations. Where do we go from here?

Neverwinter Nights has to be my favourite RPG alongside Planescape:Torment, Dungeon Siege was ok but nothing special, and the same for Divine Divinity - for some reason I just can't get into it - maybe its because you have no party, and the map only opens up as you explore.
I agree with you about Arx Fatalis - the demo really put me off

I think Hitman 2 is better than the 1st, especially where gameplay is concerned, but I am interested to know what you are playing Hitman 2 and Splinter Cell on?
I played Hitman on the PC, but the sequel I am playing on PS2 and find it to be a more enjoyable experience!

I am indeed stubborn and argumentative, but it seems we have reached an impasse...

Well, we could argue PC vs PS2.  I have both and obviously you have both.  I don't play the PS2 a lot, probably because started with PC games.

Drakan II was great on PS2.  SH2, well I can't make a comparision on that game, it bored me on both systems.

Am playing both on PC.  Some of the default controls are the same for both, did the same developers do both games?

My favorite RPG's are M&M, Soulbringer and Morrowind.  Maybe I should drop DD and reinstall Neverwinter Nights.

Am such a you know what that I want to see all the area at one time.
on't you think that a lot of these games are all the same, Diablo, Diablo II,  go into an area pick up goodies, hack and slash, get attacked by hordes of skeletons and on to next level.  I know, picky, picky, picky.

That's a good discussion topic I think - I play both (PC+PS2) on a regular basis but only certain genres on each.
RPGs, FPS and most adventures are suited for the PC, and I use the PS2 for more general action/adventures i.e. Bounty Hunter, Hitman, Minority Reportand am looking forward to Primal and Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness.
I just can't play first person shooters using a console control pad.

When you mentioned SH2 I take it you meant Silent Hill?
If so, I have never played SH2 on PC - I thought it translated best to a console!
I dont know how it could bore you - I love horror and am not squeamish, but there was something very unsettling about that game.
Project Zero for the PS2 is a similar type of game and I find it very hard to play by myself late at night!

Definitely! - Reinstall Neverwinter Nights - it really is one of the greats and I am sure you will get into it with a little perseverance. It has a great storyline and so many sub-plots that it is quite easy to lose track of where you are, but the end is well worth the effort and left me wanting more!

I know what you mean about the dark areas - I hate not being able to see where I am going, and I think that is the reason that DD did not hold my attention.
Hack and slash is ok to an extent but you really need something else to fill out the game - i.e. lots of side-quests and an original storyline, which a lot of these games don't have!
By the way it's not being picky - its called having standards.
