I can only think of 2 AG's I'm looking forward too with any "oomph" in 2k9:

1) Gray Matter
2) Still Life 2

And since this is posted in the AG Discussion board I'll refrain from listing Dragon Age, Alpha Protocol, Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, F.E.A.R. 2 and The Agency.

Playing: Skyrim: Dragonborn/Dawnguard; Torchlight 2; To The Moon; Far Cry 3

Finished: HomeFront; Far Cry 3; Dishonored

Always Playing: Half Life 2

Looking Forward To: BioShock: Infinite

Reading: BioShock: Rapture; SW: Revan

Maybe Still Life 2.

Beyond that I have no idea unfortunately. :-/  I've been a bit disappointed with the games that came out last year and find myself no getting too excited about new announcements no matter who pretty they may look... :

Ivinia's right.  Sadly 2009 appears a little bleak at this point.  :'(

That's how I'm starting to feel, Ivinia. And I actually feel a bit apprehensive about Still Life 2. It's been hard for me not to get my hopes up after the rocky road Microids has negotiated since the release of Stilll Life (a game I truly love depsite it's non-ending) in 2005.

The anticipated release date for Still Life 2 has already been pushed back from Nov 2008 to Q1 2009, which I'm choosing to see as a positive sign. I'm perfectly content to wait however long it takes for the developers to get it right.

Still Life 2 and only that I'm afraid. Victoria has become an icon for me and she has become the physical embodiment of the best FBI agent ever. She and Dr.Freeman (Half Life 2) are my video games icons!

@karla

When you say Q1 you mean until March of 2009?

Imo she is the most bitchy FBI agent ever and possibly the most repulsive main character I've ever seen.

As far as I know, 1st quarter could be anywhere from January to March. But whatever the release date turns out to be, at least it's closer than it was. Frankly, I'm almost expecting it to be pushed back again. That would be okay with me. I can be very patient.

I've actually become quite attached to the character of Victoria McPherson (bitchy or not) and her grandfather, Gus. But I'm always interested in hearing different opinions -- it keeps things interesting.

Oh no Traveler, all those are legitimate adventure games and puzzling ones at that.

Determining the opponents in the BCS Title Game is an adventure in journalistic opinion, alumni-group lobbying and of all things, applied computer science.

The Super Bowl is an adventure in vicarious gladitorial brutality, advertiser egotripping and false-hero worship.

And The Economic Blame Game is an adventure in denial, hypocrisy and shortsightedness.

Cheers, Terry

Count me as another who finds the current crop of adventure games mostly dismal. Still, there are a few I'll be interested in.

1. The Fool and His Money (Been looking forward to this one for literally years, but who knows if we'll see it this year for sure -- it's the Duke Nukem Forever of adventure/puzzle games. The latest estimate has it set for April.)

2. Gray Matter (Jane Jansen being behind this has carried my interest in it, but I still have some reservations until I get more info on it.)

3. A tossup between the next season of Sam and Max or Wallace and Gromit. But since there are already two seasons of Sam and Max, I'll go with Wallace and Gromit.

Tssk-tssk Terry, why are you feeling so grumpy and cynical on Christmas day?  You should be feeling warm and mellow, softened up by a few shots of good Whiskey.
Or is that still coming later?   :

If not, perhaps you could smoke a nice aromatic cigar for me, on me? I had no one to smoke one with this year.
Ah, well - who knows - perhaps on New Years..

Wow! Not much for me to look forward to. Perhaps Three Cards to Midnight if it is a puzzle game. Return to Mysterious Island 2 interests me. I need to wait and see about Grey Matter and Black Mirror 2. I'm getting less and less tolerant of dialogue in games.

Grumpy? Perhaps a bit.

Dizzy from smoking a fine stogie? Not even a little.

Drunk on good scotch whiskey? Don't I wish.

No Traveler, I'm just bracing for what appears to be an inevitable b-i-t-c-h of a new year rushing at us headlong like hellish hangover on an ice-cold day.

(I'm also not particularly stoked about many upcoming adventure games right now and naming three just felt like too much work. So this seemed a lot easier - and more fun.)

Cheers, Terry

I'm sorry that you're feeling a bit grumpy-ish, Terry.

I suppose, strangely, Christmas can sometimes be a time to feel a bit depressed.

It is a time for reflection, isn't it, especially if you're not high on a good stogie or some alcohol.   :-/

I do hope that you still get to a point where you'll unravel a bit and forget about nasty next year even if just for a few hours.   :-*   :-*
But you're right- your post was fun, and er.. 'different'

Btw, aren't you looking forward even to Gray Matter, then?

Here's to cheer, goodwill, and optimism!    [smiley=beer.gif]

Cheers!  Take care!   :-*       [smiley=wave.gif]
