| Deleted User | "Longest duration." That could mean longest on the market; longest in game play; or longest because it was boreing; or longest becasue you really hate it. Or any number of other things.
I am going to define my "longest duration" as a game that was long because it took me a long time to decide to play it. My answer is The Longest Journey. The first time I started to play the game is was not in the mood for the dialogue and I just couldn't get into the story. Geez, where was my brain? I waited a few months and tried again. And the second time around was magic. I loved it. And it wasn't nearly long enough.

Maybe that affected my perception of the game's duration : But still, it was really long.

I am about 2/3-3/4 thru Riven having, for some reason, never played it in the past. I almost wish it was endless; it is perfect!

The future ain't what it used to be!

It also made me aware that there is a sort of vague, tacit but important "understanding" between designer and player: you don't make the player an accomplice to your cruelty. That's exactly what FF did on two occasions and I was literally shocked by the outcome of my actions and stopped playing it for a while. Even so, it's a real funny game too, tremendous voiceacting.

Godfather, asuming you mean longest playing time: TLJ, Riven, GK3 (or was that just because of the Serpent Rouge puzzle?), RAMA (seemed endless and I never got to finish it before my hard drive crashed), Schizm (or did that just have to do with puzzle obscurity?). Ican't remember the time factor accurately enough to chose just one. Sorry!
Still adventuring after all these years!

I just finished Myst again, after a few hours of playing. It's not a very long game when you think about it. But then, I had some old notes and my distant memories of the game to help me. Now I'm going to start on Riven, and from what you're saying it seems I'm in for a long ride!

adventuredog schizm wasn't that difficult (well some parts were ) but you had to do a lot of thinking and of course to be good at maths!
Betje i haven't played Feeble files!! soooo are you sure i should buy it???
Sirdave i agree with you on that!! RIven was PERFECT!!!
upc: yippe, lighthouse is just an awful nightmare >
MALIA: The longest journey was 'long' but absolutely perfect (that's the reason it sits on the top of my list )
BTW maliaG when you say seaworld you mean the riddle with the crystals ???

| Deleted User | I remembered Stooge said about Feeble Files . Its quite challenging. I dont seem to find it anywhere here! Meaning I have to buy online.
My longest time duration of playing an AG was Faust. Buggy and I had to change all the gama and stuff to brighten the surrounding. Sometimes it was very frustriating ! Thats why I had to hold back for a while.
I still haven't played Riven and it never occur to me to quit TLJ for a while . I was playing it like mad for a week! I was crazy enough to solve some puzzles during lecture . Man, I loved that game.

Don't get me wrong Godfather - Schizm is in my top 5 - I was a Math major many moons ago at university - it's just not often that one comes across so many logic and geometry problems in a game. Some of the puzzles were so easy, in contrast, that I thought at first I must be doing something wrong. I was really fooled by the vase puzzle for the LOOONNGGEESSTT time.

I HATED Schizm. Bad acting and far too mathematical for me. Something lacking too, probably heart. Never finished it.
Betje i haven't played Feeble files!! soooo are you sure i should buy it???
Yes! It IS a very funny game, and I did like it a lot (once I had gotten over the fact that I had caused the death of an endearing NPC). JA gave it an A. It will cost you 10 British Pounds plus shipping (16 dollars?) if you buy it here:

That's a real bargain for a brand new game that will take forever to finish. BTW, it's the same company that produced all the Simon the Sorcerer games.
Sirdave i agree with you on that!! RIven was PERFECT!!!
Riven will always be in my top ten. Always.

Lighthouse, another very long game, devoured my nerves along with my time and was also quite hard, but certainly not one of my favorites. When I finished it, I felt relief!

A very wise decision, Citizen!
Please report back to either msadv or me within 2 weeks or you'll be a candidate for a personality restructuring, the process that creates love and worship for the Omnibrain, which normal Citizens possess naturally.
So take a good hard look at Stooge's little facey and remember... Rebellion Never Looked So Pathetic!!!

After Simon 3D, I'm not so sure that that is a recommendation !
Could you enlighten me why you think Riven is that good? I'm in a constant doubt whether I should buy it or not. A lot of ppl on this board speak so highly of it. To be fair I must tell you I hate (as in 'really don't like') Myst. Is it similar?
