Oddly enough, the game isn't running for me again.  Go figure... :-/

Somehow with a name like "Mona", I expected something a bit deeper and sultry - not some high pitched little girls voice.

I think I know what you mean. I thought a Catherine Zeta-Jones sort of voice would have been appropriate; and was expecting something along those lines. Instead, I was surprised to hear almost the opposite.

I just played the demo, I didn't encounter any technical problems whatsoever although my PC is far from top notch.

I suppose that if I try hard I can find a thing or two I wasn't crazy about, but all I'm going to say is that I will definitely buy this game as I am certain that I will enjoy it. It's just so... LucasArtsy.
And after enduring Simon the Sorcerer 4, I can cope with any voice.

It's funny I'm thinking the same thing only with Dracula Origins in it's place. "I AM IN NEED OF SOMETHING!"

Do you have Process Explorer on your computer?
Assuming the game uses SecuROM v.7 (as has been reported), and that the copy "protection" has been incorporated into the demo the way it has with other game demos, SecuROM v.7 will not allow the game to run if it detects "Process Explorer."
http://forum.sysinternals.com/printer_friendly_posts.asp?TID=10337

When people complained, Sony claimed it was done on purpose because Process Explorer could be used for debugging.
http://forum.sysinternals.com/printer_friendly_posts.asp?TID=11000

Anyway there is now a workaround.
http://forum.sysinternals.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=11086

The cracked version of the game is already released, so all Sony did was annoy legitimate customers with their bull****.

I routinely run process explorer and didn't have any issues with the demo.  I was completely unaware of the conflict with SecuROM - interesting read.

What?

Deleted UserI've tried a few demos in the past, but in this case is it common to find that the demo version is not a part of the actual game itself?

Can someone please give me the actual release date? It's clear it's not the 25th since every website has now updated to say "
ec 3rd'. However who's to say that won't change too?

I would have just preferred it was released over steam. That would clearly make things easier.

Isn't it already available for purchase here (GamersGate)? http://www.gamersgate.com/index.php?page=product&what=view&sku=DD-AVS&via=newly_added

It appears to have been already released in Europe (although with limited supply perhaps) since MaGtRo has already published a walk through.  To the best of my knowledge, the US release date is Dec. 2

Gamers Gate is the digital download version if you choose to go that route.

Yes but that's $10 more just to have securom attached. The retail copy is only $29. Why pay more to have that crap? Not that I know whether the retail has it or not.

Wouldn't the disc version be the one with the SecuROM while the download version would have online activation?

SecuRom IS online activation. The new generation of Securom is an online checker ala Mass Effect / Spore. Gamersgate uses Securom.

So no, I'd rather pay $10 less and see what kind of DRM the retail has than go for 100% guarunteed securom.

I'm very tempted to buy the box version when it's out... and then install a pirate version instead.

Another online choice -

http://www.gamesplanet.com/UK/pc-games/buy-download-A-Vampyre-Story-1004-14.html

According to their about section this is either Securom or something very much like it (activated / 3 install limit)

According to play.com, they have already posted my boxed version and it should arrive soon

Don't suppose they ship to Canada?
I'd rather get it before next week because I have it off work. Somehow I don't see that happening.

Also note - I read it uses Securom V7 in the retail game but *not* the online activation kind. Which means it's a simple disc check.

When you get it, try running ProtectionID on it and see if it identifies SecuROM (and if you require an internet connection in order to install or "activate" it). There have certainly been disc versions of games that had SecuROM restrictions on them. Check the Amazon reviews for Spore and Mass Effect.

According to this list -

http://reclaimyourgame.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=45&Itemid=11

It uses Securom v 7 but no online activation (bold = online). So you can rest easy.

Amazon.ca - "Usually ships within 1 to 2 months."

What the holy hell is going on with this game? I may just crack and get the digital copy. It's not worth all this frustration. If I want a hardcopy I can just get one later since it's not that expensive.

The game did indeed arrive this morning, but I didn't have the time to even install it. Hopefully I'll manage to play a couple of hours later and post my impressions tomorrow...

After buying the DVD version of this & receiving it a few few days ago I was very disappointed to read that you only get half the game - apparently it doesn't conclude & you have to wait for the sequel to end the game!   [smiley=furious.gif] Just thought you should know!
