Really interesting, however, is the bit where you can carry the memory of an inventory item with you, for stuff you don't need yet or isn't practical to carry, but will use later. Novel idea.
Mona's voice acting bugged me at first, but I didn't mind as much as I continued to play.
I know a demo doesn't really let one give a concrete "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" for a game, but I basically liked what I saw here, short as it was.

As expected the visuals are very nice. Unfortunately the writing and characters did not grab me at all, and Mona's VA was very grating.
A game like this stands or falls on its writing and characters. After the demo it's no longer a certain buy, will wait for some post-release impressions and reviews.

Yeah, was kinda nice. Though, I hope Mona does not go through the entire "I don't need this now, but will remember it for later" spiel every time in the final game, was a little annoying even in the demo.
A couple of "trigger" bugs which were frustrating, but do not ultimately affect my opinion of the game.

I'll either turn the voices off or use the german ones if I can.

I agree with you. Let's hope that the final version will not have these irritating issues.
....set the controls for the heart of the sun....

Well it's done isn't it? I got the impression from the news article -
"Today marks the first release of "A Vampyre Story" in it's first territory."
So what you see is what you'll get.

Pros
* Background graphics are great. * Loved the interface * Loved the "phantom inventory items" where it says I might need it later
Cons
* Mona's Voice was dreadful
So overall loved it apart from the voice of the main character.

I didn't like some of the close-up animations and felt they looked better from a distance. But, like most cartoon games, it is just too childish, or silly without being funny, too much of the time. It does appear to be a game of quality and some substance.

This is an issue with me too. Vampyre Story seems too "light", and just from the demo, the writing, particularly the humour was not particularly strong. Obligatory wise-cracking side-kick is not a negative in and of itself, but an uninspiring one is. Too early to tell which side Froderick falls on, but the demo was not promising.
I loved the Monkey Islands, Grim Fandango, Sam and Max, so do not have a blanket dislike of humorous, cartoony adventures, but good writing is key. I'm not yet sold on A Vampyre Story.

Not sure what sort of DRM gamersgate uses, I might wait.

Seriously... what a joke. I went through 7 pages of "Click Here to Download" links. Each page loaded up slower than the previous one. After all that it took me to FileFront to download. Why couldn't they just link directly to FileFront? or Gamershell? or...nevermind...
I've been looking forward to this. The bad Mona voice acting is a bit alarming, but I'll reserve judgment until I've seen it.

Somehow with a name like "Mona", I expected something a bit deeper and sultry - not some high pitched little girls voice.
Graphically it is beautiful, but that was expected based on the gorgeous screen shots we've been teased with. Shrouds animations looked fantastic.
As demos go, I think they are missing the mark. I have some thoughts about that that I've brought up before in the past, but I think I'll save it for a new thread later.

I thought it was rather lack luster as well (after all the hype). I've never, and I mean never, been put off by voice acting before - but listening to Mona speak was like being force fed acrid horse pills.
It's pretty - but I'm gonna wait for the patch.
