Yes, it is Sierra Nevada - but the logo depicts one particular piece of rock.
Hint: Sierra On-line's HQ was located very close to a famous National Park.

Yes, Yosemite is the name of the National Park. But that's just one half of the answer
BTW Sierra On-Line used to be in Coarsegold, CA. I think it's about 20 miles or so south of Yosemite.
