So we're all buying it right? RIGHT?? Seriously I can't wait for it. Looks amazing. I know looks can be decieving, but it's nice to see a detailed adventure thats taken years to develop see the light of day.

I'm putting this and Gray Matter onto the "does this genre have what it takes anymore" pedestal. If they fail then....

(Not that it will stop me from being brutally honest about the pair after playing them.)

Yup, I've ordered from the JA store. This and Gray Matter are essentially the only the two adventure games I'm genuinely excited about also. (Well, there's also The Fool and His Money, but that's almost a pure puzzle game rather than an adventure game.)

I feel much the same way you do. I'm pretty depressed over what the genre is turning out these days, so I'm hoping these games turn out all right. I'm just trying to ignore the fact that nearly every game I've looked forward to in the last few years has been a disappointment.  :-/

i've been very disillusioned lately, especially after this last year and all those "looks great, turns out crap" instances i had, so i am not getting my hopes up about anything... certainly vampyre story is the #1 game on my looking-forward-to list though, along with mdna's color of murder (i really liked all their games)... of course the real #1s are culpa innata 2 and darkfall 3, but those are in the distant future

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

We don't even know when the german release will be. Just have to sit and wait. In the mean time we have this game.

Deleted UserI just don't know where I fall on this game right now as I'm generally not a fan of cartoonish type games. I did like the trailer however. I'll probably wait to see the reviews and comments on it here at JA.

Yup, I've ordered via JA Store and excited to look forward to it.  This might be the first cartoony game I can get my teeth into!!  hehe.
sorry) November 17 perhaps now?  sigh.

It's true that some games don't live up to expectations -- for me, Culpa was the year's big let-down.  But Grey Matter and Vampyre should keep me optimistic!!

Anyone have any word on what's up with TLJ/Dreamfall, et al?

Not really but Bill TIller has said....

Hi All Bill Tiller here,
Yes the game will be out very soon and relay depends on how quickly the game can be manufactured and shipped for the in store date, but it still could be Halloween. The hold up is making sure our low-end machines have good video performance for our FMVs. We want to make the FMV viewing experience a good one for those players who don’t have the latest high-end machines. That should be addressed soon, probably in the next ten days. But after that I don’t know how long it will take to actually get in stores.

Anyway I just wanted to let you know what the current hold up is. But other than and a few minor bugs we are pretty much done. We can now get back to full production on AVS 2 and our soon to be announce second project. That game will be announced by our other publisher once the game demo is more polished and we have a final title and graphic for the title. We had a generic name for it but the publisher wanted a name that was unique but still expressed the genre of the story. More on that I hope soon. But right now, mums the word.
But what I can say is that so far it looks really good and it has been so much easier getting this game and AVS2 going now that our engine is done, plus we hired some kick butt programmers, some of whom worked on the Force Unleashed Engine, to add features to our engine and to write tools to speed up our production time. I am amazed how fast a art gets modeled and scripted into the game so we can play it right away. These next two productions will go so much more smoothly. Our team is doing a fantastic job and really taking advantage of what they learned don AVS1. May hats of to them! Thanks guys.

Now that AVS is done for me I am going to find time to upgrade the graphics on the web site, starting with the front page. I wanted to do flash but no money in the budget for that this year, but it will get a new coat of paint.

Thanks all,
Bill Tiller

Won't it really confuse gamers without a solid date? I mean with so many other games coming in the next 3 weeks....

I think people get too hung up on 'solid release dates'. Does it really matter if it comes out this week or the next or even, for that matter, next year?

If it's a good game when played then that's all that should matter.

Missing a sales target (Halloween, Christmas, etc.) may not be so good but that will affect their sales potential not the game or customers.

Why advertise a date that means nothing?  Why not say "Around October sometime"?  Intentional statements should mean something.  I mean, if you tell me your name is Bob, why don't I just call you Brob, or Klob? What does it matter--a B, a K...?

Often, this date postponing is a tactic to build anxious anticipation. Sometimes it is just sloppiness. But if the developer puts at date out there without a qualifier, why not believe they mean it?

Then again, tomorrow is Monday. It says so on the calendar. But, heck, what's the big deal?  I'll just not believe it and instead just go with Sunday for another 24 hours.  What's the diff?

Why say a date at all then? Also complaining about sales post-release when a date isn't set....I can't sympathize. This is a very busy time for games right now and without a solid date one has to babysit the website or visit the retail store every few days.

Imagine if movie theaters did this - Spider-man 4: Coming whenever to a theatre near you (or not, maybe a theatre a few blocks from you might get it)

Well I like to know the date and sure I care when its released... I might get hit by a truck next week.

Really though its more important for a game to be working properly than pushed to soon and ruined.  I still like approx dates and getting pushed is a bummer but still I know its coming out soon.

I sent an email to Dave yesterday and he replied with:

I'm hoping that Vampyre is still on track, but I don't have confirmation of that yet.

Well maybe your priority should be looking both ways rather than waiting for a game.

I......hate it when I'm right
Didn't think they'd be able to finish, produce and ship in under a week.

Ah well, lot's of other games to play right now. It's also better for sales, given the massive amount of AAA titles.
