Spoiler AlertObviously a terrorist he is addressing there.
Yup, he is.
It sounds like one of the things that Geralt, the Witcher would say. When are you playing that, btw? :
Whoo boy, I'm too backed up on games to consider it any time soon. Plus it sounded too grim and morally ambivalent for my taste. Though you folks made it sound more interesting than I thought it was at first, from the peeks I occasionally stole of your Witcher thread. So I'm undecided. Maybe I'll play it sometime, maybe not. :-/

| Deleted User | Grim and morally ambivalent? Certainly a whole lot less so than Fallout 3, for instance. You don't get to do evil, even if you do come up against difficult choices to make.
Talking of morals, I've been reading a bit more again of Sapkowski's literature during recent excursion to the beach 8-) , and it struck me once again how many people do not sufficiently see in the game, how much empathy Geralt really has with the weak and innocent, and also, that he really likes women in a good way.
Basically he is a good guy, although a little rough around the edges.
I was planning to write a bit about it in The Witcher thread. When I have time.

As for Fallout 3, I barely even started the main quest. I can't seem to find GNR .

You'll find it eventually.. In the meantime, enjoy yourself looking for it!

Anyone else loving this genre? I noticed that there are many available through the front page of JA. I ended up joining the game club through BigFish because it's cheaper there.
Apologies in advance if this has been covered....this thread is 11 pages!

Anyway, I wouldn't worry too much about retreading old ground where likes, dislikes and opinion are concerned: people come and go all the time, and opinions change, too, so it's nice to revisit topics every once in a while. As far as I know, though, casual games haven't really come up in this thread before.

I suspect Randy Slugansky (the owner of this site), and Karla, part of the admin team, might like them, because they've posted a lo-o-o-t of reviews for casual games. It might even be rather nice if they started a seperate board for these, you know.
You know, I must really try one of those time managment games. Just for fun, I tried the demo for "The Apprentice" the other day, and I did have lotsa fun with it...

Melly, I enjoy the hidden objects games, matching 3 (been through Zuma 6 times now), fun construction games like Enigmo, and all kinds of spelling games. I also play a mean game of backgammon and Yahtzee.

Sorry, as I don't have all that much experience with "mainstream" casual game politics (besides that I hate what they did with CSI NY, because I was expecting a game similar to the previous CSI games), I'm not too sure what you mean? Are time-managment games considered "elitist" amongst casual games? :-?
Or do you mean because I suggested it would be nice if they had their own board? I merely suggested that, because on many forums (such as GameBoomers, for instance, they do). I had not meant to imply that they are not welcome in the "other games" board. (...or did I come across as too "separitist"? [smiley=devil_smiley_grintail.gif] ) In any case, - I agree they are fine here, especially as, like JKing had suggested, JA does not have a huge "casual" or "other" game following, anyway, so we should all fit nicely into this board.
Btw, both Arkadia and myself have chatted here about casual games such as Spore, and Arkadia (I think) and Inesrocks about The Sims, so it's not as if we don't have a history of them here. I suspect many of the simulations like the city builders I love to play might also borderline onto casual games, anyway. I also like to play jigsaws, brainteasers, chess, and all sorts of similar games. And who will tell me without lying that they have never in their lives lost several hours to Solitaire? [smiley=devil_smiley_grintail.gif]
So no "elitism" intended, LadyK. :-* :-* :-*
....and just to put my money where my mouth is, I'd be quite happy to chat casual games with you, Melly! Tell me, do you like those theme-park type games, and have you tried "The Apprentice" yet? The latter is actually my sole experience with time managment so far, but as I really seem to enjoy the time-managment genre, I'd be glad to learn a bit more about it from you - such as suggestions on nice time-managment games, if you have any. Hang on - I suspect the Sims might be time-managment? I had, long ago, only tried the very first Sims, and had found it too tedious to be enjoyable. I liked The Apprentice, because you have to think fast and click fast all the time.
Do The Sims get any better? I guess I should ask Ines about that. :
Oh, and those Ravenhurst Files look like very nice games I had thought I should try out some time.

You said that they should have a separate board. I took that to mean that you didn't want them discussed here. I guess you meant a separate section of the forums, although this is a general non-adventure game thread.
Regarding my use of "elitist," I was poking at you a bit for your use of it in the trivia section. [img]http://bestsmileys.com/poking/2.gif[/img]

Nah. Misunderstanding. I said "It might even be rather nice.. " in the sense of conjecture that it would give them more space and exposure, the way they have at Boomers. And, "board" in the way it is meant at Gamefaqs - each game has it's own "board", which I suppose that on this site might mean "section"? Whatever, I hope the misunderstanding is cleared, now.

Yeah, that would have been good, if only it would have fit into the header line... (Headers are quite severely limited in character space here at JA)

I wondered why you were being so quiet. :-?
Ah, well - these things happen to the best of us. :-/ It also happens to me sometimes.
Well, I hope you recover back to normal soon. We're missing all your gaming feedback that you always used to give so generously!

Yes, it's really rare although I found it on ebay for 1500$!

| Deleted User | Started playing a bit of Drakensang again. Just managed to beat my foes in the Amazon quest, and I've also finished with Grimtooth Castle. Heavens, but what a lot of sneaking around! I bought Imperium Romanum quite a while ago, and since I saw that there is already a successor out, I've decided I really must whip my Imperium Romanum out and play it a bit.
Which I shall promptly do, as soon as I've recovered from Syberia 2...

So far it's lovely and shows great promise, though it'll take me a while to get used to combat, I think. Perhaps I'd have better luck with a controller, mind you....

(Let alone that I really appreciated the Chinese setting as opposed to the usual anime-type Japanese setting.) I said no to a replay of Silverfall the other day, and I am closing my ears, JKing. I don't want to hear you. >

Ok, just one teeny thing.... which character did you choose? :

(I ended up choosing Radiant Jen Zi, the fast female, by the way...)

Ok, watch me game like a fiend now, so that I can quickly finish something in order to start with this one.... [smiley=rofl.gif]
Hmmm- I played the balanced female last - with the dusty pink short top. Next time round I was thinking of either doing the tattooed male, or that big ox of a guy. I must warn you that there are romance options in the game - even for male gay ones, eh? er... no, well that was not... I mean... well, I mean to say that, well, since you chose a female, you might be getting mi... *sigh* well - anyway , there are not gay female options (that I know of - but maybe there are.. ) . Just male gay and heterosexual that I know of. Why am I even telling you this? :-[

well - anyway , there are not gay female options (that I know of - but maybe there are.. ) . Just male gay and heterosexual that I know of. I find that somewhat surprising, but hardly troubling: roleplay is roleplay, after all.

| Deleted User | Well, I might be mistaken JKing.. there might be female<-> female too. (Since there is one female, and one male NPC candidate for romance. Nothing heavy, anyway, just some sentimental talk and an intimate kiss or so.) The thing is, it's actually quite possible to sidestep the romance options, depending on your dialogue that you choose. If you're interested you can check out the romance/kissing scenes on Youtube. (To know what you might be letting yourself in for, if you accidentally choose the wrong dialogue... )
I suppose you won't believe me if I tell you that I avoided the romance..- it just felt so out of place and stuck on...
