Well, I like the music and its atmosphere and generally am having a good time. I hope that I'll helpl the quiet American school of Leafmore to stand on its feet again away from the hideous monsters! Well to tell you the truth I don't have the slightest idea but logically start with the first one. It's really good!

Ok, then. I'll look out for it. I'm not in a hurry (got lots of other games) after all!

Let us know what you think. My biggest gripe was the saving system, but it might not bother you?

Status : Online | Finally got my copy of Darkfall Online, a new MMORPG. It's relatively unique in that you're free to kill any other player at any time, and can fully loot their bodies. It's got a lot of work to do before it really shines, but I'm enjoying it.
I'm currently wondering what AG to play next out of my stack of a million. Hmmmm.

It has been developed in Greece by a team consisting of Greeks and Swedes, so I'll be very glad to see it succeed commercially, even though I'm not into MMORPGs. And who knows, if a free trial period becomes available, you may meet me online.
They do not try to compete directly with WoW, but provide a different, more realistic and even gritty experience that will appeal to a different sort of player. Their ambition is for DarkFall Online to reach the subscription numbers and overall fan base of Eve Online. They are already working on new projects, while of course being fully committed to the support of DFO.

Well, it doesn't bother me at all. I actually like it. Hack and slash, wandering around, killing beasts and elfs. It's not stg special at the moment, you just butcher and continue fighting. The world is immense and if you want to discover everything on the map I suppose you will be playing for months. The intro was lovely and I chose the Warrior of Shadows.

| Deleted User | Well, I did say many times that the point and leveling system is rather complex for beginner RPG players to cut their teeth on... Not that I'm a terribly experienced player myself, but anyway, it took me quite a while until I figured out exactly how it worked.
But don't judge yourself by this game, Taurnil. There are lots of others. If you enjoy action RPG's, why don't you use them as a gentle introduction? Have you ever tried Jade Empire, btw?

If you haven't already, definitely get Divine Divinity for the PC. It is a perfect cross between action-RPGs and classic-style RPGs with a very flexible leveling system and lots of special items that help balance combat.
For instance, you can put points into just one or two key abilities in a given class like Deadly Gift in order to use those wonderfully effective Scorpion Traps or Poisoned Weapon to really bolster your killing power.
There are also special charms you can find / loot / buy that fit into a wide variety of weapons, armors and other items to give them more power / protection and to give your character new / better abilities - no matter your class or skills.
Also, with a terrific portal system that becomes progressively more available as you discover / activate them, you can establish several secure outposts all around the world map for storing a huge assortment of goodies. Additionally, there are two portable teleportation pyramids that allow you magically zip in and out of most dangerous areas. These are a great way to escape a deadly enemy horde to rest, heal and re-arm. Just don't ever forget to take them with you when you leave.
Beyond the terrific combat, Divine Divinity also has a pretty cool story, lots of good quests and one of the liveliest game worlds ever. It's a big game world too with plenty of diverse areas and enemies galore.
Lastly, it is a pure SP solo-character game, so there are no party members to worry about. There are however loads of NPCs to meet and talk to all along the way.
Cheers, Terry

The game was released on the 25th of February. I've been trying to buy it since then, but they've had the most ridiculously craptacular launch ever and have only been releasing a limited amount of copies a few times a week. So it took me over a month to secure my copy of a game. I think the word 'finally' was pretty accurate
I've been following the game for a while now (extremely excitedly) and now having played it, it's certainly not nearly all it was cracked up to be, but it's still a fun game. I don't know if I would say it's worth breaking a no-MMO rule for (though I don't see why anyone would impose that rule upon themself ) but I am enjoying it. It reminds me more of EQ1 than Ultima Online, though.

I'm now exploring the wasteland and doing those quests for Moira. Also, I think I'm done with the Pipes quest, but now I can't find the guy who gave it to me...
Hi Shany, I somehow missed this post of yours - well done with the Burke thing!
Regarding the pipes - are you talking about that oldish black man that is the caretaker of the water purifying plant? When I was still playing this game a lot, I remember from some other forums that there is a bug, that involved the old guy falling off those platforms and getting himself killed. In any case, the end result would be that you cannot find him anywhere. There is a workaround, invloving a cheat to "resurrect" him. If you're still playing this, and if you're interested, I could find the cheat and post it on here for you.

Thanks for letting me know. I actually found out about this glitch yesterday! I think I know where to find the cheat so that's ok.
Anyway I'm still playing the game and I'm finally having fun. I've started using the local map alot more so I don't get lost.
I have to say, this game has some really creepy places: Spoiler AlertThe caves in the Oasis. Holy crap, I couldn't get out of there fast enough. Having to swim underwater and then that cave wall that looks like a face... [smiley=shudder.gif]
Then there was Vault 106 with the weird flashbacks, the computer messages and the hallucinations of people from vault 101 trying to kill you.

Crawling through duct work, rappelling down walls and busting through windows, tapping into conversations, sneaking from shadow to shadow, sniping bad guys, etc. It's shaping up to be a relatively short game, but what there is, is pretty good. And Sam Fisher is my kind of guy. Taciturn, with a dry sense of humor. My favorite exchange so far:
Spoiler AlertSam Fisher: You must be Ivan. Ivan: You are police? You are American? Sam Fisher: Yes and no. The police are on their way. Till they get here I'm the only friend you've got, and I'm not a very good one. Ivan: We have to leave. We have to hurry. They'll find us soon. Sam Fisher: Thats not my job. i'm here for your encryption key. Ivan: That wasn't the deal. Sam Fisher: The deal still stands. The feds will get you out of here alive but first you have to give me the key. Ivan: That wasn't the deal I made with the woman on the phone. Sam Fisher: Listen do I come to your job and tell you how to murder civilians? Ivan: What? Sam Fisher: No. So don't come to my job and tell me how to do it. The feds are on the way or here already. You're gonna be fine. Now you can give me the key or I can take it. Ivan: That wasn't the deal. Sam Fisher: You're working from a VERY limited phrase book. Listen, just give me the key. I'm tired and I hate making people scream. It gets me down. Ivan: Here.

What a co-incidence, then, that I stumbled upon your oldish post yesterday...! Anyway - I suppose you have been warned already that at a certain point in the MQ, it sort of sweeps you along, and doesn't really let you loose to do side quests, and then suddenly the end is upon you, and you can't go back. Well, this is what happened to me, (although I did get to do all the more obvious side-quests, I didn't do much exploring off the beaten track) so I didn't even get to explore all of the places you mentioned; but it sure is making me itch to jump back in and go and check them out.... :

Spoiler AlertObviously a terrorist he is addressing there. It sounds like one of the things that Geralt, the Witcher would say. When are you playing that, btw? :
Anyway, I played this game past that first horrible little bit Spoiler Alertwith the electrocuted victim, but I sort of got stuck on that mazey boat, put the game down to come back to it later, and still have not had the chance to, 2 years later....

The "Broken Steel" DLC pack will allow you to continue the game after you finish the main quest, and sets the level cap to 30. It also makes a major change to a situation that was supposed to add dramatic tension in the finale, but didn't make much sense. Good of Bethe$da to let us pay to fix a glaring logic gap in the game's MQ >.
