that is interesting about the swoop race, i always skip them.... so I did not encounter that in my own play thru for several versions of the Patch, as it was being developed. Drop the team a line about that one, it may be of interest...
yes they did a good job on the paths in the story line, it develops in some interesting ways and it is always fun to see more of the amazing SW universe.

I'm already playing this before the release date, because Steam goofed up the pre-purchase and released it too early

What you can do is build bus/tram/metro/... lines to improve traffic. Like Simcity4: Rush Hour but much more detailed

Sorry, I should have made myself clearer. I should have said "I enjoy managment simulations in general" ..-or whatever genre games like "Railroad Empire" or the like actually falls in. I suppose City builders might fall into that genre? Though I actually kinda prefer city builders to the rest of them, I think...
...so you say it's fun, though, Markonikov? Thats' cool! [smiley=thumbup.gif]

Yep, they all fit it that genre, but there are so much transport management games, that they have their own subgenre.
When it comes to city-builders, i only play Simcity. All the others are stupid clones 8-)

Anyway, as I had promised Chris, I installed ME 2 and have started off, but I'd like to know which psych profile gives the nicest story: Ruthless or War Hero? Could anyone here tell me? (Also, I decided to choose Colonist.)
I'm playing a female this time around, and it's a pretty cool feeling, i must say, if slightly wierd, since I'd done my bit of ME1 as a man. I'm tempted to restart ME 1, this time disabling autosave from the start and see if it won't fare better with me.
Of course, next time around I'd be playing as a female. 8-)

It was also slightly harder, and it had you use almost all of your characters, instead of how it was in KOTOR1, where you would build an ideal party and stick with it.

When I couldn't find the icon for Drakensang: River of Time on my desktop, a game I know I had applied a no-CD patch to, I impulsively clicked on Gothic 3 - not sure whether it was one of the games I had also applied a no-CD patch to, since I'd only started with this practice recently, but really didn't feel up to rifling trough my rather untidy shelves for game discs.
To my surprise, the game did start to play without the disc, so huzzah for no-disc patches! Thanks to just such a patch, I'm busy playing Gothic 3 now. 8-)

Status : Offline | Sorry about your stressful Week Trav. well Gothic is a good tonic..i especially have enjoyed the desert area, it is so detailed and the ruins and the other things in that region are so well done and so unique to that game....
i had to give up on ME2 it wont start for me.. sigh. ah well, i dont have time to wrestle with it for now. glad you are enjoying it. I have my plate full with starting work on new paintings and research into anime and Japanese animation for my research into modern visual modes....and some other stuff. Enjoy Gothic.
Fnord i am glad you enjoyed KoTOR2, it is indeed quite a complex plot and would have been even more so if they had added some things that there was not time to complete for release as LucasArts was bugging them to get it out the door....there was an entire planet that got deleted and some other stuff...but the restoration mod restores a lot of the things that were not finished as the developers included the files in the release I agree it was quite complex and you get to use more of your party....and i enjoyed the romance possible with several of the female characters that was a fun aspect and the changes they go thru if they turn to the Dark Side including a change of costume. Very clever. There is a mod to improve the handmaidens that helps make them more interesting also.

Status : Offline | I'm currently slogging through Crysis; just finished that truly annoying tank driving level. The game as a whole hasn't been as bad as that, but I haven't found it anywhere near as stellar as most of the reviews would have had me believe. It's still worth the play through for the amazing graphics, though. I don't really keep up with graphical advancements, so I imagine it's been long surpassed by something else. But I'm finding the level of detail, particularly all the incidental bits, jaw dropping. Shame it's not put to better use, as the game world is rather limited, or more limited than it seems at a glance. A sandbox RPG with these kind of graphics would be wonderful.
And I'm enjoying the nanosuit concept, or more particularly, the invisibility function. It lets an FPS clod like me essentially take a time out and plan what I want to do in the middle of a fire fight. Or get in the first shot. [s]Or ducking out and running for it[/s], er, tactically retreating. :

Metro 2033 is up there too, but for the more open world setting crysis is still the best looking game of that type in terms of graphical power.

That is a bit worrying actually. Crysis was released in 2007, and for a game, that should be a long time ago. Better graphics drives the development of better computers forward, and while it means that you have to buy a new computer more often (something that I can't afford), better computers means a lot for the world. Imagine doing complex protein synthesis calculations on a computer from 2000....

Status : Offline | Crytek which made Crysis is a remarkable german company..they have worked for years perfecting really really good 3D worlds and their game engines...Far Cry was the start and it remains a fantastic game too, the effects and the feeling of immersion in the world is just amazing and the sandbox editor system that comes with their games allows the players and fans to continue the work of development in any direction they wish, there is a mod for Far Cry called Matto 4 http://farcry.filefront.com/file/Matto4;74443 which is literaly better than the parent game itself and the crytek people have themselves said so...so the entire approach to world making is very cooperative and productive at Crytek. Crysis is indeed fantastic. There is a Natural Mod that makes the day night cycle even better for Crysis and very realistic. I reccomend it to anyone playing that game. I expect them to keep going with improvements....tho the new Tomb Raider game TR Underworld is just about as good and even AS good as Crysis in some ways, they too have kept pushing the envelope with graphics.
remarkable times for such things.

Oh well, time for some touhou while I figure out what to play next.
Crytech seem to be trying to move forward, as far as graphics goes, but a lot of companies do not. And it is this stagnation that scares me.

| Deleted User | Finished Silent Hill 5 and enjoyed it quite a bit. The second half was definitely better than the first, though I found the ending a little rushed. I played the PC version and found the keyboard and mouse controls a little clunky. In all, it was a good game and I'd recommend it to any anyone who likes survival horror. I'm really hoping the upcoming 8th installment (Silent Hill Downpour) will eventually be released for the PC.
Not 100% sure on my next game but Dead Space 2 is up there on the list. Happy Gaming.

It is beautiful, fun, exciting, adventurous, intrigiing, historically and culturally accurate and a thrill all around, from the characters to the settings to the vids to the design....a masterwork.
Enjoy and do everything and ALL the side quests..you wont regret it.

| Deleted User | Received my 'Dead Space 2 Collectors Edition' yesterday and hope to start playing tonight. The enclosed replica plasma cutter is cool but a little cheesy. The lights are nice and bright, which my cats like to chase. I'll be adding it to my collection of toys on the top shelf of my computer desk. Happy Gaming.
