After watching a few informative videos on youtube I finally came to my senses and decided to order the game. Uh-oh. Looks as though there are possibly two versions, the standard US version and another with the pegi logo. I'm wondering if they are identical or not or if I should even care. :-/

Starting to get back into my groove though and doing better. I HATED the DMR in past halo games and l always used the BR instead but now the DMR is the main weapon so you have to get used to it.
Perhaps check and make sure your son isn't part of Skynet .

I'll add you Stiler, my main tag is AgentDanaScully (I have a couple). I've been playing Reach every day so I should be easy to find, though I warn you my friends and I are those 'inhuman' players you speak of - my boyfriend is actually 'one of the best Halo players in the world' (I say that with a moderately straight face, he has won the World Cyber Games International Championship and many of the major Halo tournaments) and we tend to play with people 'in that circle' - all very nice people, but they do take winning seriously
I am confused what you mean by hating the DMR is past Halo games? The DMR is a new addition to Reach, it hasn't been in any of the past Halo games. I was always a fan of the BR myself, I don't enjoy the DMR either.

The DMR to me is quite like the BR except it fires in one shot instead of a small burst but the overall feel/mechanics are very similar to how the BR was. Was never that found of the BR.

Do you play Halo in Xbox Live? If so, my son's name is Sting Shock.  Not sure if there's a space or not). He's top-notch.

Yep - I play on Xbox Live almost every day. Tell him to add AgentDanaScully if he's interested If he's serious about competing, I can direct him a few ways (though as a parent I'm not sure if you'd be too supportive of your child going out of their way to compete at top level in a video game - I don't think I would be).

ys Trav, Knights of the Nine is a lot of fun, a great quest. there is one hint that will be useful towards the end of it, but i will wait until i see you progressing ...
i would love to see the newer halos....but i may have to to content myself when i can game again with Crysis which i have but never played and re installing Sin and Wages of Sin.

Ah, I wasn't sure how old he was (or you) I retract my child statement!
I only said so because I know an overwhelming amount of teens/preteens that play unhealthy amounts of Halo each day in order to try to attain something called 'pro status' - placing top 16 at one (or all)of the major Halo tournaments (called MLGs). I know of many that play eight hours a day, every day, and that is no exaggeration. They call it 'practice' and put all the time and dedication into it you would expect from a determined young athlete, except, in my humble opinion, becoming extremely good at a video game won't get you very far (though the best have netted over $100,000 a year - a feat extremely unlikely for most to achieve).

Still, he plays for fun with people he likes, not to compete and strut his prowess. He does always dominate. I've given him your info. He likes the group he's with (and he's been with for years). We'll see.
Side note, I did try Halo (the original) for PC and...hahaha. I stink, and I'm not sure that's a game made for PC.
Thank you!

In many ways it's a strategy game tailor made for me, cutting out the intimidating base/city building and tedious resource management and getting right to the fights. It's been fun building massive fleets and watching them butt heads against other armadas.
Yup, I said watching. You don't actually control your fleets in battle, but rather give them general orders before hand and let them have at it. This is more entertaining than you might think, a bit like watching a sporting competition and cheering for your side. And groaning when they don't do what you want. "Hey, our cruiser's getting pounded over there. Get over there and help him out!" "No, don't bother with those fighters, take on those cruisers....arrghh, too late!"
On the the downside, there's not as much strategy to ship building as I would like. The ships really need some balancing. It's much too easy to turn out big honking cruisers, and not bothering much (if at all) with frigates or fighters. And while it is fun for awhile to watch your dreadnaughts chew up your opponents, by the time I was done completing all the scenarios using this system, and unlocking all the bonus ships and armament, I was bored with the game. I hear the developer has a proper campaign in the works rather than isolated battles, however. I'm looking forward to that, it could liven up the game considerably.

*edit* I just finished Zelda: The minish cap for the second time. Still a good game, if a bit on the short & easy side.

My first thought was Soul Reaver 1, but then I thought the graphics look almost too nice.. I've actually only played a bit of the first game, not the second one.

Maybe they even deserve their own thread. They are excellent indeed! I love playing this game just before turning out the lights to go to sleep for the night. Relaxing, quaint, fun, brain-teasing and refreshing! It's a high quality DS 'puzzle' game.
I finished up Republic Commando (blew right through it because it was too dang easy... almost too easy it was lame - though being in the Star Wars universe, for me, is always a delight)
I'm now playing through Thief: Deadly Shadows after attempting to numerous times in the past. I had almost forgotten how extremely wicked awesome this game is. Wow, it's just crazy fun... I know Thief 4 is in the works too, I just wish there were more games like it out there (yes, I know about Splinter Cell, but that's 3rd person only and XerNosam likes his FPSneakers) I guess I can get my sneaking/thieving fix from Oblivion too if need be.
Playing: Skyrim: Dragonborn/Dawnguard; Torchlight 2; To The Moon; Far Cry 3
Finished: HomeFront; Far Cry 3; Dishonored
Always Playing: Half Life 2
Looking Forward To: BioShock: Infinite
Reading: BioShock: Rapture; SW: Revan
