Console wise I've been playing Call of duty: waw online.

I admit that it’s somewhat older and uses a game engine that’s at least a dozen years old, but even with its technical limitations, it has really sucked me in like nothing I’ve played since 2006. For some reasons, over the years I have tried to resist MPRPG’s and perhaps even the RPG genre in general. I think it was an early Prince of Persia game that I just got hung up on and it left a bad taste in the mouth. Then again, that was a long time ago, and with the availability of quality AG’s seemingly on a downward spiral, I’m learning to adapt my tastes.

The older ones were fun but could be very frustrating, trying to jump perfectly and the combat could be hard at times.
The newer version of the series (Starting with Prince of Persia: Sands of time) were still platformers but done in a great 3d style, I especially enjoyed Sands of time, the others were so so (especially warrior within).

Well, I'm glad to see that you seem to be enjoying Anachronox, Camaroboy, because it is supposed to be an RPG , (although some would call it a hybrid).
Games in the Prince of Persia franchise, have never been RPG's, they have always been Action-adventure Platformers. (Platformers being games like Tomb Raider where you jump and swing all over the place).
I'm wondering if you wouldn't enjoy System Shock. I haven't played it myself, but I plan to soon. Have you played it yet?

| Deleted User | My apologies for inadvertently classifying the Prince of Persia series. It definitely was a Prince of Persia though

and you’re right about the elements of game play: the jumping, the timing, the swinging, the swordplay, etc. I’ll admit it’s somewhat new to me and I’m probably a bit fuzzy in what constitutes the technical distinctions between RPG and AAG's . I have though in the past played Alice and Beyond Good and Evil, but I am guilty as sin of using some cheats.
Sorry Traveler, haven’t played System Shock. Looking at some video, my impression is that it appears somewhat arcade-like. A bit too old for my expectations I’d venture. I do have Outcast on my “thinking about” list though.

If the original's graphics do not grab you, take a look at System Shock 2, it's a bit newer and has graphics at least on par with Anachronox. Definitely great games and a must play for anyone wanting a more intelligent shooter with great atmosphere and plenty of "scare" moments.
Incidentally, Bioshock is a spiritual successor to the System Shocks (all made by Ken Levine), and is pretty much the same game but in a different setting (even down to similar plot structure). Personally I found it overly simplified, and much preferred System Shock 2.
If you're on the look out for another story-heavy RPG (assuming it's the story you enjoy in Anachronox), I'd recommend Planescape: Torment, though darker in tone, it does have a brilliant story.

Status : Offline | Currently I am playing Wild ARMS 2nd Ignition---again. It's not an adventure game, but I do appreciate that running around in dungeons is actually a fun time: the environments are varied and pretty, and there's some light puzzling involved, too.
I'd played the beginning of the game several times, always eventually losing my saved game (first due to physical memory card failure, later because I couldn't find the right memcard image). The last time I played the game maybe about a year and a half ago I got a little ways into the second disc before I got sick of the bad translation and mind-numbing monotony of combat. I've now resumed from that saved game and am determined to see the ending. I hope it's better (a little more impressive, anyway) than Wild ARMs'.

Using the bow and arrow in this game was truly awesome.

Thanks for that, Ivinia, I bought Call Of Jaurez ages ago, and then never played it due to some bad press. When i have a spare mo, i'm definitely going to give it a go.
In the meantime, my non-AG's are Mass Effect, and The Witcher ch.4, and the first Witcher EE extra adventure - The Price of Neutrality. Also, I'm still busy with Gothic 2 NOTR.

Well, taking into account that you don't mind playing the part of a vampire, of course. (In the story, it's not your fault you became one, of course, and now you must survive as a vampire, in a society where a whole vampire hierarchy exists.) However, you can be a good little vampire, and just take enough blood to satisfy you, without badly harming or killing people, IIRC. (I had just started a game to check it out, not really played it.)

Not only from being a vampire but the settings sound kind of cosmopolitan which is something I love in games. The game is on sale for only 19.99$. I'm going to buy it as soon as possible
Kinda off-topic but have you heard about the MMORPG Secret World by the same author as Dreamfall and Longest Journey? I'm really excited about that... I just wish it was an RPG instead seeing as I don't picture myself getting addicted to a mmorpg as I once was lol... or maybe I do

Ugh, there are just so many good-looking MMORPG's out there these days. I already have the basic Guildwars and the basic WoW pack. Guildwars I have tried out, but have not tried WoW yet. In general, though, the MMORPG scene seems to have exploded in this last year or so!
And that doesn't help the fact that I am so-o-o behind since i only started seriously gaming about 2-3 years ago; and loving multiple genres doesn't help either! [smiley=hair_pull.gif]
Btw, have you checked out that German RPG Drakensang? Apparently the English version is out/almost out. It's had some very good press, so i'd like to try and get hold of a copy!

It looks nice. But how many more medieval-fantasy themed RPGs do we really need? It's not that I dont like them.. most of RPGs I liked most were like that but I'm really expecting new kind of RPGs in the future...

You're probably right, but regardless, I was pretty much looking forward to Dragon Age, until it was pushed back for the console releases; and I also still look forward to Divine Divinity 2 Ego Draconis.
I agree that the usual old elves vs humans vs orcs thing is getting very old; I actually like fantasy, but we need some new ideas.

As many as possible, of course 8-).
Been playing Sudeki for the last week or so. I must admit, I had a lot of fun with it. Reached the final battle last night (early morning :) but I was too beat [smiley=yawn.gif] to see it through. So I guess I'll find out how it ends tonight.
Planning on playing Drakensang next, actually.

Looks interesting Shany, thanks for the heads up. There seems to be a post by Brandon Schmelz in this forum (is it also the game's main page?) that has detailed instructions on what you need to do to convince each recruitable character to join you. I hope you find what you need there.
