Status : Offline | Right now, nothing much besides adventure games, which is fairly unusual for me.
Just last night I was in the mood for a monster bashing click fest, so I loaded up Loki and played around with the Greek girl for a bit. Took me a while to figure out how the God worship and kiosk features work (reading the manual is for noobs ) and made some mistakes in the process, which means that if I do decide to seriously play the game I'll start over with a new character. From what I gather from other forums, you have to finish the game on all three difficulty settings to see the whole story, while some hidden uber ending awaits those that do so with all four characters. So it should keep me busy for a while :.
Also reinstalled Tomb Raider Legend and decided to try to get all the hidden relics and beat all time trials now that TR: Underworld is near release. I was doing pretty well, but I get a constant crash near the end of the England level, even after uninstalling and reinstalling the game  latest patch installed) >. It's obviously a corrupt save and I'll have to start the whole level from the beginning, but I'm pretty mad at the game right now, so it will have to wait.

| Deleted User | I also installed Loki a while ago, and I chose the male Norse warrior . Does this game have online play? Maybe your Greek girl and my Norse warrior could have a get-together... :
Anyway - I didn't get too far in, as I got distracted by all these other hack-and-slashers, and there's only so much hack-and -slashing one can handle at a given time.
I think you've motivated me to continue on my Norse path, and we could maybe compare notes at a stage to see how different the experience turns out to be for the different avatars. As I understood it, they take part in completely different campaigns.
Mine started off in the ice and snow, where I was sent off on a mission to fetch something for my father, and when I came back the village was being sacked, and I had to kill the attackers, and now have to go and kill a bunch of wolves..
(I'm pretty strong with just my bare hands, btw.) : /me 's warrior flexes his muscles to show off to the Greek girl.... 8-)

Status : Offline | I'll check the multiplayer options, Traveler. As you know, I currently have to limit my on-line gaming to the lab, so it's not very convenient, but where there's a will there's a way .
Again I have to rely on second-hand information, but even though all characters start off in their own realm (the Greek warrior in Greece, the Norse warrior in the frozen wastes and so on...) they get to visit all locations during the single player campaign.
My Greek gal (care to guess how I named her, Traveler?) had to kill some impressive looking Centaurs to gain Athena's favor. She clearly felt uncomfortable with close combat, but she's deadly with a bow.
/me 's ranger bats her eyelashes at the Norse warrior and blushes prettily...

Currently playing: Dragon Age Origins, Darkness Within 2, The Witcher, Fallout 3

I'm anxiously awaiting Silent Hill Homecoming for the PC. It's being released via Steam anytime now. Once available, old Geralt will be put on hold while searching out the locals and monsters in Silent Hill. My daughter is also a SH fan and is playing it now on the PS3. All she will tell me is that I'm going to love it. I've got to get my carved skull candelabra out with candles ready for those late nights. Oh well, back to work.

As mentioned in another thread, right now I'm replaying Fallout and Fallout 2 with sessions of BG1 + TOTSC and BG2 (my official copy of TOB does not work with Vista at all and neither does Gothic 2). Am also replaying Arcanum on the side. If I could find a Vista driver that really "likes" KOTOR, I'd be venturing through that gem again too.
On my recent RPG replay list are also Divine Divinty, Vampire: TMR, Anachronox, the Icewind Dale series and of course Planescape: Torment. Have yet to fully test the Morrowind GOTY Edition on this new Vista PC but that's coming soon because I'm getting the itch to traipse across Vvardenfell and Solstheim one more time.
Cheers, Terry

Maum, from what I've seen myself, and heard from other people, I think Divine Divinity is worthwhile, especially for a person who enjoys Planescape, as it has quite similar gameplay controls wise, and is quite story-driven as well (although you do have a lot of leeway - nothing as linear as Jade Empire, or Witcher). You get to choose your own class and gender; -there are only 3 classes though, not quite such a lot as with the D& games.
And btw, the D.Divinity 2 that's coming out next year looks awesome so far!

I really enjoyed Divine Divinty, but it is quite different from Planescape (which I truly loved).
First of all, the game world is MUCH brighter and more open.
Second, it is purely a solo game (no party members at all).
Third, while also story driven, it has a FAR greater emphasis on combat.
In terms of similarities, DD has a streamlined set of character classes, but an even more flexible set of rules for developing a wide array of diverse character types. It also has the same isometric third-person view, similar controls and equally high production standards.
All in all. I strongly recommend the game - but NOT as a classic D&-style title. More like Diablo expanded greatly with a lot more NPCs and optional quests of every kind.
Cheers, Terry

| Deleted User | Thanks, Terry. :-* I didn't mean to imply that DD was like Planescape in all respects, only that I thought that there's a reasonable possibility that a person who loves Planescape might also enjoy DD. True, DD is a lot less story-driven and more open and free, and - well, Terry already listed the differences (and similarities )
Anyway, is there any game quite like Planescape? :
Please don't shoot me if you don't like DD, maum, but it's worth a try. There's never any guarantees though. :-/

No .
I have heard quite a few people compare Neverwinter Nights 2's expansion Mask of the Betrayer overall feeling to Planescape Torment...

Yes. /dodges onslaught of junk
I love Planescape but I *found* a game I can honestly say competes on the level of storytelling, atmosphere and general feel of Planescape- Sanitarium.
It's not an RPG but let's be honest here - Planescape is more of an adventure game anyway given it's simple combat and emphasis on thinking and plot.
I'd also argue Arcanum compares in terms of a unique setting and a very different world compared to most RPGs.

Loved Sanitarium too and it ranks as one of my all-time favorite adventures games. Also agree that Planescape feels more like an adventure than a RPG.

Sanatrium i will try i promise....
Neverwinter II i really really wanted to try but the camera controls got me so mad i cut up the DVD's with scissors and wrote a really blunt post to Biowar, i am sorry cause i reallly wanted to try it, but there was NO way that i could find to do a follow me camera, and i just lost it.
Sigh. I wish there were either more time in a day or more copies of me, but then my clones would probably want equal rights.... sigh
Aquanox I and II (the Archmedian Dynasty is cool but just too old in graphics for me to spend the time on) Sea Dogs I and II (II renamed Pirates of the Carribean aftter Disney bought the almost finished game from Bethesda) these two are little known lovely RPG's of pirate days...lovely ships, dynamic weather and fun questions, like Morrowind in the Caribbean ) Anachronox Omkiron the Nomad Soul Utopia City Gothic II and III Mafia I (and the winter version for comparison) Max Payne I and II Oblivoin (2 yrs plus on this install) Morrowind (3 1/2 yrs plus on this install) Far Cry I (and a ton of community maps) (No Far Cry II Africa as a location was a HUGE HUGE mistake, sorry Crytek, you guys blew it big time. It is HO HUM! Boring!..you should have gone Baltic or northern) Sin Episodes Emergence Tachyon The Fringe Freespace II (the community enhanced version high res) Battlestar Galatica Mod (FSII Mod full version almost done) Deus Ex Invisible War Medal of Honor Allied Assault Call of Duty III\ Battlestations Midway Thunder of Distant Guns Tomb Raider IV Tomb Raider IV Special Times Level Tomb Raider V KOTOR II (but waiting for the Team Grizka completion of the lost and dropped restorations of content) Jedi Knight Outcast and Academy mods (ongoing) X Wing vs Tie Fighter Enhanced (huge community project that created high res ships and locations for the entire game) mmmmm some others.... sigh.

I think part of the reason for my own long list is that some RPG's tend to never really get finished... neither do RTS games. One simply gets tired of them, you never really finish them.
Neverwinter II i really really wanted to try but the camera controls got me so mad i cut up the DVD's with scissors and wrote a really blunt post to Biowar, i am sorry cause i reallly wanted to try it, but there was NO way that i could find to do a follow me camera, and i just lost it.
I hope before you cut it up that you tried all three camera modes. I agree with you that the camera is a bit awkward. I find it especially akward when my party enters a cave or building, no matter which mode I try. (The roof tends to obstruct your view - an engine design flaw IMO)
Is Mafia nice? I might have a copy somewhere but never thought I'd like it. Am looking out for Seadogs at your recommendation.
@Andromus: Hope your'e still enjoying your visit in Morrowind, Andromus. Please don't forget to do the main quest before you get tired of the game. I personally found the backstory very good, as it kept me guessing to the end.

Status : Offline | Sea Dogs II Pirates of the Caribbean Bethesda is really a nice treat, it is between Morrowind and Oblivion and has some really nice characteristics all its own, nice locations, over 30 towns, many ships, you can control up to 4 yourself, action, adventure, quests, side quests that are randomly generated, people talk, you can trade, all sorts of fun, and the controls are interesting, and after you get used to them quite intuitive and good for some complex things like sailing full rigged ships, etc. and the visuals are lovely.

Mafia interested me immediately as one of the few fully realized 3D worlds from a historic period we dont see that often, the 1930's in urban America, and quite well done...not super super detailed like most modern games, but with a style of its own, and quite suited for the subject. And they did an interesting thing, they released a Christmas edition identical to 1.0 but it has snow and is in winter everywhere. A unique offering as far as i know, in Gamedome There are two sequels, i havent checked them out yet, but i believe they advance in time, generationally, so the 50's and then the 60's i believe with also detailed 3D worlds.
