The JA Forum has now been updated. Although all seems to be ok, there may be minor glitches hiding here and there. Please post here if you discover anything that has to do with:
- Images not loading properly
- Text/menus misplaced or garbled*
- Anything that isn't working as it should
- Anything that you can't do that you could before**

A couple of changes to look out for:
- The way PMs are sent and how your whole profile works is now slightly different. There is a known slight text misplacement at the top of that menu (*) so do not report that if you notice it. Also, when writing a PM, it seems that the extra smilies do not show in the "More Smilies" box when selected. They do work fine though, and show properly when making forum posts.
- There's been a change in the spoiler tag system. The regular spoiler tag has changed and makes things easier while reading. The mid-sentence spoiler tag is not used anymore (**). Old posts using the mid-sentence spoiler tag will now have the text revealed - if you have such posts, it would be nice to change them to proper spoler tags.
- There is a new anti-spam system. I am still testing it, so if you find yourself banned at some point it's (probably!) accidental and temporary. If you do see that you're banned, please mention it here later including what you were doing when you got banned.
- Users can now post urls only after having made at least 5 posts. If you are a new user trying to post a url and can't, it's probably cause you haven't reached this limit yet.
- Other changes are up to you to discover. You are adventurers after all, right?!

Will the stylesheet stay as it is?  I'm finding the lower contrast difficult on my eyes.

I was actually wondering if it does look brighter now! I think the old stylesheet is gone, or misplaced. I will look into it soon.

Just noticed it was missing! It shouldn't be missing I don't think. I'll look into it.

Aya, nice job!  I know from first hand experience that updating these can be a MAJOR job despite supposedly being seamless.
It is pretty darned bright isn't it?

Aya, I noticed the button "all" to view all posts of a thread in just one page is missing. Also noticed errors while loading the forum icons (a folder appears instead of the "no new/new" icon).

Hi..
view all has become a selectable setting for forum admin.. as it creates server load some forum owners would rather not have..it can be enabled by the administrator if in admin center.
the no new/new icons are the check images as they (im guessing)always have been on 2.1 template. the folder icons you see is default board icon..wich can be replaced with another image by admins
hope that helps

Also for admin..The extra smilie issue seems to be a bug. that has been fixed for next version....

Like LWS said, the "all" button is now an option, which I left off. I didn't think anybody used it! I could turn it on if several ppl want it though. As for the icons, are you talking about the front page, or the different sub-forums? In each sub-forum there's the "new" icon for all new posts. On the front page, there's the checkmark icon, yellow for new posts, blue for no new posts.

So, according to LWS (who, if you haven't figured it out yet, is from the YaBB support team), the problem with the extra smilies not working properly in PMs is a bug, but they can still be used from their "View All Smilies" pop-up window - that is, if anyone uses those smilies in PMs.

@Ivinia: Updating YaBB would have been a very easy and straightforward job normally, but I wanted to keep several things as they were, so I had to do selective uploads. It turned out that the majority of the probs lied in one particular template, so the solution was to use the new one and copy/paste certain parts of code that i wanted to keep from the old one.

That's what makes it such a big job. I had changed lots of code by adding custom scripts to add things such as user flags and such which were not part of the standard package. In doing so, things get seriously hosed if you try to do an update with a new forum version.  [smiley=hair_pull.gif]

And just when you thought you won't have properly working extra smilies for your PMs, you do! All thanx to the great work of LWS@YaBB! [smiley=beer_buds.gif] Now you can go wild PMing each other zombie smilies with no hassle whatsoever! [smiley=zombie.gif]

So, at the moment it seems all probs have been resolved. Hopefully nothing new will be discovered, but if you do stumble upon smth, post about it in this thread.

The member list seems a bit off.  Some members have no number next to their posts and no start date. If I recall though that was an old problem from way back with certain members whose name started with "M". Go to the members list and sort by name M and you'll see a bunch.

Oh yes, and thank you LWS!  It's people like you who make the help forums so darned valuable ...and... helpful.

Some times, that button is useful, for example I can view all posts of a discussion in one page without having to change at every moment. In the case of adventure game trivia forum, that button is useless fot the "guess the screenshot trivia", as it loads ALL images. More useful should be a button like "load the last three pages", not just for that thread but for all threads, I think, as when I am looking threads I just look at just at the latest three pages, at maximum.

There is no option like that. But I brought back the "all" button.

@Ivinia: Yes, those members are the ones whose accounts got corrupted back during server migration. I did delete quite a few during the cleanup but I'm sure more are left.

Oh, what a pity it doesn't exist, it should have been useful. Well thanks for the "all" AYA!

Well, what I mean is, they don't seem to become enabled when you post them using the necessary HTML protocol.

Nothing has changed when it comes to links. They work just like before. Example: www.justadventure.com
