I am unable to pick up the letter N in the graveyard because part of the screen is a mirror image of the rest. Have downloaded and installed the 1.1 patch but it does not remedy the problem.  :-/

This sounds like a graphics driver problem. If you haven't got the latest driver for your graphics card, download and install. If you have the latest driver, download and install an earlier one.

I've had nothing but issues with the latest nVidia drivers on cards older than the GF 8 series. Try running the driver below (which supports your card) it's the same version I use on my 7600GT.

I know it sounds odd - but newer isn't always better.

ForceWare Release 90 - 94.24 XP

Edit -

On the outside chance you've never updated or rolled back your video drivers - here's the how-to from nVidia:

Windows XP Forceware Display Driver Manual Installation

Sounds like a game glitch then - maybe someone else has a better idea.

If someone could send me a save game just after this where they have picked up all the letters then that would be great. I could carry on.

Hints and Tips would be the best place to ask that one - if you don't receive any responses, post the same question at GameBoomers.

if you're playing the usa version of the game, have you tried the 1.1 update patch? it is supposed to fix some graphic glitches... check it out here, bottom of the page: http://www.thelostcrown.co.uk/

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

i just noticed the image you posted... that's exactly how that screen is supposed to look like! unless i got the same prob as you do... regardless, there's a letter on the tombstone with the cross in the middle of the screen... don't remember if it's 'n', but if you didn't get any letters on this screen then that's probably it

You are right!   :-[

But before I berate myself too much, I have to say that this is one of the very annoying problems with this adventure, which is, that it goes from being very precise with it's point and click at times to being incredibly imprecise where you can click up to 5cms (2 inches) away from something and it still comes up. That means when you click on something and it says some text or shows a picture and then there is object 3 cms away and when you click on that it says or shows the very same thing! then after a while you stop clicking on things near to other things because you always get the same piece of dialogue or picture. Then you get something like this where it had to be precise. :
Also there are over a dozen grave stones and everytime you click on all of  the others you get the same text about the church being very well kept. After a few times you stop clicking on them because there are so many and you get fed up with hearing the same bloody thing all the time!

Anyway thanks for that. As for the image, it must be a universal fault because there is no way that that image is meant to be like that.

The white jagged line in the image is meant to be. There are several other examples in the game. The most noticable one is outside the harbour cottage when about to talk to Lucy when a brown stain also appears on the image. This is one of the unexplained phenomena in the game.

that's what i figured... but at the cemetery, the image is mirrored, so one could see it as a glitch

@xenophon: i hear you about getting fed up hearing the same thing over and over again... that was the biggest mistake of the developer - not allowing the player to skip dialog (but the game was so rewarding it was forgiven!)

Crikey! What and the mirror image in the corner. Certainly looked like a  graphical fault, I've seen that type of thing before. Oh well - only wasted my time. Sorry if I wasted the time others but thanks for your help nonetheless.

Question...I saw Lucy at the Martello tower. Walked back to town. Met Nanny Noah. Talked with her. She gave me the first hint for the hunt. After that I can't do anything. Nigel can't even walk anymore. Showed everything I have to Nanny. Picked up the clue she gave me. Nothing at all. Got stuck there. Even can't close the game properly. Help, help, help

Those aren't graphical glitches. Those are all intentional - even the mirror image. Spoiler AlertWhich leads me to believe that Hadden has the technology to build a virtual world based on old photographs. As everyone seems to be from different time periods in the game, they may actually be linked to the dates the photographs were taken...[smiley=whistle.gif]
