If you didn't like those, I doubt there are any you'll like.

Outcast! I had to use a cheat for the action part, but the story & character interaction were awesome.

I also enjoyed Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude.

I'm sorry for messing it up. I thought a poll is better to really evaluate what people thinks of hybrid adventures and maybe developers can understand better what buyers expect from a game.
Anyway, if you had to resort to a cheat you probably didn't enjoy Outcast playability

So all the people who are using walkthroughs don't really enjoy adventure games? Hey, I've been saying that for years!

Seriously, I enjoyed shooting opponents but I didn't like waiting forever to get my hands on the good weapons.

Outcast is much more fun in god mode.
When the dinosaur eats you, you can control the dinosaur.

If I must look at the walkthrough a dozen times as I did for Conspiracies, no, I'm not enjoying its playability >
. That game gave a new meaning to pixel hunting, in 3d! I sure hope they will implement a smart cursor and a key to highlight hotspots (like in Tunguska and Dracula Origin) in the next Conspiracies.
Anyway it's an interesting question, if I enjoy a lot an adventure I avoid using a walkthrough, I don't want to spoil the fun.

Does this sentence mean that when the dinosaur eats you, you become the dinosaur?  Or does this mean you can give the dinosaur belly-ache?

I don't know for sure if the dinosaur had a belly ache or not.
But he certainly didn't show any symptoms of a belly ache.
After his meal, his mood was much improved and he seemed quite docile.

god i couldnt STAND Outcast. you must visit alghtuui and speak to ffftrre to get the syywioe which will open the gooooleww located in ghgte. etc etc..worst dialogue ever. graphics were amazing though, i would of enjoyed it if the language wasnt so dull/boring/retarded/headache inducing. shame there was a 'game over' screen when u put a bullet in their heads as soon as someone opened their mouths..

now i think about it, im sure there was supposed to be a sequel on the ps2 or maybe ps3. there were screens of it and it looked great but it might have got canned.

 I thought Outcast was awwwwwesome!

Outcast 2: The Lost Paradise was in development and a great Outcast website exists to this day; http://www.outcast-thegame.com/

Also, an excellent website, with cracking screenshots for the game that never came to be, is here; http://www.planet-adelpha.net/TLP/screenshots.html

Here's a fansite where a fan-made sequel to Outcast (OpenOutcast: The Hidden Gate), is on the cards, and has been for some time; http://openoutcast.org/ Check out the forum for news too.

 This site's good too; http://outcastii.free.fr/

If you don't like Outcast, I apologise for my enthusiasm.

Hi Gelert -

I loved Outcast too and even bought a new DVD-case replacement copy a couple of years ago from GoGamer.com to play with Windows XP.

It was a shame that the sequel got canceled so far into development but the fan project has kept hopes alive and I'm still looking forward to it as well.

Quantic Dream was developing a sequel to Omikron: The Nomad Soul (tentatively called Omikron 2: Exodus) around the same time that Outcast 2 was being made. It too got cancelled, which is a real shame because they were going 100% third-person (sans the clunky FPS sequences) with an expanded, even more detailed game world and lots of other nice improvements including even cooler musical elements.

Simultaneously, they were creating another new 3D action-adventure hybrid called Quark that had a very cool, alternate-reality game-world fantasy theme. I never did find out what happened to it. So there were actually three potentially great titles that all suffered the same fate around the same time.

Cheers, Terry

I'm not actually sure it is a new version Helen.

My Outcast CD came in a typical plastic DVD case that only says "For Windows 98 and above. I know it was purchased online at GoGamer.com after I bought a new WinXP system plus the game did install and play fine. But the the program loads in a window (not quite full screen) and it came with zero printed documentation.

Cheers, Terry
