SirDave, my grading is exclusively difficulty. The Dark Eye (certainly a terrific piece of software) isn't difficult at all. Actually, you can just "click your way" through the story in this game because there aren't puzzles in the straight sense of the word.

Totally agree about the first part, it is a masterpiece, IMO... :

However, I experienced some difficulties when I played the game, eventhough I believe they were due to "technical problems" (you know Rael, troubles with a few hotspots, or handspot, or hothand  ???)
In a couple of places, the hand cursor seemed to be on a hotspot, but no action was triggered (no action at all!)...This, of course, created some inconvenients with my gameplay
.  Hey, Rael, maybe you could find out the reason...So far, I couldn't.  And that's why I gave it a 5.5...Besides this technical aspects (or at least, I think they were technical) wich increased -a lot!- game's difficulty, The Dark Eye wasn't difficult.  But definitely, a wonderful game.

Keep it up everyone. We need as many different views as possible so that the final averages carry some weight.

There's still a number of games that still haven't been rated- Traitor's Gate, REAH, Liath, Secrets of the Luxor, Pilgrim, Gordak, Labryinth of Time, Ark of Time, etc.

Oh yeah, one I'm particularly wondering about is Riddle of the Sphinx. I have it started, but that's all. I've heard it's one of the hardest. Is it a 10?

The future ain't what it used to be!

So what is it about the "6" and "7" keys that make them so gosh darn fun to press?

Conversely, it seems like Jenny has a point - a lot of people here seem to have a fear of the number one or something. Same goes for the number 10.

Anyways, here goes nothing.

I CAN say only this....

Syberia 1
Gabriel knight 3 10 (as i have once said, because of the awful gameplay)
Resistance is not futile, we're gonna win this thing, humankind is too good, we're not a bunch of under-achievers! We're gonna stand up, and we're gonna be human beings. We're going to get fired up about the real things, the things that matter! Creativity, and the dynamic human spirit that refuses to submit.

It's hard but it's mostly fair about it. The items and clues needed to solve a puzzle are largely self-explanatory -- once you have them. They can be hidden almost anywhere, and that's where much of the difficulty comes in. Aren't non-linear games great?

I'd give it a 7 or 8 in difficulty, but with all items and clues in inventory that goes down to 5 or 6.

Yes, a 1 and no, no walkthrough.

I remember whipping right through that game. The only time I got stuck was the time pebble pixel hunt on the second chapter.

We've got some good results, but I hope everyone will continue to add for awhile longer. I'm going to start collating the results over the next few days. The plan is to put out an alphabetical list with the average score beside. I think it's going to be a good source of information for those wanting to playing an easier game or a harder game, but don't know which is which. Sometimes I just want to have a pleasant game experience w/o racking my brain. Other times I want a real test, like Riven or Schizm (have only just started it).

If it's comprehensive enough, maybe Randy could find a more permanent place for it on the website. But we'll see how it turns out before 'going there'.

The future ain't what it used to be!
