A lot of adventure games rely on series of 2D pictures (as in Riven) instead of 360-degree panoramas (as in Myst Exile) or full 3D scenes.

I stumbled across http://openphotovr.org , a website which publishes "photo albums with 3D transitions". In an adventure game, such system could really help the player in navigation. I'm curious to know whether this or a similar system has been used in adventure games. Any examples?
