Status : Online | Some of my favorites, in no particular order:
- Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker, Weeds): My favorite TV mom. No-nonsense, funny, and daring. What other mother whom you know would resort to selling pot to help her family?
- Alan Shore (James Spader, Boston Legal): The best TV lawyer I can think of (sure beats Matlock). He's arrogant yet extremely likeable, a character with noticeable flaws who still comes out on top every time and never misses an opportunity to push the envelope.
- Perry Mason (Raymond Burr, Perry Mason): OK, he might be tied with Shore for best TV lawyer. He certainly set the standard as the greatest criminal lawyer of all of time. The courtroom scenes where he finally identifies the real killer are golden.
- Lt. Columbo (Peter Falk, Columbo): It's so much fun to watch him bumbling around, irritating every killer he encounters. Those moments when he figures the mystery out and pisses off the guilty party are just great.
- Jessica Fletcher (Angela Lansbury, Murder, She Wrote): One of the most endearing characters, albeit a far-fetched one. She probably committed all those murders herself, but she did a pretty good job of blaming it someone else every time ...
- Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub, Monk): He's the detective you root for every time. It's the best mix of drama and comedy, and the series endures because of Monk's development (or lack thereof) with his OCD and his wife's death.
- Larry David (Larry David, Curb Your Enthusiasm): You can't help but feel sorry for him, even while you're laughing at his ridiculous plights. He faces a lot of issues, though, that you can identify with. Especially the situations in which his attempts to be helpful land him in a lot of trouble.

I'm sure René's hair has grown a bit more silvery today as well, so I'm guessing the likeness is still there. They've only released the first four seasons of the series over here. I'm desperately waiting for the rest! It's comedy that simply doesn't age, I love it!

First, I like my detectives to have a low key approach. Like Goldblume of Hill Street Blues:

Next, I think a lawyer should be old and wise, like Leland of LA Law:

Next, we need a little nasty. Louie DePalma of Taxi was a riot:

Then, I like a down to earth guy, like Oscar from the Odd Couple:

Finally, I like a little crazy. There's no one better in that department than Paulie from the Sopranos:

Status : Offline | i've been going thru a frasier kick the past couple of months... it's the first time i really watch this show (had only seen a few episodes in the past without paying much attention) and i got to say there's one character in there that not only stands out and is hands down the best character of the show for me, but could also be placed in the top 10 (don't know which place yet though)
Dr Niles Crane (Frasier)
(David Hyde Pierce)
niles is simply hilarious... it is not just the amazingly funny lines he speaks, but also the way he delivers them and his maneurisms, that make david hyde pierce so perfect for this role... there have been quite a few episodes i watched that were "niles and some other ppl who don't matter"!
You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

Scully (Gillian Anderson, X-Files) Mulder (David Duchovny, X-Files) Gregory House (Hugh Laurie, House) Jack O'Neil (Richard Dean Anderson, Stargate SG1) Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland, 24) Michelle (Reiko Aylesworth, 24) Alan Shore (James Spader, Boston Legal) Denny Crane (William Shatner, Boston Legal) John Chrichton (Ben Browder, Farscape) The Island (Craphole, Lost)
Honorary Mentions: Hiro Nakamura (Heroes) Dean Winchester (Supernatural)
Sorry, no ranking, no pics, perhaps later.
The Island may or may not be cheating...however diverse the characters on Lost, I don't "love" any of them, I like most of them a lot. But I like The Island more... If I had to pick an actual character, I would probably end up with Ben, because he walks a tightrope between being crazy, ingeniously scheming and pathetic.
Michelle is the most non-descript of those picks, I just got a crush on Reiko Aylesworth I guess...
And John Chrichton is one of the most interesting characters in one of the most interesting shows ever which got cancelled way ahead of its time. :-/
I read your picks...
Ah, damn, there are so many, this is harder than compiling a list of adventure games or even songs (not really)!
ALKIS! WOW! You just told me what I had been looking for for YEARS! Voyagers...I watched that show as a kid and I couldn't find out its name. I think I once asked on IMDb and only forgot again, but thanks! I remember it had a kickass theme, but then again I was like 8 years old, don't take my word for this...
Recently, I enjoy Jack Carter in Eureka a lot. In BSG I think Baltar is the best character, but I used to love Starbuck...
But I guess off the top of my head is closest to the truth.
Best-written, I'd have to say, House.
And Aya is right, Scully is not cute. She's 100% hot. (And I know he didn't mean it that way.)
playing: Destination Treasure Island (done in two sittings, but it's nice), Syberia (ho-hum), Dracula: Last Sanctuary (on hold)&&reading: even more study papers&&listening to: this and that, plus Musicovery&&TV favorites: (currently) Pushing Daisies, Chuck, Journeyman (cancelled! grrr...), Heroes&& all-time) 24, Stargate SG1, X-Files, Lost, House
