There are also several books based on Infocom's text adventures: http://www.amazon.com/Infocom-books/lm/1MDGD80MCXM5L

The Floating Castle Kingdom of Sorrow See No Weevil
I think there's also a book based on Mission Critical, thought I'm not sure.
About The Blackstone Chronicles, I believe the game is actually based on the novels and not the novels on the game. Kind of like Ringworld and Neuromancer.
EDIT: Just read that bit under your compiled list. :
So, I suppose you could add Ringworld and Neuromancer to the list then. Also When Gravity Fails (Circuit's Edge was based on it).

I don't know of any books based on games, but lots and lots of adventures are based on, or inspired by, books... let's see.
Many games made by Legend were based on books, like the one you already mentioned: Blackstone Chronicles. And Death Gate, Shannara, the Gateway games, Callahan's Crosstime Saloon.
The Agatha Christie mysteries. So far are three but I bet there's a new one in the pipeline THe three Discworld games. All the Nancy Drew adventures.
Inspired by Jules Verne: Voyage, Return to Mysterious Island, Sercret of the Nautilus The Dark Eye (Poe) Kama Sutra Robot City (Asimov) Dinotopia Hamlet: A Murder Mystery I have no mouth but I must scream The little prince Sophie's World Philip Marlowe: Private Eye
I'm sure there are many more. 8-)

I´ve read half the GK1 novel, its not bad, but imho its a carbon copy of the game (which can be good or not depending on your tastes.)
Regarding games based on books:
Companions of Xanth (based on the Xanth saga)
and there are several which were influenced by Lovecraft such as AITD1 (loosely) Prisoner of Ice Shadow of the Comet

Well, now posts like these are what makes you a valuable member, Laurie! Thanks for coming back to JA to grace the forum with posts like these!
Anyway; my additions: Loosely based on several of HP Lovecraft's fictions: Call of Chtulu: Dark Corners of the Earth The Darkness Within; In Pursuit of Loath Nolder Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened ; deals with Lovecraft's Cthulu mythos
You guys forgot about the numerous Sherlock Holmes games, based on the fiction of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
SH: Nemesis aka SH vs Arsene Lupin, features the character of Arsene Lupin, a fictional gentleman thief who appears in a book series of detective fiction / crime fiction novels written by French writer Maurice Leblanc
The many "racula" games, based on the classic novel: "racula" by Bram Stoker
American Mc Gee's Alice, based on the novel by Lewis Carrol
Clice Barker's Undying, and Jericho, are based on works by the Horror fiction writer Clive Barker
Some might include the "Splinter Cell" series as action adventures, inspired by author Tom Clancy
Oh, I might have missed it, but I didn't see mention above of the Zork books? The Zork books were a series of four books, written by S. Eric Meretzky, and based on Infocom's Zork text adventure games . The first 4 books were: 1. The Forces of Krill, 2. The Malifestro Quest 3. The Cavern of Doom 4. Conquest at Quendor. I think there were more Zork books as well ?
I know the D & D RPG's aren't really adventure games, so please excuse their inclusion, but: The Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale series and the more action-oriented Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone, was based on the fantasy novels of R. A. Salvatore, including The Icewind Dale Trilogy, The Dark Elf Trilogy, the Legacy of the Drow series, the Paths of Darkness series, The Hunter's Blades Trilogy, and the short stories "The Dowry" and "ark Mirror."
Then, seeing that we're already talking forbidden RPG fruits in the adventure forum, may I also make a quick mention of the RPG 'The Witcher' which is based on the works of Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski.

Actually, SuperEdy, I think you have! Sadly.
The whole fun was in members trying to remember the books they know of.
Oh, well, on the upside, we now know of really a lot of Adv. game books!

For all the years that I have used Moby games as my #1 games research site I never knew they had this list. Thanks Super Eddy.
I have procured myself copies of Mission Critical (thanks Gonchi) and 7th Guest (thanks Super Eddy) to add to my pile to be read on the deck this summer. Just finishing up Rama II now.

Not necessarily. Although MB is a very good tool to search for games, there are many rare games that aren´t there.
You didn´t spoil the thread, you just made it more challenging.

Look on the bright side, Traveller. We now know that there are 497 female protagonists in games. 8-) And the number of movie-inspired games is even more staggering than the literary ones: 620.

Great resource, thanks for the info. But does it include my "The Little Prince"? No, it does not.

I really liked Aaron Conner´s Tex Murphy novels though, especially Under A Killing Moon is really cool, since there are a lot of things in that book, that completely differ from the game. But both Tex-books are a lot of fun to read, you can easily tell that they were written by someone who is not trying to be a book author, but who really knows what he is doing.
