I stole this idea from the foreign adventure sites thread.

Anyone else wanna play? I know Godfather does!

Perhaps we should have some rules this time, RPG isn't just about killing eachothers (even if it's fun
).

Suggestions?

Yes, would like to try.  Since I have no idea how it is done, need that explained.  I take it we start an a opening dialogue such as long ago in the deep caverns of somewhere, a war between the gods was............and then have the story start and we all chip in with movement etc. or are each of us permanent characters.

I guess it wouldn't have to be way back when, it could be outer space based too.

Am I too far off on how this is done?

Resistance is not futile, we're gonna win this thing, humankind is too good, we're not a bunch of under-achievers! We're gonna stand up, and we're gonna be human beings. We're going to get fired up about the real things, the things that matter! Creativity, and the dynamic human spirit that refuses to submit.

Not at all, you're very right.

I just don't know how to replace the dice, can't have ppl deciding their own fate, then they'll all turn out like GodFather
.

Just gonna let you know: I've never played Non-PC RPG's so I might not be a good game leader.

Have to think about it, this might take some time.

If I'll begin I need some time to prepare, (it depends on how serious this is)

You know, real RPG's needs to be complex.

What about the following?

Characters
Actionpoinst
Heathpoints
Dice

we need to set up some rules.

Dice are little objects made out of plastic, wood or other sturdy materials, used to make random selections in various games. They have a number of equal-area sides on them, each one marked in a different way, usually by numbers. A classical dice design is to put different number of neatly positioned dots on each side.

The proper use of dice are to put one or more of them in your hand and drop them onto a flat, hard surface, like a table or a floor, preferably from a height that doesn't make them bounce off too far from the point where they first landed. Various laws of physics and probability cause the dice to land on one of its sides in a seemingly random fashion with and equal probability of any side. The markings of the side opposite to the one the dice landed on (the one facing directly upwards if your surface is horizontal) is then used to determine some property of the game you are currently playing.

The classical dice has the shape of a tetrahedron, with six square sides marked with the numbers one to six. In RPG and various other advanced games, dice with more sides are sometimes used. There are 8-sided, 16-sided and even 24-sided dice. In fact, I've even seen a 1-sided dice, having the form of a sphere.

Since their introduction several hundred years ago, dice have been incredibly successful in the world of games and gambling, reaching popularity levels rivalled only by the deck of cards, another popular gaming utility. They are key items used in popular tabletop games like Yatzy, Risk, Trivial Pursuit, Clue and Monopoly. You can even find dice in exclusive environments such as fancy Las Vegas casinos, where they are used for gambling purposes.

Only in recent times, through computer technology and its random number generators, have the dice met any serious competition. Before computers, dice were one of the most useful tools for random-number generation, even outside of the gaming world. However, it is believed that the dice will still be around for a long time, because of their cheap prize, mobility and practical size.

Umm... Sorry Godfather, I wasn't trying to make you look stupid or anything. I'm sure this was just a language thing, and I was just goofing around when I should have better things to do, like cleaning my room, which is a mess... :
Sorry about that!

We also need a reason(s).  If we are doing just one main quest then a reason for the quest or are we going to get complicated and do more than one quest (minor ones).

Also, weapons and potions?

You guys know more about what you can do with a computer than I do, that is for sure.  So put your collective heads together (not too close, word gets around) and figure the dice thing.

Let me know if I can help or suggest as you get started and if not needed then holler when you are explaining the rules.

GALANDOR'S AWAKENING

The year is 9999 after the fall of Galandor, the most fearsome dragon the land of Agalmatea has ever seen. Under the high mountains of Bezuvium, a land in the northern region of Agalmatea, there is a big town called Mycenea. A cleric is arriving in the local hero's guild during a cold winter night, 7 days before the turn of the year.

As he enters the room everybody is looking at him suspiciously. The room is filled with warriors, barbarians, mages, paladins, thiefs and other heroes who have wrote their name in the history of Mycenea.

He approaches the fireplace slowly where he stands still. Everybody look at him questioning his reasons to be there at that time. He holds his staff on the air and starts speaking words that were passed on his family for many generations back.

"3 days before 10,000 has passed since the fall of Galandor, Galandor will awake for the second time. Galandor will need 90 hours (1 day in our world = 30 hours) to regain all his strengths and get out of the cave he was kept for the past 9,999 years in the mountains of Bezuvium. If he is not stopped during these 7 days every living creature upon Agalmatea will cease to exist in a matter of days...

9 heroes have to travel to Galandor's cave and kill the beast before it is too late. 8 of them are right now in this guild...the 9th hero will join them during their journey to the mountains of Bezuvium. Girion has spoken...'

After that a bright white light started eminating from his staff and for a couple of seconds nobody could see anything. After that the cleric had disappeared.

The heroes looked buffled each other. The only way to reach the mountains of Bezuvium in less than 7 days would be to pass inside the forest of the amazons, the skeleton dungeon and the path of illusions...

Laertius, the warrior who was born in the south region of Agalmatea, but raised in the cold and unfriendly streets of Mycenea was the first to volunteer. He raised his double-handed feroscious sword in the air and he proclaimed...

'I SHALL BE THE FIRST HERO TO TRAVEL TO THE MOUNTAINS OF BEZUVIUM AND BRING AN END TO THE EVIL THAT BEARS THE NAME GALANDOR'

The second who dared to volunteer was Rehtafdog! He raised his two handed axe and said in deep voice "I will be the second one to join this quest for evil must stop once and for ever!!!" then he struck the table in front of him with his axe and said "any one who dares to join this quest and come with me must do so now!!"

Rehtafdog was a very strong and fair (for his kind) dwarve. He was always yielding his trustworthy axe and he used to have sapmel in his pocket when going to long journeys for it was bread which could sustain an adult man for a day of hard work.

Two hours had passed when something completely unexpected happened. . .

From the back of the kitchen area, a young boy who helped keep the guild clean ventured forth.  He was an orphan, who for many years, had recurring dreams of an ancient object, a temple surrounded by clouds.  He also seemed to have the uncanny ability to sense the presence of danger and even though young, a natural ability for fighting and archery.

I, GREGORY THE UNKNOWN, WISH TO JOIN ON THIS QUEST TO DESTROY THE EVIL.  I HAVE SEEN THE TEMPLE IN MY DREAMS AND SUCH EVIL HAS NOT BEEN KNOWN TO MANKIND!!!!

But, you are too young a few cried out, you will be surely killed early on your journey.  A voice in the shadows spoke supporting the boy and his voice was so soft and beckoning that all there were entranced with his words.  The shadow said...............................

......."LET HIM JOIN YOU ON YOUR QUEST!.. HE WILL BE THE LAST ONE OF YOU THAT LIVES".

A scruples mercenary spoke:
"WHO ARE YOU TO CRITISISE OUR OPINIONS".

"I KNOW WHAT THE BOY SAY IS TRUE, BECAUSE IT IS NOT NEW TO ME, I HAVE ALWAYS KNOWN".

"STEP OUT OF THE SHADOWS" the somewhat drunk mercenary named Xhertious said "LIKE A MAN".

There were clear sounds of a steps but no man was to see.

"I AM NOT A MAN" the voice spoke.
The hero and his friends started to laugh. "What are you then"? the mercenary asked.

The owner of the voice showed himself as a big fearsome face to everyone that were in the guild.
"I AM A DEAMON. KNOWN AS VRAHD. I WANT TO HELP YOU ON YOUR QUEST. I TOO WILL DIE IF GALANDOR AWAKES.
"I CAN NOT BE WITH YOU ON YOUR QUEST. I AM BOUND BY A SPELL TO STAY IN MYCENEA. BUT I WILL HELP YOU FROM HERE"

At that moment Xhertious, about to steal a warriors moneybag was caught. The warrior was about to take out his deadly revenge when he was stopped by the deamon.
"YOU OWE ME THY LIFE" the deamon spoke to Xhertious,
"NOW USE IT WELL. TAKE PART IN THE QUEST"
Xhertious had no choice but to participate. He was a great warrior but not trustable.

"NOW WHO ELSE WANTS TO PART?" the deamon asked out to the Guild.

"SIT DOWN VRAHD!" a voice boomed from the rafters.

"You shall not be freed from your debt so easily."

To everyone's surprise, and Vrahd's most of all, a slender woman stepped through the door of the Guild, lowering the hood of her cloak to reveal her jet black hair, and piercing blue eyes that emanated with power.  Her dark pallor and pointed ears revealed to all that a Drow was in their midst.

"I am Kessa Rand", spoke the woman in a soft but commanding tone, "master of the Demon Vrahd and First Sorceress to King Darnen.
o not trust this one, as he is bound to this place by my hand, and I shall not release him just yet."

With that the mighty demon Vrahd charged towards the Sorceress, murder in his eyes.  With a simple wave of her hand and a flash of blue light, the Sorceress swatted Vrahd away like a child, sending him flying across the room where he landed with a crash on a table across the Guild.

"You forget your place Vrahd.  It was I who summoned you and it is I you serve.  You shall serve me in this quest Vrahd.  Me and no other."

Turning to the astonished heroes in the Guild, Kessa said,

"I shall accompany you to Galador's cave where we will confront the beast, but know this, the beast cannot be destroyed.   There is but one way to defeat Galador........"
