Look at the Limbo trailer here at around 2:36 http://www.gametrailers.com/player/34863.html
and look at the Painkiller level here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJniAgD5wT0
EDIT:
There are now even more claims that assets have been ripped from Thief: Deadly Shadows and a shield "exactly the same as the "Wall of the Eyeless" shield in Diablo 2"
Looks like this entire game's locations and some other graphical assets have been ripped straight from other games.

All of the chapters though feel as though they have been created by different people. It looks like they were.

It's all turned into a game in itself as people are identifying parts of the game from MANY different sources - mostly other games. The big game now is finding out where the main character came from or if they created him themselves.
I really can't image adults trying to pull something like this. Right now I have a mental picture in my head of a bunch of kids sitting around saying, "Hey, let's make a game." There's tons of stuff out there we can rip. No one will notice. Tri-Synergy and G2 has to have a lot of egg on their faces for actually signing these guys up. I wonder if they paid them advanced royalties? According to GameSpot the publisher has not been able to contact them as they are supposedly on vacation.... I bet they are!
EDIT: Just did some searching on my own and found that the dialog on this trailer with the demon speaking: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/34863.html
Is from the video game RUNE: "The dead do not welcome the presence of the living, warrior. You remind them of all they have lost." http://www.inkslinger.org/writing/samples/writing/writingsamplerunescript.html

In case you don't remember, it involved some strange working of the Limbo of the Lost developers sending out mixed signals and appearing fishy. Well, looks like they were indeed fishy:

They likely were not concerned. By the time the rip off was discovered they got their money from G2 and TriSynergy and are long gone. Very likely set up shop elsewhere under a new name and are busily working on a sequel of a different name.

This is just crazy. Yea, it really does sound like something kids would do or someone learning how to make a game.
Here are some more screenshots:
Thief 3: http://www.ag.ru/screenshots/thief_deadly_shadows/92784 Diablo II (Wall of the Eyeless) http://battle.net/diablo2exp/items/normal/ushields.shtml Limbo of the Lost: http://www.ag.ru/screenshots/limbo_of_the_lost/231765
Thanks to a poster on BluesNews for the previous links.
Someone also mentioned that maybe they could've used something like this: http://www.deep-shadows.com/hax/3DRipperDX.htm
I think this is just crazy. So what was the deal with Fable and Inferno?

Unless this is some major PR stunt, I don't see how the heck they can get out of this. The only thing I can possibly think of is that maybe they had someone else supply those screens and the vocals, and the special effects in the trailers, and the...well, you get the idea. At this point it is a long shot, but you never know. They are quoted all over the place saying they did it all themselves. I can't see how they could possibly talk their way out of this one. Can it get any more bizarre?

Status : Online | Interviews with Steve Bovis JustAdventure Quandaryland
Following quote from JA interview:
Tim Croucher  UK) - Researcher and assistant vocalist, game designer/playtester.
I met Tim right at the beginning of the project, we were both adventure game fans and decided to make an adventure game of our own – Limbo of the Lost was born.
Laurence Francis (UK) – Puzzles, Lead vocalist and assistant game designer/Musician.
Laurence joined the team when we were starting the Amiga version and has been a strong member ever since. Laurence is the voice of the main character – Benjamin Spooner Briggs as well as other characters in LIMBO.
Marko "Gravehill" Hautamäki (Germany) – Level-Atmosphere Musician.
I got to know Marko from a forum I was on and he was looking to work on a game project. I heard some of his work and was suitably impressed. To date he has done more than 13 musical pieces for the game. Marko is the newest team member.
Lisa Highsted (UK) – Contracts and Support
Lisa sorts out contract negotiations / publishers, she joined the team on the PC version of the game. She also play-tests and reviews content on a regular basis.
Heather Banks (UK) – Playtester & Support
Heather helps out on playtesting the game, general development feedback and development support. She too joined the team on the PC version
Myself - Steve Bovis  UK) - Creative/Project Director
That then leaves me, my job is to put the game together and create all the visuals, coding, sounds, models, marketing and basically make the game flow and work. As well as manage and try to motivate the team. A job that is hard enough at the best of times!

Status : Online | I all for making something for fun...just for the passion. That's what learning is all about. But to try to sell the game for 30 buckazoids when a portion of it is not your creation, is not right. Just because you want to be a millionaire doesn't imply that you deserve to be regardless of how hard you've worked.
Heck, many people would not have known that some of this stuff is from other games. I probably wouldn't have known; except maybe the Thief3 library scene (I remember I was really really really bored and I kept running around in circles for like 5 minutes. Don't ask why!)
If I am going to support someone, its going to be for a job well done.
One thing is for sure, we these types of events are Pure Proof that viral marketing is Pure Gold.
It also puts another spin on the pretty good review (Grade B) Aya had of the game. Aya, if you're listening what do you think now, regardless of the outcome of this scenario?
I also found another interesting thread on Neogaf. They show some caps from Unreal and more from diablo. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=310683&page=4
Anyway, I've gotta go to bed...be safe....

In this screenshot, you see the main character Katherine Runner and her friend who is called Academy Award. They're on their way to a distant land to find some dinosaurs.
It's based on such a simple idea I'm surprised nobody ever thought of it before.

Good to see that you're still going strong.
While we're on the business of talking about ripoffs and such isn't the name 'academy award' copyrighted by the -ehm- Oscar committe in the US? Just asking...to maybe keep Alkis out of trouble...
I have to admit that at first I was very skeptical about this story, but now I just am very > and sad :'( It really is true that these 3 guys have ripped off ON other people's hard work. Although Bethesda etc. also used middleware to make Oblivion, at least they licensed the middleware they used i.e. they paid for the use of it. These guys did not - and that alone make me want to an: them
There's a picture of them in http://www.kentmessenger.co.uk/paper/default.asp?article_id=9644&slide_id=1&newspage=2&searchkeyword=&searchpage=1 howing them in bar or a pub; maybe they just used all the publisher's money on good beer. I mean the publisher did give Majestic Studios money? to make the game? And to license engines and stuff??
I hope this does not affect a publisher's incentive to fund an indie developer's game development...
The sad thing is that if they just had made a mod for Oblivion or for one of the other other games they've ripped off, everyone would probably be hailing them right now for what a great mod they'd made...

LOL, well, if it's any consolation, you were right in the review when you said:
All of the chapters though feel as though they have been created by different people. This results to some chapters being absolutely excellent, especially 3 and 5, while others are of an inferior level, especially chapter 2.
Too bad you don't play RPGs or you might have been able to blow the lid on this whole fiasco months ago.

Wow Alkis, nice Alps on that female character model. Your rendering skillz are really starting to blossom.
Any chance we'll be able to use a cloth disintegrating mod? You know, just for us "mature" adult gamers.
Cheers, Terry
