I bought the adventure game collection volume 1 and some games from JA which are on their way.

Which should I play first? Any strong opinions or warnings about these?

-Adventure Collection
*Keepsake
*Dead Reefs
*Return to Myserious Island (Finished before, thought it was alright)
*Secret Files Tunguska
*Niburu (is this like myst or just happens to be in the first person?)

-Dracula Origin
-Perry Rhodan
-Sanitarium
-Broken Sword 1+2
-Moment of Silence

So yeah I kind of went nuts, but I figure I won't be bored for the forseeable future right? Since I have the adventure collection sitting on my desk, it's easier to play those first. Would Tunguska be the best bet? I've heard good things.

I was actually quite disappointed by Tunguska. I thought the story/character development was very generic, and the voice acting was terrible.

Out of the ones you listed, the ones I enjoyed the most were Broken Sword 1 + 2- GREAT games.

Sanitarium is very good but dark, not a game you play casually.

I had great fun playing Moment of Silence, the reviews weren't great, but I thought the plot was really interesting, much more so than Tunguska. Well worth checking out.

I've just started Keepsake and it seems OK so far!

Currently playing:  Dragon Age Origins,  Darkness Within 2, The Witcher, Fallout 3

*Keepsake - not played yet
*Dead Reefs not played
*Return to Myserious Island (Finished before, thought it was alright) fun, nothing special, slow, the heroine is no April Ryan...
*Secret Files Tunguska okayish, wooden.
*Niburu (is this like myst or just happens to be in the first person?) is very similiar to above games, but probably best of the lot above. Nice puzzles, nothing spectacular, but worth the time.

-Dracula Origin Not played yet
-Perry Rhodan dito
-Sanitarium THE BEST of your catch. Number 3 (!) in my top 100. Memorable, original, moving, sad, funny, great, great game. Takes some getting use to, but from screen1 it will suprise you, haunt you, have you laughing aloud. Games like these are not made anymore.
-Broken Sword 1+2: both classics in their own right. if you like the cartoony atmosphere, great fun is to be had. Not deep, not moving, just funny and clever.
-Moment of Silence: started it, got real bored real soon. How about riding an elevator for 25+ times. Great story though, but agonizingly slow. Still, great grapics, some great moments and characters. Play this game if your in a tranquil mood.

Broken Sword I+II FTW!, for me!
Those are the only ones I've played so far from your list. I could talk about them, but Cultura has already beat me to it and I don't know what else to add.

I've basically heard about most of them (otherwise I wouldn't have bought them right?) but I do not know Dead Reefs at all. Has anyone played it? I bought this pack because Tunguska + Keepsake are more expensive seperately, so I consder the other games bonus.

Broken Sword and Broken Sword II are indeed excellent games.
Nibiru is actually all right, but it's not first-person; it's a third-person inventory-driven adventure.
Keepsake I'm so far finding quite underwhelming.  Pretty, and still fun to watch as the story progresses, but gameplay is lacking.

The others I have not played, but thanks to the lovely, wonderful TheTraveler, I shall soon have the opportunity to play Sanitarium.

I've played Keepsake, Tunguska and the Broken Sword games

Keepsake isn't particularly 'exciting', but the environment is very pretty and the puzzles (bar one) are pretty good. I'm an old softy so I enjoyed the ending which I have seen described elswhere as 'cheesy' or worse.

Secret Files Tunguska has some (to me) quite ridiculous puzzles. Some of the worst examples of 'use the last item you would possibly imagine in conjunction with something equally unrealistic to create the 'thing' you need' gameplay in recent years. Lena's voice does get on your nerves as well, and even the 'improved' ending is pretty implausible..but despite all that I actually quite enjoyed it.  Thats probably not very helpful really :-/

The Broken Sword games are a joy to play. Actually you haven't got my favourite which is Sleeping Dragon, but the ones you have will provide hours of entertainment. Broken Sword 1 in particular may have some of the best sarcastic humour in any AG - just one example - There is a pompous security guard in a Museum who it transpires knows literally nothing about any of the exhibits  or indeed anything useful at all. Exasperated, the Hero (George Stobbart} asks him what qualifies him for the job in the museum to which he replies 'My intimidating moustache, my squeaky shoes AND an irrational hatred of small children' all delivered in a splendidly bad fake french accent

Play Sanitarium first, it's a brilliant, brilliant game.  I played one of the Broken Sword games when it came out on a handheld and had mixed feelings, but those are probably good.  I've played the beginning of most of the rest of the list and gave up on them.  But nothing is in the same class with Sanitarium.

Nibiru is nothing like Myst. It's a 3rd person game.
Return to Mysterious Island is the only first person game in the collection.
Dead Reefs is real time 3D.

-Dracula Origin
-Perry Rhodan
-Sanitarium
-Broken Sword 1+2
-Moment of Silence

I'd say Perry Rhodan would be the best bet, unless you want to try one of the older (as in published before year 2000) games like Broken Sword or Sanitarium.

Broken Sword 1 and Sanitarium are definitely the best games on your list, and genuine classics as well. Broken Sword 2 is also a classic in its own right, but not nearly as good as Broken Sword 1.

I think they are all good or great.  haven't played the 2 newest ones yet.

Make sure you patch Tunguska and then get no cd crack or it wouldn't work.

The only one i have played on your list is Sanitarium..

though the graphics are now outdated, i'm sort of glad because it's a little gruesome at times... it's has a very good storyline; you delve very, very deep into the psyche of the main character..

Well I haven't yet played the Broken Sword series, never got around to it. If I like the first two I'll probably go on to the rest.

The thing is the third one, Sleeping Dragon, is quite different to the first two. They are 2D cartoons with a basic point and click interface, Sleeping Dragon is true 3D and has some different controls, but it's easy to use them. The story and characterisation are just as good as the first two though, just a great series.

If you want to play the best first, go for, as others have said, the Broken Sword games and Sanitarium. Both the BS series and Sanitarium are utter classics, you can't really go wrong with them. As for which one to play first, just ask yourself "Am I in the mood for something deep, something creepy, or do I feel like playing an intelligently sarcastic 'adventure-in-every-sense-of-the-word game?". Former goes to Sanitarium, latter to Broken Sword.

If you're bent on playing all of the others on your list, or at least most, I would suggest you play some of those first, just so you aren't a little disappointed with the games you play directly after. Possibly start with Nibiru, and then go from there?

Maybe it's just me, but I like to save the best for last

Well I actually decided I'll play the new games first. Maybe jump in between the good and the average. I started with Tunguska since the others have not arrived.

As you can see from my avatar, Sanitarium. A very good game, unless you have a strong preference for the light-hearted adventures. I'd liken it somewhat to the RPG Planescape: Torment, mostly because of the dark setting, inward journey and good story, though I'd not rate it as highly as PST (quite possibly my favourite game). It's quite heavy on puzzles, of moderate difficulty, and has some brief action scenes that some people like to blow out of all proportion (they are easy, and failing has no consequence). The graphics in their day were very atmospheric, not entirely sure how well they stand up today, but given they're 2D, I'd imagine quite well if the resolution is decent.

Of course the Broken Sword games are also worth playing, but they're not as distinct as Sanitarium.

From the games on that list I've only played the Broken Sword games, Sanitarium and Moment of Silence. From them, Broken Sword 1 and Sanitarium are the best, IMO.

I own NiBiRu, but never got around to play it. I'm sure someone else mentioned it already, but it's actually third person perspective, not first.
