Kinda nice to see the ex-member notice under his username

Even though I don't post much on JA and don't know the members around here as much as I know those on Adventure Gamers forum. I do feel it's a loss when someone leaves the community because of a dispute, which I assume is what happened here. Correct me if I'm wrong.

You are not wrong Jelena. (that's what I understood myself). On the contrary it's really sad and disheartening to see such breakaways of members that communicate with ppl that have the same interests. I don't want to come in this awkward position myself.

Usually when this happens it's because someone got mad over *something*.  I can understand just not showing up anymore, but when they feel the need to go and delete their account, it's like some child trying to get attention by lashing out and making statement against every single person on the forum. :-/

Yeah, it could be a childish act. But still it's a loss since from what I understand he had lots of other traits that were liked on the forums.

Most of them do, which makes them quitting because of something stupid even more childish. [smiley=shaking_head.gif]

Personally I've never understood the point in "actively" leaving a community so: it requires more effort, not less, and if you change your mind later it requires yet more effort.

Like Caroline I am sad to see Sir Funkenstein go.  His contributions were often insightful, not to mention entertaining, helpful and friendly in appropriate amounts.  As someone who has felt compelled to leave a community more than once because of disagreements with other members both public and private I can empathise, but it's still a shame.

Well, my guess is that Sir Funky probably deleted his account because he wanted to reinforce his decision to leave and this way, he provides himself with a bit of an obstacle should he be taken with a sudden fit to post one night when he's up late listening to music...

I don't see it as a childish act.  Lots of very interesting members have left in similar fashion over the years.  He's always been warm and friendly and kind.  The atmosphere here has changed, the boards are quieter and people move on when they no longer find the company they seek.   All forums experience this.

I wouldn't take it personally - I certainly don't.   He does leave me with lots of fond memories though - and some fun pictures.

I haven't been here that long, so I don't know what he was like, but from this topic I didn't really like him that much.
I thought he was posting this just to get attention, but that's my view from not knowing him.

It is sad when arguements make people leave. Especially such stupid or avoidable arguements. But, like Caroline said, all forums experience this. So do people outside of the internet. It's just an unfortunate factor of life :-/.

I was really sorry to see "ex member" under Sir Funkenstein's name.  I haven't been here for a while (life can keep you busy) and I certainly can't claim to "know" him, but from what I remember, his posts were gentle and kind.  I was kind of surprised to see him so upset on this topic; it didn't sound typical of him (from what I remember, of course).

Deleted UserYes, it was strange to see Bubbah so worked up over something that I, frankly, had never even noticed before.  And I am not a lover of Casual games besides. Some Adventure sites even have an entire part of the forum dedicated to casual games - so why just having a small block of the JA+ main page dedicated to Casual games would bother him so much, is a bit of a puzzle to me.

there is room in the world and on any forum about games for all kinds...for there are many varieties that many like that others may not....  peace and sharing is a good part of this kind of forum and it is good to see that mostly peace prevails

Agreed and it was a pretty silly thing to get so worked up about.

I hope in time Sir Funk realizes that and decides to return. If not, it will be a real shame because his (other) posts were always quite entertaining and usually interesting.

Cheers, Terry

Hmmm.

He's got a point, I think.

Let an adventuresite be an adventuresite.
Not a Hybridesite.

It's a pitty to see he's gone, though.

Looks like he was a great dude!

He will be greatly missed.

Sigh, I wish every member would be as great as he was.

So nice, eloquent and handsome.

I would turn gay for him.

Sigh.......

Still Intergalactic Janitor after all these years.

Deleted UserHello SirFunk. All the Adventure sites feature other games as well, these days. Show me a single site (that didn't go under and still exists) that doesn't.
Anyway, that is what the + in JA+ stands for : Adventure games plus(+) other games.

(PS, I would have blown you one if these kisses,  :-* , but the other members seem to take exception when I do that...

We just want in on the action, too, that's all.

Well, you only get those if you deserve them. In this case Sir Funk certainly deserves one because he came back again.
Albeit as Starchild...    :
