The game deserves to be played and enjoyed. It's truly a masterpiece imho!

Temujin.
Dark Side of the Moon.
Urban Runner, a FMV adventure by Sierra that nobody seems to remember anymore.
Full Motion Video adventures were quite popular for a few years (1996 to 2000 i'd say), so I'm probably forgetting some and there must be a bunch I never heard of, but tracking down those and playing them should keep you busy for a while .
If you persist with Black Dahlia just because you want to know how it ends, you should definitely consider giving up, it has the most disappointing endings in any adventure, ever.

There were two endings depending on how you acted in the very end. Spoiler AlertNeither of them were what you call a Hollywood/Happy ever after-ending, but one of them were to prefer in front of the other. I wouldn't call it disappointing, rather quite a sad ending for sure, and a likely one. Who would believe such a story?

Call it what you will, I didn't lose my sleep for two months over the puzzles in this game just so that my character [spoiler midtext]would end up in jail. Ok, maybe the world was saved, but frankly, who cares? I play such games so I can reap vicarious glory through my character's success, not to save a bunch of ingrates.

The second time I had lots of puzzle experience, and only had trouble with 2 challenges (Dream doorway and paper invitation). If you google for a WT, there is one that contains codes to bypass each puzzle if you want to see the ending.

I LOVE this game.
Just like colpet mentioned; the first time I played it I almost scratched out my brain. So difficult, but when I replayed it a couple of years later(more used to adv puzzle solving) it still was difficult but not as mind breaking as the first time around.
If you ever get stuck use UHS hints!
Cheers and good luck!

I did not have any problems running this game under Win XP, using the guidelines from Infernos web pages.

In order to get my copy of Black Dahlia to work properly on my XP I turned hyperthreading off. That made a huge difference.
