But sometimes we go for lunch to a small Chinese resaurant... and right next door is a cigar shop. Man, that smells so good! One day I'll just have to buy some nice cigars

Yup, that's probably for the best. But what would you do if a complete stranger came up to you, grabbed your cigarette and disposed of it? I mean if you were in a public place where smoking was allowed?

As I said before, I usually don't smoke in public places, just at home. I know the smoke bothers many people, and I don't want to cause any troubles... :  And I certainly don't want a man to grab my cigarrette!

Status : Online | Unfortunately, yes. I smoke about 15 a day, less in a good day. I also take very much heed to the fact that people around me haven't made the stupid mistake as I to become smokers, so I try to keep it away from them. Which makes me on the constant look out for corners and nooks to poison my lungs... *bleh* I'm currently mustering up the motiviation required to quit, but so far I only find excuses to continue, too much work, stress, free time when the added stress of quitting would be cruel... hell, anything makes for excellent excuse to continue... :-/
I hope you don't go around telling people how stupid they are Kareman, I'm completely convinced they know that already... :-*

I want to though. But it probably wouldn't do much good. People tend to become a bit defensive if someone tells them they're doing something incredibly stupid...

Kareman, why this aggressivity? Can't you live with people's differences? Do you think each breath you take around smokers is deducing 5 minutes of your life? You feel agressed by the odor?

You feel agressed by the odor? I guess that's perfectly possible.

| Deleted User | I'm not saying that cigarette is good and that passive smoking is nothing, but there is a real Media-brain-wash about that these times and nobody is complaining about it because "it's for the best". It's getting completely hysterical (around here)...

| Deleted User | People reactions to smoking are becoming violent and exagerated because of that. The odor? nobody was complaining about that before the passive smoke alert.
I was smoking outside the other day and a girl passed by (about 3 meters from me), she saw the smoke (which was 50% cigarette 50% cold -40 degrees) and started coughing (not a cold). What a completely subtil message! I guess I don't have a chance with her .

For some laughs, check out this "news":

Make sure to read the disclaimer at the bottom of that page if you thought it was serious

Humm, show me the real studies about that, not made by ecologists and the like.
"A non-smoking person in the non-smoking section of a New-York restaurant has smoke the equivalent of 4 1/2 cigarettes after an hour."
How come nobody is questioning that fact?
N.B. I know it's not good, I'm not justifying anything...
