And what good would that make? He would just copy-paste the usual 'point and click is dead, long live the adventure - we have to reach the console market - this is a new mix of action/stealth and sports simulator - but we're still gonna base our gameplay on cerebral thinking' kind of BS he has been saying in all his interviews...

..........So should we just keep the Hot Spot dedicated to controversial gaming topics and open up a Hot Spot 2 that would focus on topics other than gaming...........

I much prefer separating out the game threads from the other threads.  Having the Adventure Games Discussion  and The Hot Spot both dedicated to adventure games - this works for me.  I go to both game threads to read what people are writing about adventure games.  Then, for fun sometimes, I go to the General Forum.   I would think there would be other people like me on the forum, who like to keep it separate.

If it matters, I think that's how they do it on most other boards.

I also like how the topics are organized - Adventure Game Forum at the top, with all the categories.

IMHO: keep The Hot Spot for gaming related subjects where people are freer to expound without offending. Leave the regular Adventure Game for more general, laid-back topics. It seems as if the Off-Topic section tends to have 'hotter' subjects going on. Maybe it could be put below The Hot Spot and be just renamed Off Topic Hot Spot.

The future ain't what it used to be!

Either have Hot Spot for everything you are hot about or split into two topics.  Hot Spot Games & Hot Spot The World

Personally, I think this forum should be for gaming issues only, after all this is a Gaming Site forum isn't it? Want to talk Iraq? Go to the 'Just Iraq +' website forum

(.... okay, I made that up.....
)

The original idea was to take "controversial" topics from the Adventure discussion board to a flame resistant area wasn't it?

The biggest problem is too many posters are trying to generate hot topics out of nothing or are on the search for something that is potentially flame-worthy. That isn't the point is it? That's equivalent to making your computer break on purpose so you can post something in the 'technical help' forum!

Maybe the hot topics should just be moved out of the main board by admin when they flare up, and those folks who expect to start a war with a genuine hot issue can kick off here too. Keep the Hot Spot hot, or I agree with dimi, bring it down.

Far be it for me to say whether you should have fun in this forum or not, but that doesn't address the idea that this originally was an area for hot topics concerning gaming issues....

As you point out, not very 'social' no, but that's it isn't it? It this a forum for ideas or just chatting away like the main discussion pages?  :-/

Why can't we just hang around and have fun? Don't know the answer to your question.

Hi,
Thought I'd post again, though I try not to post on the same thing twice.

I go to the Just Adventure forum to read about (and occasionally post) topics on adventure games.   I like to see what interesting people have to say about adventure games.  That's why I'm here.  On good days I learn something,  and I'm interested, invigorated and charmed by the conversations.  On bad days, well you don't want to know about that.  So far, the good days are outnumbering the bad days, it's a good board.

Somtimes I like to read the personal stuff (for fun) but that is not why I come to this board.  I'd also like to say that I never want to read any forum post, anywhere on this board, where anyone invites other people to say less than kind things about each other.   Obviously I have no control over what is posted on these boards, I am telling you my personal preference.

What I want is what we have, two adventure game forums, one the regular Just Adventure game forum, one "The Hot Spot" for adventure game topics.  The description of "The Hot Spot" forum is great, it perfectly fits what should go in there.   "Hot Spot"  adventure game topics should either go directly in "The Hot Spot", if you know it's going to be that sort of topic, or, if a relatively mild topic becomes incendiary, the mods can move it to The Hot Spot.

As for the Off Topic forums, I have no personal preference.  If you want one Off Topic forum or two, it doesn't matter to me.  I don't go there all that often, and when I do, I'll just wend my way around the threads I want to read, and the threads that don't work for me.

As for that one post on the Just Adventure game forum (I'll leave it to you all to find it), the one that had Randy's  "extreme language" (in my opinion) - yup, in my opinion, as soon as that happened, that topic should have been speedily moved to "The Hot Spot".   I admit that Randy was clever, but that post was certainly more than I wanted to read!  However, I like Randy, and the Just Adventure Site is his creation, and he's done so much for the adventure game industry.  I'm willing to overlook that language on our regular adventure forum, but only from Randy!

All for now.
Regards, mszv

You know....what gets me is, some people say 'this topic' doesn't belong here, move it to the off topic forum', 'I only come here to read about adventure games'....... so........why do these people come into the other forums and read them, maybe......CURIOUSITY??
If we moved everything over to the Off Topic Forum, one of these days, it's going to explode! It's so over filled with topics right now, you can't find nothing in it. Maybe we should have alot more topics in here......AND chatrooms!

I would like the Hot Spot to be just for AG stuff.  If folks want an additional hot spot connected with Off Topic items then that sounds really great to me.

Now that the Hot Spot is here, some people seem to be going out of their way to develop incendiary topics of one sort or another.  ???  There seems to be enough animosity in the world without deliberately provoking it amongst ourselves.
on't get me wrong, I love a good rousing discussion but not argument for it's own sake or topics that deliberately are set up to flame others.  What may seem to be in fun can also be very hurtful.

Still adventuring after all these years!

Patiently awaiting The Last Crown: Haunting of Hallowed Isle, and Bracken Tor...

... and Asylum if it's not tooooo scary...

Well.....I wouldn't deliberately hurt someone here, UNLESS they deserved it, or hurt me first.

RANDY!!!!?? We need a new forum up for us that want to flame, debate, or heatedly discuss other topics.

Resistance is not futile, we're gonna win this thing, humankind is too good, we're not a bunch of under-achievers! We're gonna stand up, and we're gonna be human beings. We're going to get fired up about the real things, the things that matter! Creativity, and the dynamic human spirit that refuses to submit.

Do you want a hot topic...I'll give you one. Hot spot is lame... it has splitted the subjects and now the forums seem more quiet than before.

So I suggest...bring down the hot spot. Make this forum as live and prosperous as it was before the hot spot.

And now go on and flame me...anyway we're in the "hot spot"

I totally  [size=13]AGREE
