Status : Online | I thought the Hot Spot was going to be for threads that got too hot to handle. Instead people go there to post trying to get a rise out of each other. Maybe the Hot Spot should only be open to Mods to move threads there instead.... Actually there hasn't been a flame war since the Hot Spot opened. Hmmm. Maybe that was what the mods planned all along. Val???

I like the hot spot. It does get hot in here, and threads have been moved from one place to another.
I think it'll slow down in here as all the bigger hot topics have been used up. It'll pick up again, and we can refer any future flame wars or people on about old topic arguments over here.
Keep it.

The JA king has spoken hehee
I didn't expect JA to bring down the hot spot just because of my post, but I think the hot spot does not serve any positive purpose and I wanted to say it... so I did.
Since I didn't get the point and you did, could you please explain to me how a thread like 'More Magazine Crap' where sticks go up people's asses can be in the adventure games conversation while the thread about computer games being too expensive is a controversial and hot one?
I think you didn't get the point of my message. I think that the navigation of the forums now is more difficult since the adventure conversation is now split in two. It would be better if all conversations were in one forum part and there was a special icon next to the ones that were considered """ hot """.
Not that I expect you to admit that this would be better...but anyway

I also think that these boards (or perhaps it's users) are too focused on the main topic (adventure games). I don't know if it's just me but I can't talk about adventuregames forever. If I like a game I say so and have nothing else to add. And these polls; best adventure, most addictive adventure, worst adventure in my opinion are nothing but advanced "yes" and "no". I don't concider it a real discussion.
I'm sorry if you don't agree.

| Deleted User | Perhaps the best thing to do was to put the obviously heated threads here? Like more Magazine crap or whatever it was... I agree, the yes/no ones are sheeite and deserve to be in the usual forum.
When does a thread become hot? Certainly not from the very start...

This is one of those things where there are benefits to doing it both ways. The downside of what you suggest above is that when you have too many interesting topics in one place, they scroll off the first index page or 2 very quickly and essentially terminate quickly. It's nice to hop between the 2 forum sections and see the main topics of interest right up front.
The other benefit of having the Hot Spot is that due to its title we have more latitude in what we say without offending, or at least that's the way it should be (ie. if you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen etc, etc.)

The future ain't what it used to be!

I don't see why is it easier to hop from one forum sector to the other which is 2 clicks-away than hoping from page 1 to page 2 which s 1 click-away...
I agree with your second observation, but then I think if we could put an icon next to the conversation it would give the same level of allowance as the hot spot.

Yes, I think I can explain. With the exception of one single post ("sticks" that thread wasn't "hot" at all, at least when compared to the Game Copies/Too Expensive threads where people suggested pirated games didn't hurt companies. Of course, I think everybody knows that thread was also a "special" case so try coming up with further examples.
Not that I expect you to admit that this would be better...but anyway Well, you can complain all you want but this forum has worked perfect so far, even from the very first day it was started - that's a fact. Anyway...

Down with all names with Monkey in them. What is a Monkeybone? Is it a bone from a monkey or a something a monkey chews on (like a dog bone)?
Alright! Is that hot enough for ya? Ya want more HUH? HUH?

Doesn't necessarily mean there's any controversy at all. And vice versa.

So should we just keep the Hot Spot dedicated to controversial gaming topics and open up a Hot Spot 2 that would focus on topics other than gaming (just to drive Dimi mad with another category) or should we just open up the Hot Spot to all topics?

So that's why you opened hot spot But really if you want to make me mad, there are much easier ways. Give me an article of PC Gamer for example on adventure games, or invite Charles Cecil to tell us the state of point and click games.
Now that would make me mad
