Will you all stop apologizing?  [smiley=laughing.gif]

I was only trying to explain why Len didn't know the review was out.

I wish Len was living in Greece and working for us. In fact, I wish that for half this forum's members!

Enough talking; the game is out! Go get it.

Do you like classic adventure games? Check out Diamonds in the Rough!

~~ Traveler ~~... However, in my mind someone who beta tested a game would automatically feel an emotional investment in the game, almost as if he actually was a part of the dev team, although of course he/she isn't, ------

The old cliché ... you hit the nail on the head.

I may have mislead by using the phrase " one of the ‘team’! ".

I have participated in very many beta testings and not a few alphas and even pre-alphas.  I have never felt that I am one of the Developers (and certainly never requested or received ANY remuneration in cash or kind... except my name in the Credits and one free copy of the final game***).

But you are right... in every case, when helping as best you can to try to make EVERY game in which you are involved as good as possible, you obviously become emotionally involved and I suppose feel rather like the supporters of sports teams who root for their teams and wish them the very best and are prepared to help them in any small ways they possibly can.... if given the chance!

*** As far as I remember, when receiving the free game I hardly ever even play it.
Having gone over the game literally scores of times and tried to examine it from every possible angle, the thrill of actually playing it has largely evaporated !!

Deleted UserHey Alkis ... you got yours in 5 minutes before me .......... whilst I was writing.
I also wanted to say that no apologies are needed from ANYBODY.

You all sound like some crazy Monty Python sketch with men in suits and bowler hats apologising profusely for absolutely nothing.  So terribly terribly British of you all....

HOWZAT?

And Len, if you don't stop apologising now, I'll apologise even more!!
We all just had a timing difference misunderstanding!!  OK? Ok? ok?

Oh, and                   GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR GAME, ALKIS!        [smiley=beer.gif]
We all know it's your baby, and from what I've seen about it so far, I'm sure it's going to be a success.

Caroline, if you haven't seen "The Party" -the movie with Peter Sellers, you must make a plan to get hold of it, it's hilarious, and it's the first thing I thought of when I saw your post.

Well you know the old saying :-
"Everybody's crazy except you & me... and I'm not too sure of your sanity" !!!

Deleted User*sigh*  You know, Len, between you, myself and Caroline, we are the worst topic hijackers that I've ever seen.    [smiley=shaking_head.gif]
Like Caroline already said, with us it's mandatory!

Do you realise we are currently hijacking a hijack?
We almost hijacked olgeezer's (love that name) topic with the "why terror games" topic, and scarcely 3 pages in were' already 3 topics farther!      [smiley=rofl.gif]

Ain't we a trio!         [smiley=rofl.gif]

Yes, they do make these games or movies or tv-series

Jack Bauer and Jason Bourne springs to mind...

So does a game like Icewind Dale (i think it was icewind dale) where you go through torture
chamber after torture chamber Spoiler Alertwhere the Yuan-ti tortured humans for fun and some other gross stuff And games like Manhunt and Condemned require you to escape by any means possible. You can, of course, also use stealth, if you so prefer.

And Len, what I means was just that I don't buy games like Manunt or Condemned etc. simply because I'd rather give my money to games like the Agatha Christie games or games like the one Alkis is making or games like Keepsake, Treasure Island or Secrets of Da Vinci and Nostradamus.

I don't mind other people enjoying games like Manhunt or Condemnet or that they are being made...

I just don't buy them....
