Hello everyone!

After seven years of hard work, dedication and determination, The Silver Lining has now officially entered the Beta Testing phase!  We are currently having a contest open to everyone, where the winners will become official TSL Beta Testers.

This contest will give you a taste of beta testing, by allowing you to physically play several scenes from a recent build of TSL.  While playing, you should notice a TON of bugs.  Your goal is simple: report as many bugs as possible to us, using the contest entry form.

This contest will run from March 9th to April 6th, 2008.  Please visit http://www.tsl-game.com/contest/beta/ for further contest details and the link to download the game.

Good luck and most importantly, have fun!

Since TSL is in beta-testing, that means it's close to completion!

I wonder ... do those that report the least amount of bugs get referred to a commercial developer?   :

Yonkey - is this just for JA, or can we post it on other sites?  I'd like to share the news on Sierra Planet's forums.

Yes, Susan!  It's very close, because after testing it just has to go to VU for their approval.  We're hoping to eliminate as many bugs as possible before we deliver it to them.

And yes, you can definitely share the news on other sites!  8-)

What, no Vista compatibility? Guess that's what happens when a game takes so long to make...
Not that my poor graphics card will be able to run it anyway.

Good luck with the project.

Actually, it does run on Vista.  I should actually update the minimum requirements page...

What kind of graphics card do you have?

It says "Mobile Intel 945GM Express".
Actually it might be able to run the game. Culpa Innata ran fine on it, but other 3D games didn't.
I think I'll download the build and check it out anyway.

I forgot to say that I'm glad to see the game is nearing completion. We haven't heard anything about it in a while.

Good lord, seven years.  [smiley=boggled.gif] I was wondering what had happened to this project. Good to hear it's nearing completion.

Hmm, I'm not sure if it will run on it.  The engine is fine running ATI and NVidia cards, but it's pretty picky about any others.  You can try it anyway.  The worst you'll get is a popup message saying: Unable to initialize video.

Yeah, we decided to buckle down and focus entirely on development, which is mainly why it's been fairly quiet the past couple of years.   It's exciting to finally be able to see the finish line.

Hmmm ... I have an Intel 82845G.  I could play the demo, but it was poky with initializing everything on the screen.  Maybe I'll try this out, too.  I might even spot some bugs while I'm at it.

Nice!
If you were able to play but found it very slow, then it's probably due to your amount of memory.  It runs fine with 512MB (which is what I have), but if you have 1GB or more it will load things a lot quicker and gameplay will be less choppy.

768MB RAM - which I upgraded a year or so ago - maybe the demo came out before then.  I can't remember.
