Its boring, there isn't any action at all. You walk around picking up things and using them with other items. You walk around and use the item on something. Walking around and talking to people is really lame, what about some shooting or something~APuddleduck&&

Same as above. Had enough dying after playing Beasley's deathtrap 1 and 2.

but it was to do with some weighing scales. Yeah...that puzzle was really challenging. Anyway, :-X

Beyond their obvious virtues, of course. Seems most of gamers still prefer the "dying characters"... :

I thought it was a nice way to handle it -

Remember the place in MI1 where Guybrush "died", got the Sierra-ish Restore/Restart/Quit message box... and then did not die after all?
I forgot my sig.

To me, the best dyings were in the Space Quest series

Yeah I loved the scenes where pirates insulted each ohter...like "-Nobody has ever drawn blood from me and nobody ever will. -You run that fast?"
(I still laugh when I remember that )
Hey, but that had nothing to do with the topic...Sorry! : Go on, please...

Status : Online | Death in adventure games goes way back.  oes anyone else remember "It is really dark. You have been eaten by a grue!" My only problem with getting killed in a game is when the save system is limited and it forces me to replay tedious actions scenes over and over and over and over...
Remember Omikron - where you would die in order to move into the body of a new character??? Quite a concept except that I grew very attached to one character and hated to have to trade her in!

I went through the same remorse in Omikron.
We can be heroes, just for one day.

dying? yes in action games or rpgs, but in advs generally no, especially in those stupid you-steped-on-the-wrong-pixel sierra ways
You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

Status : Online | I don't mind being able to die in AG's, as long as the reason for my death was halfway logical and avoidable, and as long as the game restores me to a point just before my death, and not to where I last saved. I'm not very responsible about saving every three steps, and even if a game is super fun I don't want to replay an hours worth because I died and forgot to save.
In the Zork games and in older Sierra games like Laura Bow you got killed constantly. I didn't have much problem with that partly because you could restore, but also because they gave you some really horrible pun about your death.  "Feeling a little FLAT!?" Har!)
So, to sum up, my rules about death in AG's: 1. Make it halfway logical, or failing that, halfway entertaining 2. Let me restore to just before I died, please. 3. I like dorky puns... I don't know, maybe I'm alone on this one.
Get those bases covered and I'm perfectly fine with in-game death.

I too loath tedious action scenes in AGs that must be replayed ad nauseum until I finally get it right.
I don't mind getting killed in a humorous way or if there is an interesting cut scene and then I am plonked right back into the game just before my fatal mistake.
Still adventuring after all these years!
Patiently awaiting The Last Crown: Haunting of Hallowed Isle, and Bracken Tor...
... and Asylum if it's not tooooo scary...
