| Deleted User | There are computer games classes?!? Wow! Where?
Isn't this a great opportunity for you to tell them all about adventure games, don't you have talks and lectures and stuff in this class?

| Deleted User | If you have more of these classes you can start showing them the difference between a RPG and adventure.
Although I must say that there are a lot of grey areas where both genres come together (Parasite eve).
But a lot adventures are completely differend then any other game. It's like reading a book, only you are the main character. And the puzzles off course. Let them try Myst Gabriel Knight 3 Post Mortem Syberia

Status : Online | Holy moley! Computer game classes? Please elaborate... do they teach you how to design games? Program them? The psychological effects of them? Playing strategies? AI?
That sounds too cool to be true...

What is the official title of the class? Game Development? I would take the one at my school but you have to take OpenGL or DirectX class first, and I don't wanna do that...
~rbeeler SVT &&Name's STooGE$$$$ Valpurgius TNT; it's not PLURAL&&&&151.Generally speaking Sludge Doomsters are Angry, Gothic doomsters are sad, funeral doomsters are barely breathing, death doomsters are dirty, drunk and dribbling, Stoner Doomsters don't care, drone doomsters are out of it and traditional Doomsters are permanently pissed off, mainly with other doomsters

| Deleted User | The subject's called Advanced programming in computer games. Im in Singapore but Im having a twinning program with a university in Newcastle, UK.
Yeah, we do have seminar/tutorial sessions for discussions.
Thanks Sir_Funkenstein. :-* I did picked MystIII and TLJ. Of course it was a group presentation but I vowed to do the research by myself because they desiced for the 3rd topic they wanted to do an RPG topic. I was really glad to see that they(my class, lecturer, group members) liked the graphics and the overall presentation.
The other class which has a minor topic in computer games is advanced human comptuer interactions. I only had to read journals onvarious computer games and probably I have to elaborate all key aspects of one particular game. One topic that got me interested was Augmented Reality.
Back to the advanced programming in computer games. We use C++ to build a simple 2D game (side scroller). This class is quite challenging but the outcome....great. Know what I mean? Basically we learn how to put the image into the right coordinate, learn how to implement gravity into the game, implement some physics and math calculations, buffereing, to program a collision detection, vectors(how to move object vertically or horizontally...all those stuff. I got sooo much to do and I think I dont even have time for myself!!!!
Stooge, we learned about direct X components in the earlier week before we started programming.

Ok, it's a programming course, nothing too unusual, but you are actually discussing professional computer games, right? Cool.

| Deleted User | I know it looks cool. But its not a piece of cake. I need to come up with my own formula to solve some problems. A lot of thinking always makes me hungry. :
