Right. I think that I'll need to finish whatever else I'm playing at the moment and have nothing else on my plate before I go to those kind of lenghts. (Rolling back)
In the meantime, I'll endeavour to do more reading on the problem with this game (seems like quite a lot of gamers had probs) with what I can find on the internet.
Thanks for everyone's help and advice up to this point! [smiley=thanks.gif]

Yesterday I began playing Sentinel: Descendants in Time - had it installed quite a long time ago and didn't start it till yesterday - and found getting myself merged more and more into the game world. (-; Though the dialogues are odd for me quite often, Myst-like style of puzzles is something I love very much... (-; I did not know that that game was made by the same people who made Schizm. I'll have to get it as soon as possible.
I already finished the game and it's really good, IMHO - I liked those sound-based puzzles, having an opportunity to find out how I stood about my sound/hearing memory... (-;
And right now I'm playing Hell: A Cyberpunk Thriller - quite an old game from 1994, running it on DosBox. Lots of talking but it's interesting so far...

Sylavaedawn, since you seem to be a DA fan, why don't you pop in at our "other games" section from time to time. The little group of us who cluster there, are eagerly awaiting DA 2, tho in my case less eagerly after what I've heard about the demo...

Sure, I'm going there right ahead... (-;
I didn't know there was a DA & DA2 forum on Just Adventure site... Thank you very much for pointing it out for me and for the invitation, Traveller (-;

It had the customary HOGish elements, of course, but those were secondary to the adventure segments. Puzzles were pretty good (at least by casual game standards), too. Though I would have liked to have seen some of those complex door lock puzzles from the first game.
It was much bigger than I expected also. Nice soundtrack, very orchestral. Good graphic design all around, and a thumbs up for using some FMV sequences.
So in short I had much more fun than I would have expected from a casual game. I imagine I should try the other games in the Mystery Case Files series (that is, if they offer similar gameplay)?

I'm waiting for it to grow on me!

Few more hours and you won't be able to get Sam's Theme out of your head
I'm playing Last Window, sequel to Hotel Dusk. It's really good.

So far the only thing that's made a last impression are Sam's disgusting eating habits. Her gulpy drinking nearly had me mute my computer.

I haven't played Nibiru but 'knowing' (or should Isay knowing the types of games she likes) Trav I think she would like Dead Reefs.
maum, I take it all back, for some reason I keep mixing up "ead Reefs" with "Next Life" [smiley=shrug.gif] which was a terribly boring game (IMO)and I actually DID enjoy "ead Reefs" The only reason this comes up again is because I was cleaning one of my bookcases that I keep my games in and saw "Next Life" and it reminded me. Just wanted to clear that up.

http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/23/ca...nture-for-3ds/
and:
http://www.siliconera.com/2011/03/23...-with-the-mic/
Which is a Mystery adventure game similar to the classic adventure game "" - I have this on my 3DO and loved it.
I bought my 3DS for the 3D. However, when the 3DS was released in Japan - Prof Layton was Most Popular Game on the 3DS:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Profess...ask_of_Miracle
In the US we don't have any games like Layton to buy yet. Quite a few however are planned for it including this one:
http://www.destructoid.com/konami-di...e-194266.phtml
Personally, I like the 3DS, the 3D is fun, lots of horsepower - but I'm keeping my Dsi XL for playing adventure games for now - like "The Tree of Life" which brand new sold for $14.99.
However, lots of sales of Prof Layton games on the 3DS in Japan means that some of these excellent titles will come over here - like 999 did on the DS.

I've just started, but it feels like they really managed to capture the atmosphere of the movie, while remaining more faithful to the book

Not bad, better than I expected! And I haven't needed a walkthrough yet, I'm endeavoring not to. Unless absolutely necessary!

It's entertaining enough, but increasingly it's not so much a game as an interactive movie. Rather a shame to see this kind of degradation in gameplay from the folks at Telltale Games, as their work had slowly but steadily been getting more polished all around. It should be interesting to see if Jurassic Park continues in the same vein. if so, it's a worrying trend for Telltale.
