Heh, yes, just re-watch that cutscene again. Admittely the opening cutscene is rather confusing, what with the dark silhouettes and so on.

The game is rather short as well, so not taking any shortcuts through it is probably for the best. And none of the puzzles were fiendishly hard, so you always have a decent chance of actually figuring them out.
Let's see if 3rd time is the charm. My two last attempts at AG did not end well (The sacred amulet did not start, and Egypt had such horrible sound & music that it was unplayable). Now playing: Largo Winch empire under threat.

I'm playing Tex Murphy Overseer under Virtual PC. I started off with the DVD version, but it's just too buggy under emulation. The CD version plays just fine (so far) and VPC's ISO support means no disc swapping. There aren’t annoying errors after cut-scenes either, it's on a 98 guest!
They just don't make games like this anymore

Apart from a really annoying lead character voice I think it has been entertaining so far.

Status : Offline | I wouldn't call the above (The Void) an adventure game, many reviews tricked me into believing that. It's more a resource gathering/action game. In fact after a few rooms the game becomes an irritating experience. You're constantly out of 'color' and the enemies are difficult to beat :-/

| Deleted User | Although I still won't admit that I am ready to join the Myst fan club, I just have to say that Real Myst turned out as a much better gaming experience than I had anticipated. Yes, during the days while the Myst retrospective thread was a popular topic I did quietly saunter over to GOG and put it on my account. What an interesting clever game with an amazing back story. Well, even if I didn’t quite pick up on all of it. Unlike several newer games that I’ve started and lost interest for various reasons, I couldn’t put this one down, literally.
The not so good:
I’ve always been under the impression, at least from my own experience, that GOG products (especially older ones) are already patched and modified for XP and Vista systems, perfect for my HP Vista notebook right? Not this time around. A forum visit instructed me to set the .exe’s to WinXP mode and then install the game. Phew, at least that solved the screen freezes requiring a total re-boot. > Unfortunately the game crashes still persisted in some areas (but not all) especially in the desert region of the Selenitic Age. Save, save, save or just shoot the stupid thing.
Oh, lest I forget about the ending, yeah just to be sure, I did check out a video.

I'm now re-playing Culpa Innata (which I had to give up on the first time round due to a dying computer) and enjoying it so much better this time round! I'm still slightly annoyed by the continuity issues in the dialogues (specifically with Sandra and Chief Morrsen) but great story telling otherwise. Fun game!

Uh-oh. I just started playing this today. I bought it awhile ago, and just hadn't gotten around to it. Thanks to the crazy deals on Steam, my playing list is large and not very AG oriented, although I did finish a Sam and Max and Puzzle Agent recently. Currently playing Batman Arkham Asylum (awesome), Just Cause 2, Zombie Driver, Left4Dead 2, and as mentioned Rhiannon. Think I'll start the 2nd Gabriel Knight after that.

Status : Offline | I've never managed to finish Still Life. I played it a few years back but the game bugged very early on and won't run on Vista. Shame cos after Post Mortem I rather wanted to see what would happen.
I bought a cheap copy of Still Life 2 (french version) but that wouldn't even start on my Vista laptop either. In fact I seem to remember it wouldn't even install properly.
Stormseye tell me what you think of Rhiannon. I thought in addition to the lack of atmosphere (which I gather might have something to do with the fact that the game was developed by just two with a limited budget) I thought it was a bit directionless. After the initial exploration there's a randomness about what the player's expected to do.
Still playing Culpa Innata, I've also just started the old Call of Cthulhu. Fun early 90s game.

im currently playing secret files tunguska. currently stuck (as i will naturally be at the end of every playsession. but im loving it.) again trying not to use any hints of walkthroughs. so much so that i have put in help sites like uhs and gamefaqs into my hosts file so i cant access them if i get weak.
have also got, drawn dark flight, return to mysterious island, sherlock holmes vs jack the ripper, and safecracker. good deal for some adventure company games so if i get stuck for too long on tunguska ill play another one of these games alongside it so i keep myself rolling on.
just want to get better at the games before i play the uber classics like GKs, tex murphy, still life, etc.etc.

Crystal Key 1 also started... and in the queue... and i am still eyeing Culpa Innata...and have also got several semi adventure-semi action games loaded...things like Mafia I and Advent Rising but the holidays and modding for Oblvion and several other things have me stuck in the non gaming category for the moment..i miss it.

I'll definitely let you know. I enjoyed it for the first hour or two, and then I picked up Oblivion again for the first time in a while, and haven't gone back to Rhiannon for a day or two. I won't say that's Rhiannon's fault. Just a shift in mood. I agree with you about the atmosphere so far. Everything is pretty bright and sunny, with vibrant colors and such. Even in the house, it feels more yuppyish than creepy, but I can' say it's bothering me yet, as it fits with the story so far. I'll drop a pm or start a thread once I'm through it.
