Status : Online | Doesn't really tell me if it's got or still has the things that bugged me about 3, sadly. Namely, the controls were a hassle, the plot (right down to the characters) was just swiped from the first game without really pushing to anything different or new (like BS2 did, that was a hell of an excellent sequel), or... well actually, the post does say that there's less box-pushing puzzles. Those made me sad!
I remember when I got to the last area of the game, I sarcastically said aloud "And now for the ultimate climax of the game; a box-pushing puzzle to end all box-pushing puzzles!" - and sure enough, that's exactly what I got. It was like the game was punishing me for being sarcastic.

Still, I just bought the Casebook Special Edition Trilogy and the GOG release of The Journeyman Project 2 and I'm looking forward to trying them out.

Status : Offline | I'm currently slogging through The Moment of Silence. I say slogging because it's rather tedious to get around, even if you make your character run. Navigation is rather confusing at times, with valid exits often being unclear. And there's some really annoying pixel hunting. (There is a key to highlight items and exits, but I don't like having to use that sort of thing, if I can help it.)
It also breaks one of the basic rules of gaming. If the player character knows something relevant to the game, the player should know it also. I should not be fumbling around in the character's apartment looking for his own stuff, for example.
I do appreciate the very topical story, set in the not too distant future, a nice change from the glut of fantasy and supernatural themes used in adventure games. But even that is undermined by the English translation. It's not a terrible translation by any means, but it does feel a little awkward, often too formal for the setting. And there are a number of slip-ups with American English, like "WC" for a bathroom and "yoghurt".
All little things, but put together they break up what was otherwise a thoughtful effort to create a plausible future New York. I'm probably nit-picking here more than I would with other adventure games, but this is a rare adventure in a realistic (albeit somewhat futuristic) setting, and to me it makes those kinds of errors all the more glaring.

I am still playing Anachoronox, Omikiron, and several others, looking forward to Syberia 3, and some others due out whenever they get finished.

Status : Offline | I recently finished Puzzle Bots. Cute game, some fun dialogue, very short though. Most of the game feels like a tutorial in how to use the robots to solve puzzles. The endgame puzzle was more complex than the rest of the puzzles, and what the bulk of the game should have been like. Too late, unfortunately.
But I enjoyed the game nonetheless. It was something like Lost Vikings with a Futurama vibe, and that fusion really appealed to me. I'd like to see the developer try something else in the same vein.

Should keep me out of trouble for a while. Thought for sure I could zip through Dark Flight over the weekend but it seems that someone must have complained that A Painted Tower was not challenging enough and someone else must have listened.
I was surprised and pleased that the older ones still run with Win Vista.

obv these are easier ones cause im easing myself back into the genre, but they were very fun, was a bit stuck early on in loom as i had no idea about the mechanics until i downloaded the manual and read through it.
both short too but again thats good, want to really get used to the genre and its general mechanics before i take on a 15+ hour harder adventure.
up next is full throttle then emerald city confidential

| Deleted User | Nice to see you enjoying these games Idris. Haven't played Loom yet but I really should look into it. (So many games still out there when I feel bad with the state of the AG genre) If you get the chance you ought to play Drawn Dark Flight, part two of the Drawn series. (Can’t help it but I still find myself sometimes humming some of the musical themes from that one in my head) Not sure when the final installment of the trilogy will be released but for my own interest in seeing this project through I have been keeping my eyes open.
As for gearing up for fifteen hour harder adventures. Hmm. Lots and lots of games that fall into that category.

And i also admire the coding to no end, just think how long ago it was done and it still runs flawlessly on modern computers.... great work LucasArts...George and Co.
