Status : Offline | OK am nearly through with Black Mirror 2 (OK storyline, awful protagonist) and am already thinking of what to play next.
I have 2 games lined up that I am really looking forward to- The Whispered Word and Pirates Ghosts of Vooju Island, as well as Tree of Life and Still Life 2.
What should I start with?
Currently playing: Dragon Age Origins, Dishonored, The Witcher, Fallout 3, Deponia

Golly, you are reminding that I also wanted to play Whispered World, and TOL soon. How about you try Still Life 2 first, because it's quite a quick play: - tense-ish, if you know what I mean. Then you could alternate with something lighter like WW or Pirates, and then come back to TOL, and then I'll also probably be playing TOL by that time.
On the other hand, you might want something light after BM2, huh? EDIT: Oh, Maum, won't you check the Dreamfall thread? I've been asking there if anyone was interested in playing Dreamfall so we can do another playthrough thread for it, like the Black Mirrror one we are currently doing.

Despite my recent hundreds of hours with Oblivion and Fallout 3, which I played for atmosphere and displacement not fighting, I would rather avoid action when at all possible. And anime-type action I don't even consider.
Even the minimal action in Dreamfall stops the game for me, like an unwanted commercial (advert) in the middle of a great TV (telly) program (programme).
Anyway, thanks for the suggestions. I never heard of Anachronox or Omikron and it is nice to know there have been quality games out there besides the few I'm interested in.
Re: Maum's post. Why aren't any of the games she lists (except SL2) reviewed on this site?

I just finished BM2 and was left distinctly unimpressed. The first 3 chapters were quite dull, it did pick up once Darren hit Willow Creek but the end felt very rushed to me. Darren also happens to be the most irritating character I've ever played so it was hard to really get involved in the game.
I ended up loading TOL, I was going to play SL2 but the review left me a bit scared.
Re Dreamfall, from the link that was posted, am I right in thinking the way to run the game is to download and install DirectX 9 and then install the game itself?

Note: after you install the game, there is also a patch. Found in many locations, including here:

BTW, I don't see TOL reviewed. Is it listed under a series perhaps?

It's reviewed here at JA Halcyon. http://justadventure.com/reviews/ChronMysteryTree/COM_Tree.shtm In my opinion I agree with the review (although I am unfamiliar with some of the references mentioned) and I'd have to say it was the best game to date that CI has released so far. On the other hand, sadly I have to dismiss the 'Art of Murder' series, I've played them all and I won't spend another dime.
With TOL I have to give the game a B+/A- for better puzzles based on logic type puzzles that were more difficult compared with previous inventory manipulation exercises prevalent in earlier CI games.

Hey, Chris, so why don't you wait a bit with TLJ? Fnord and I are game for a group playthrough of it, and you mentioned that you are too, but none of us are in a hurry since we have many other games to carry on with; so I thought let's wait 7 - 10 days and wait for some more takers: - the more the merrier!
Sound ok to you?

I'll play TLJ with you then. Until then, my spare time comes in moments and I usually spend them jumping about in Uru. Such activities have become soothing to me like those addictively absorbing arcade games.
Btw, Traveller - aren't you busy too?

I'll consider joining in. I really liked the game when I played it ~10 years ago, but I don't know if I'll have the patience for the dialogue trees this time around.

My exams finished last week. Sadly I got so frisky in my new-found freedom, that I tripped and hurt my arm, yesterday. Feeling a bit better, but my typing is a bit laborious at present. Good luck with rest if your exams.

Does one have to sit through all of them or can't you maybe skip the non-essential ones? I put subtitles on, and then skip thru dialogue faster, just reading the subtitles.

Status : Offline | Just finished up Slip Space, which has been a delight to play, with some really good puzzles. One quibble I have is how abrupt the ending seemed. I had expected some kind of end game puzzle as well, which didn't really materialize.
But I had a lot of fun overall, and I look forward to any future games of this sort that Mr. Markosian (hopefully) will be developing.

Luckily it was short and easy but I have to say I am rather surprised by the positive review on this site.

I recently played this title after downloading it from STEAM. Yes, it's amazing as a history lesson and a cute game of yore. I played it for about 2 hours then just used a walkthrough to go through it. There's no way I would have finished it otherwise.
My recent finishes are Belief and Betrayal, which I really liked after I got past the awful prologue and chapters 1 and 2. I also completed Cameron Files Loch Ness after switching to an older computer.
Now playing Gabriel Knight 2 along with Machinarium (what a fantastic, challenging and well-designed game!).

In the 80s, people seem to have had a far greater tolerance for these kinds of games, where you really did not get enough hints to have a farce chance of solving all the problems (remember castle 7 & 8 in zelda 1? Finding those was not fun, yet I did it back when i was a kid. These days I would not have the patience to do that).
